I find it amusing that this thread quickly derailed. It's really the mark of the Linux community, because everybody can have their own way.

We definitely are doing more Linux content in the future, and I definitely do intend to do more work on it. The way things went down previously, either we didn't have a whole lot of time to delve into things, or we just didn't have the resources - When we shot our Proton video, Proton was literally a couple days old. There wasn't a ProtonDB or any compatibility list to refer to other than Steam's whitelist, or really any troubleshooting. By the time the video dropped, however, that all changed.

Now, that's not to defend some of the things that went on in that video, but what I'm actually trying to say is that the next video will be done right, and I'll probably actually take @dragodin up on their offer and post in the linux_gaming subreddit when the time comes. I also probably won't make Linus bumble through it solo next time, either... I rather think the noob/mentor dynamic we have together works pretty well for stuff like this.

I've actually been thinking of moving over to Mint or Manjaro for my home PC, so it'll all be useful for me personally, too.

Another guy from /r/linux_gaming here, I've got a lot of experience with the AMD side of Linux gaming, and know how to walk you through setup of things on most distros (Debian, Ubuntu, fedora, arch Linux,Solus, manjaro, and some others).

The fact that Linux just works is not an understatement, but it does depends on the point of view:
-if you are targeting a daily-driver to open emails and browse the web and such yes.
-If you are targeting server stuff yes.
-If you are targeting gaming....uh...no...it doesn't...it needs some tricks here and there but it has improved A SHITTON over the last months.

Gaming could greatly be a lot better if the choice to install proprietary (and recent drivers) were to some extent slightly easy (like being recommended at startup and you click a button and done), DXKV/Lutris coming included as well as all dependencies and such....

AMD is for the smart spender who has a budget small enough that doesn't allow you to get a top-tier GPU.

If Zen 2 actually manages to beat Intel in the only thing they are currently good at (single core performance), then it's gonna be an interesting turn for the PC building community.

Video was interesting. Title was crap.

    I hate this title.
This just feels needlessly clickbait. It's now "Is AMD for poor people?" while you could have made a much more honest and interesting title by calling the video something like "Is AMD the budget option? A look at Intel vs. AMD budget value" or something similar.
That is a much more honest and straight to the point title.

I can't wait for the next video from you guys, "is Intel for bozos that like overpaying???" /s

Separate from the title, I felt the video was neat, I liked it. More PC builds, especially in these type of price ranges please!

When Intel only makes sense if you buy an i7 or i9... Seriously it still bothers me people who insist on building with the i5 9600K, so overpriced for what it really is.

i3 8350K? why would any one pay the premium for an i5 7600K rebrand that can't keep up with a RTX 2060? lel

Zen 2 might change reality across the board, how exciting.

What are those so so many reasons? Care to elaborate on those reasons? You did not really base your opinions with anything, (only that non sense about European  quality) but you must have some real reasons for saying what you said, or wrote to be exact.

They re produced a lot less because not so many brands use Zealios. They are nice switches, definitely not better build quality or materials and tooling than Cherry but about the feel as i said it is totally subjective. They might feel better and that's ok. As i said i am using Chinese switches as a daily driver.

that is the only concern when buying PSUs used.

PSUs are just about the last thing people sell from their systems, and there is often a reason behind selling it. especially when its a high wattage, high quality unit.

PSUs can be rather expencive in other countries, so the price isnt half bad.
the issue is "why is he selling it?". The PSU itself has good enough quality to the point it should survive, but it can be a DOA unit that the buyer noticed late.
warranty can be a pain. esepcially with the varying degree of consumer protections in different countries
  20. Agree
Settlerteo reacted to GoldenLag in Buying used psu
there are some tier A PSUs with that wattage. and they are around that price, but that is purely on a country to country basis.

if he can get a Tier A PSU at that price id get that instead. but for it not being the US, 70$ for that PSU aint half bad of a deal.

The issues you re running into now are not due to the rooter but due to your adsl connection. Once you change to fiber optic, you will probably experience a "whole new internet"

Yes, that is what Warranty is for.
That is why the EU makes Warranty Laws.
That is why manufacturers offer you a Warranty.

I don't know about statistics, its saidthat if the unit survives the first couple of months, it will be fine for the next couple of years.

Its really not a big deal, just RMA the unit, get a new one and be happy.

    PS: Why 850W??
IF you need 850W, you'd look at HX850 (Platinum or i) if you stay within the Corsair lineup.
Otherwise the RMx/i might be a better choice anyway...
