  1. RX 550 seems to be under $100 at microcenter so that seems to be a good bet. Thanks.
  2. Title. They do NOT need to be 4K gaming capable and frankly I ask you completely ignore the concept of gaming with this question as this will be for a business oriented build that pretty much doesn't even need a GPU for what it's doing. Just want to take strain off the CPU to squeeze out performance while also allowing the PC to be capable of outputting to three 4K Monitors simultaneously. Thanks in advance!
  3. The thing is, supposedly, with excel more cores translates to more performance. As I have done no testing personally I cannot say this definitively though.
  4. Frankly what would be a good build overall that can kill whatever excel style workload a person can throw at it. Now, I say budget fairly loosely in that the whole PC needs to stay around $2000-$2500USD and with the ridiculous price of xeons and quadros it's hard to really tell what I need and what I could live with. Also, would a Ryzen CPU as an alternative to a Xeon be a suitable pick? Oh and I know this isn't the right thread but how much do GPUs actually affect performance with this type of thing? The whle thing with GPU acceleration and all that mixed with what seems to be the majority of people saying having a beefy GPU won't make a difference has left me a bit confused and torn and without any real way to test differences in performance between say a 1050 ti vs 1080 vs quadro p5000 myself, I've become a little lost with the whole matter. Thanks in advance for any help and constructive input!
  5. So I just got the Lian Li PC-O6S fully aware my graphics card would be too long to allow the hard drive cage to stay put (attached picture) so I figured I'd just stuff my drive somewhere else. As of right now all I can think of that will keep it secure is inside the CD slot. I would've put it all the way inside but it's too perfect a fit for any rubber washers and so this is what I've come up with (see picture). So, is this safe? Will I have problems with it overheating for some reason? Etc. Thanks in advance!
  6. Title It looks like they sholuld still be going for around $70 yet its hard to not find one under $20 on sale so I'm just curious as to what's going on and if there's a reason behind it (i.e. a reason that would make it not worth it to just pick one up for lulz) Thanks!
  7. no but the problem with that is the two male hdmis are micro and mini on that. i need mini and standard
  8. Basically I'm trying to turn one of my Raspyberrypi Zeros into plug and play type device like an oversized thumb drive. So, ignoring all other concerns you may have with what I'm trying to do, is there such a thing as what would essentially be a 0 foot mini hdmi to hdmi cable? Think like the attached picture but without the top end and instead with the specified ports Thanks!
  9. Would it be more worthwhile to go for a 120 or 240mm rad AIO or would I be fine just sticking with as cheap aircooler like the Hyper 212?
  10. Now I doubt what I've got going is the best setup but what I did was have 2 140mm in the front (intake) (On a rad with 2 more for push pull but you can ignore that I guess if you aren't going liquid), a 140mm in the back (exhaust), and 3 120 on top (exhaust) at the lowest possible voltage that would still allow them to spin (Basically just for aesthetics cuz all the fans are LED, didn't want to screw the airflow by having too much exhaust) So basically if you were to put the 3 fans on top, I'd do what I did. Though I wouldn't be surprised if cooling-wise, the three 120mms in from with a 140 in back would be more efficient. Also, honestly, the standard setup as the case comes if perfectly fine though if I were you I'd move the front 140mms up higher to direct more air on the components.
  11. I finally built my first PC and wanted to know what my overclocking potential (and how to do it) is. Asus Strix GTX 1080 ti I7-7700K w/ Corsair H115i Thanks for your time!
  12. Just want to know if there are any advantages/disadvantages with using one over the other and if it's worth buying something like the ASUS Hyper M.2 Thanks!
  13. Title. Also, while I have you fine fellows, do you think I could put a gigabyte 1080 ti ( https://pcpartpicker.com/product/2TgPxr/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-11gb-gaming-oc-11g-video-card-gv-n108tgaming-oc-11gd ) In there instead? As in fit/overheat too easily. And if you think it would overheat too easily would an AIO with a mounting bracket be a plausible option? (I'm asking about the gigabyte as a price saving alternative for the Corsair Hydro. Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated) Thanks for your time!
