  1. After a fresh Windows 10 install we still are getting these crashes (happened twice yesterday). I read over other forum posts. It seems to me that TMPIN7 usually reads high. This is because AsRock sets a 20degree offset (which happens on this motherboard). If we had used HWinfo we'd see Tctl and Tdie. Tctl should be TMPIN7 with that 20C offset compared to Tdie. Someone else asks about TMPIN7 -Also AsRock 20 Degree Offset - Reddit Another Users AsRock Steel Legend B450 "I hope he can read Portuguese" Here are attached temperatures (idle and Prime95 5minute test) Appreciate your suggestions as we dig into this issue.
  2. I am not too familiar with the temps as much. It was showing 30degC on CPU on idle (image attached). We did run synthetic tests a while back, but no force crashes from those. We replaced the Displayport cable before, no change there. We actually gave the shop the same monitor (KB+M maybe?) when testing. We have had upgraded the setup over time, so crashes happened with other peripherals. We just fresh installed Windows 10 today. Updated drivers and going off of one OS drive for now.
  3. I don't know why I never thought of doing this. We'll try that this week - from scratch. I'll keep this updated. Thanks
  4. Troubleshooting my brother's PC we are now looking at three options: Change CPU, MB or BOTH This has been over 2 years with these issues, which randomly happens while using it (not program specific) Looking at our options. Appreciate the help. Types of Issues: 1. PC stutters and goes into sleep mode. Followed by Monitor goes black, PC is still lit up KB+M do not wake up the PC 2. BSOD crashes (multiple types) "DPC Watchdog Violation" is most recent Fixes to system to date: Changed PSU from Gigabyte 750W to EVGA BQ 750W Changed GPU from EVGA GTX 1070 to ZOTAC 1060 6GB Changed RAM from Team Group 2x8GB to G.Skill 2x8GB Also changed clock speeds for each set of ram (with and without XMP profiles) Sent in April 2021 to PC repair shop. PC was tested with updated BIOS (crashes did not happen). Issue came up 2 weeks later, so not. 5. @brob Thanks for your help. I ordered the parts Mon./Tues. Here is the final list. Bonus: The black and white version of the Enthoo Pro Case comes with 3 fans (instead of 2) plus 2 RGB Halos for the front for only $20 more. I got 3 Arctic 140mm fans for the top of the case. It will go nice with the MB. Glad I got insurance b/c the I9-9900K box was cracked! It was packaged with the MB (I will opt to swap out the MB). Making the report atm. Box was packed with 6ft of packing paper at the TOP OF THE BOX ?
  6. I assume H.264/ H.265 (getting clarification from them). Not sure of the exact plugins they use, but it is a good question. I guess when I am adding the fans, the cost of the Define S2 comes close to the case I had. I could swap around the fans. I choose the case because of its size for hard drive expansion for archiving/backups. That was a future plan. In regards to connectivity if I have USB-C at the back of the MB, why should I need a 2nd one at the front of the case too? (Asking politely) I was looking into the Intel 660p specifically and while it is priced good I don't think it fits. QLC has it perform worse as it gets full and doesn't do well w/ large files. There was another LTT Forum Post (660p vs 860evo) about it. I still want to find a good NVME ( maybe 1TB), but it depends. I may have to keep searching Better to be safe. LPX is a good choice for that exact reason. Thanks for your help.
  7. Just for intro I have early experience PC building as I built my own PC and my brother's just this year. I have been into PC gaming etc. for a quite a few years. I have a bit of experience video editing myself, but its mainly for hobby. I use Sony Vegas 14 (thanks Humble Bundle) , so I don't have knowledge of how it changes in Adobe Premiere. Looking for final opinions on this build I am making for a friend who is doing video editing for weddings. They currently work in 1080p and plan to move into editing 4K footage. There old system tends to crash often and render times take hours. Now they have got better optimizing the render times, but it can still crash. PC Gaming is also the secondary use of the system. CURRENT SITUATION The Old PC i7-4770K @ 3.5GHz GTX 770 (didn't look up model for VRAM) 16GB DDR3 RAM Kingston 120GB SSDNow V300 Seagate 1TB HDD 7200RPM External Seagate USB3.0 Drive (4TB?) Windows 10 Now typically there are 2 projects at a time with 100-200GB file size per project (now this will change substantially in 4K, so I will have to increase storage size). I assume they edit off of the HDD b/c I was told the SSD was only for programs. NEW SYSTEM - 4K This system will change the workflow a ton. I imagine that they could fly through edits if optimized well. Looking at Puget Systems tutorial "Optimizing Storage for Adobe Pro" I planned on a 3 SSD solution. (1 SSD for OS/Programs) (1 NVME for Project Files) (1 SSD for Scratch Files) Now is it possible that the 3 SSD setup is overkill?Maybe, perhaps other ppls experience can pitch in. One of Pugets prebuilt 4K systems shows 64GB, but in my build I used 32GB (maybe that's bad I don't know) No overclocking for the system. I have no experience here either, but this system is more reliable without it. Air cooling is for low maintenance. I have no experience in water cooling and would not want to run that risk for the end user. I researched AIO water cooling, but it is not worth taking a chance. Noctua NH-D15 was noted as the best for the i9-9900K. 8. Thanks. I did not know about the Hue, but I feel like there would be an existing alternative by now, physical or software.
  9. Would it be possible to create a custom rgb loop on my PC? I have certain options within MSI Mystic Light for example, but I would like to make my own loop. My MB has its own lighting and I have 2 rgb strips hooked into the RGB headers. TLDR: I want to make my RGB change between 2 colours, most likely fadein and fadeout. Is there a program already made for this? has it been done before?
  10. It's $75 Canadian or $55 US and its regular price avg around $130CAD ($96US) before tax. I was not aware of the noise, thanks for telling me. I'll need to reconsider since this is still my first build from scratch. I just checked in the online manual and it covers 10 years, so there is plenty of life in it. But of course no warranty for a used purchase. Thanks for the advice everyone I am already starting better off than I first was. I may still check it out since it's nearby and even then Boxing Day deals are also getting close (so I guarantee the warranty).
  11. I saw this ad online, which is local in my area, so I know I can at least see it in person. I tend to be pretty observant when it comes to buying used items. I suspect it could have been used for mining (seeing the stack of RX 580's), but there is also 2 PSUs so it could potentially be from 2 different builds. It was bought for $130+tax and the seller has it for $75. It's claimed to be used for only 3 months, which can only be confirmed if they can show the invoice. I thought a discussion could benefit everyone especially those searching in the used market.
