  1. Hello there! I have recently got a second hand Asus N751JX notebook (i7-4720HQ, GTX 950M), and planning on using it as my new college laptop ( it will mostly sit on the table, the main point was the 17.3" panel, size and weight are no issues with me. I have a WDS240G2G0B m.2 SSD (SATA3) from my previous Acer Aspire e5-771g (i5-4210U, GTX 840M), it is working perfectly, and I was planning on just snapping it in the Asus and calling it a day. However, Despite the N751JX having the m.2 port accessible right beside the dual HDD ports and the RAM slots, the SSD does not show up in either the BIOS or in Windows... Is it possible that the m.2 port is soldered on, but disabled and/or missing logic board components required to operate? I was not able to find any meaningful data on this, the laptop is running the latest BIOS version. I'm now planning on buying a SATA3 SSD, but it is a damn shame that the port is there but it's not working Thanks in advance, Joseph T
  2. I have an excellent condition XPS l501x laptop for travel use, and soon it will be my main computer in college. The notebook boasts a mighty i5 460m dual core CPU, paired with an nVidia GeForce 420m. Recently I have got my hands on a damaged Asus notebook, which has a quad-core i7 740qm. I was wondering if I could upgrade the CPU of my Dell, but looking around the internet discouraged me. Could somebody give advice about the situation? As far as I know the "Optimus" feature will not work with a quad-core, (because it has no GPU integrated,) therefore the XPS' motherboard will not boot with the i7. But there were l501x-es with 740qm-s and GF435m-s inside, which GPUs also have Optimus capability.
