Is it possible for me to just combine both drives into 1 without a raid config? It wouldn't increase the speed, but I just want both drives to act like one in file manager. I also do not want to reinstall the OS. The 550MBps I get is more than enough for me lol.
-
Yeah, I have an 8700k right now with 3000MHz ram. The stock speeds are 2133MHz and there is a significant difference in high FPS games. Around 5fps. I would suggest 3000/3200 also if you plan to upgrade to the 8700k later.

So I have two identical Samsung 850 EVOs both 500gb. If I were to RAID 0 them, would I get approx twice the speed and the full capacity of both drives (1tb)? Or would I just get twice the speed but only 500gb of storage? I also have an operating system and programs installed on one drive. Is it no longer possible to RAID 0 them?

i5 7400 bottlenecking GTX 1060??? *Reward offered*
Rezalis replied to Envy9948's topic in Graphics Cards
What temps is your CPU at? There could be throttling. I experienced flicker when my laptop CPU heatsink became mis -seated and the CPU clock would not go over 1.5Ghz while plugged in and on high-performance mode. The CPU was at 99C constantly under the IHS. The computer would feel cool so I couldn't really pinpoint the problem until I downloaded Throttlestop and monitored CPU temps. I re-seated the CPU heat pipes and flicker was gone. Also before I fixed my CPU, the CPU usage would never go above 30 percent. -
Yeah, I will get a 1080 ti soon this Christmas.
-
I'll be stuck with an 860m until May if I decide 20 series. So I too might just go for the 1080 ti.
-
What are the estimates for when GTX 20 series will be released? Based on Nvidia release history can anyone make an educated estimate for when it will be released? I'm considering waiting for GTX 2080 instead of 1080 ti if it is released early enough but if not, I'll just hop on the 1080 ti boat.
-
Yes the 2080ti or whatever will come out a long time after the 2080. I think I'm going to wait for the 2080 and see how much faster it is than the 1080ti. Till then ill just leave my build incomplete with this old gt 630 I have lying around. Actually integrated graphics might be better at that point.
-
I sure hope it is lol. A GTX 1180 or 2080 or something would be incredibly fast looking at the TITAN V. And prices should be around the launch 1080 range - 600 possibly 700.
-
but volta looks like it's going to be really expensive
-
I'm going to have to wait for the 1080ti to drop in price or... Volta?
-
Ok, so I'm finally making the switch from an 860m laptop to a custom built desktop. All the other parts are decided except for the GPU:https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Swagboy/saved/VmwkTW Games I want to run: Project Cars 2 GTA V Watch Dogs 2 PUBG CSGO I currently have a 1440p 144hz G-Sync monitor I got at Best Buy on a sale for $350 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-27-led-qhd-gsync-monitor-black/5293502.p?skuId=5293502 I'm thinking about a 1080ti but I'm not sure if it's really worth the extra $200 over the 1080 for just 15-20fps more over 120fps however 15-20fps over 30fps makes a huge difference. An OC 1070ti can match or surpass a 1080 stock in most games. I'd like to know your guys' opinions for the GPU. Thanks!

Will a PCIe x4 connection bottleneck a 1080 ti? I know that x8 will not bottleneck but maybe x4 will?
-
So I am considering getting an Alienware Graphics Amp and sliding a 1080ti inside it. It has a full PCIe 3.0 x4 connection. Will that x4 bottleneck a 1080ti?

- 1080ti
- external gpu

Linus always talks about AIO media player
Rezalis replied to Rezalis's topic in Home Theater Equipment
an XBOX One X is better than an HTPC imo. Cheaper, can be made better looking, smaller, and made for streaming/gaming. Plus you can get xbox exclusives... -

Rezalis replied to Rezalis's topic in Home Theater Equipment
No, not an HTPC. It is like a software that combines all services into one. I swear he mentioned the exact name but I do not remember. -
A Zephyrus? Wanna send some pics lol. I have a 4 year old ASUS Rog and it doesn't have anything like that. Try and go to device manager and update all your drivers.
-
Linus has talked about an All in One media platform that streams everything from netflix, amazon, hulu, etc on the WAN show multiple times. It basically combines everything into one. Does Linus have a specific one in mind or does it not actually exist yet?
-
Yes, you can use different resolution monitors with ease. In the control panel, the 4k display will look 4 times as large as the 1080p one because it was 4 times as many pixels. But both will connect and be useable just fine.
-
Yes, it is very possible. You should have no issue with that.
-
Not if you want to run very high refresh rates. If you can afford the 1080, you might as well pick it up.

Plan for 1st Build Version 3 : Am I Crazy?
Rezalis replied to orbitalbuzzsaw's topic in New Builds and Planning
No, you are not crazy. That is an excellent choice for gaming. Might want to consider the i5 - 7600k to save some cash while still having great gaming performance. Or get a Ryzen 5 1600. -
Get a gtx 1070 for 1080p
