    1. Download the Linux Mint ISO
    2. Make a bootable USB using Linux Live USB Creator or Rufus
    3. Boot your PC using the USB. (usually a key to enter boot menu)
    4. Once you boot from the USB, there should be a install Linux Mint option, then just follow the instructions.
    5. For install location, select the partition you created.

according to the winehq database and reddit the game can be run using the directx10 version. You might want to give it a shot.

Newegg is a reputable store, as long as the item you buy is said to be sold and shipped from Newegg and not some third party using the newegg marketplace. (similar to how Amazon has items that are fulfilled by Amazon and others by third party)

EVGA and Gigabyte are pretty solid.
    MSI isn't bad either.

Get a ryzen 5 and an asus or gigabyte b350 motherboard you could go for a x370 because it has more features you might use but it is more expensive

I like Gigabyte and Asrock's higher end boards.

Asus all the way, only boards ive personally used, where the manufacturer provided software actually gives you full control over the board. MSI boards have too many bugs for me, and the fan profiling software is garbage. Never used Gigabyte. Asrock are shit, but Asrock Rack (a different branch of Asrock) are awesome.

    BTW get ryzen 5.
I dont really have a preference for motherboards but for B350 i would get the PC MATE or gaming3 if you have the money. For X370 the msi boards are good and not too expensive.

Gigabyte, MSI and Asus would be my recommendation, though I´m a bit dissapointed with my current Asus one

I've been running Ubuntu on my 2008 4,1 macbook (intel processor) and it's been going alright. Only big issue I have is the wifi card since it use proprietary drivers that aren't too good (broadcom card). I would really double check what wifi card model you have an double check if there is a good open source driver available. Trackpad worked weird on some other distributions but it's good on ubuntu and I have more clicking options / control than what I had on snow leopard. Function keys work (except those that were linked to specific mac app like the exposé or dashboard, I didn't link them to the appropriate linux alternative yet).

I would suggest keeping it to a lightweight DE, unity 8 works but it can be a little sluggish from time to time on my macbook.

Also, you might have a look at macfanctld (ubuntu manual) (git page), it can be used to control fan speed on some macbook models if yours gets too hot.

Also using rEFInd to dual boot with osX snow leopard.
