  1. It will most likely being single thread utilization but I plan to run multiple instances of it at once since I will need to validate it. I know the 1500x would probably be better value but I would like the 6 cores for multi-tasking.
  2. Thank you. Will keep that in mind and check the second hand market.
  3. There are no AMD cards here. A GTX 1060 6GB is R 5750 (435 dollars). For reference the MSI GTX 1050 ti was R 3000 (227 dollars)
  4. I am mostly creating this post to make sure this build has no compatibility issues. With regards to the GPU the prices here are crazy right now. I was waiting for vega 56 to get here but since its prices is going up I can no longer afford it. I am rather going to get a nice GTX1050 TI right now and consider upgrading once Nvidia launches their next GPU line. Budget & Location: I'm located in South Africa so our prices are a little higher than the general American prices. My budget is around 1000 dollars but don't worry about recommendations based on price; I am more interested in compatibility and performance. Aim: So I am doing my Masters in Engineering and my project is to develop a Digital Image Correlation program over the next year. This means that the computer will be used to for hours on end to manipulate images and do calculations based on image data. I also plan to use it for gaming. At the moment I mostly play League Of Legends but i plan to start playing some more single player games like Fallout 4, Battlefield 1 and games that will be coming like Beyond Good and Evil 2, Far Cry 5 and the coming star wars game. But if I do play these heavier titles I will probably buy a better GPU later on. Monitors: I have one 1080p monitor. Don't plan on buying another monitor for a long time. Peripherals: Got a mechanical keyboard and a mouse so I'm sorted Why am I upgrading: I currently use a Lenovo e530 laptop. It's still great for general use but I want a proper PC. Details: Case - InWin 101 black (I like the look and it's the cheapest case that I can find with a dust filter which is important to me - my house is very dusty) https://www.inwin-style.com/en/gaming-chassis/101/ Power Supply - Super Flower 650W 80+ silver (I have already bought this - it will fit in the case and had dual 8 pins for vega) http://www.super-flower.com.tw/products_detail.php?class=2&sn=24&ID=124&lang= CPU - AMD Ryzen R5 1600 (6 cores will allow me to run multiple instances of the program, I am developing, at once which will help me with productivity) Motherboard - MSI B350M Mortar (Can overclock the ram to atleast around 3000MHz and it has 4 ram slots for expansion) https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B350M-MORTAR.html#productFeature-section Cooler - Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK (Will allow me to overclock the 1600 and keep the temperatures reasonable - I know the 1600 comes with a stock cooler but I want to keep it at comfortable temperatures with a moderate overclock - 3.8 GHz if possible) http://www.phanteks.com/PH-TC12DX.html GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gaming X 4GB (It will be fine for most of the games I will be running) https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1050-Ti-GAMING-X-4G.html#hero-overview RAM - Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4-3200MHz CL16 288-Pin 1.35V Black Low-Profile Desktop Memory (want to have it running at around 3000 MHz) http://www.corsair.com/en-eu/vengeance-lpx-16gb-2x8gb-ddr4-dram-3200mhz-c16-memory-kit-black-cmk16gx4m2b3200c16 Fans - Thermaltake Riing 12 High Static Pressure White LED 3 Fans (two on intake and one on exhaust) http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00003037 Storage- I will get a 120GB SSD for the operating systems (Windows and Linux) and a HDD for other stuff Additional info: Was going for a black and white build with the saphire RX 580 but there aren't any of those here. I might 3D print a white shroud for the GPU if it's possible. Is buying the after-market cooler a waste or would it be better for the longevity of the CPU?
