Is there DLSS 2.0 on RTX 2XXX series cards?
Dr. KEK replied to PobloPomodoro's topic in Graphics Cards
Wow squeaky clean thanks -
I got downvoted to hell in r/nvidia for saying that before the 3080 was launched, I am frustrated I was right, but i find it funny this is the new norm
-
Sorry i couldn't hear you over my Klipsch audio system

The 3070 should be anywhere from equal, to 20% better than a 2080 Super. It depends on the scenario. I think they have better RTX "units". From what I can tell, there are some scenarios where the 2080 Super is better, because of the memory bandwidth - they seem to have castrated the 3070 (look at the bus width). Again, I'm not sure who is panicking besides people who sold their cards BEFORE the launch - now I see virtually every nvidia card being gouged. I'm surprised to find out I could sell my 2070 Super currently for 20% more than I paid for it 10 months ago, which is ridiculous.

I don't think anyone is panicking, especially the people that had the budget to buy the top of the line graphics card in the first place. The only panic I see is due to lack of stock anywhere, I have no idea why someone would sidegrade from a 2080 to a 3060ti. Personally I will be putting my RTX2070 Super in my wife's computer(she has a RX 480 right now) and getting a 3080 whenever they are in stock. I particluarly want the Gigabyte VISION version that looks nice.

What does your company offer as a work computer?
Dr. KEK replied to Shepanator's topic in General Discussion
I recently changed to i7 9800X and 32GB RAM. But the dumb IT guys only used 2 DIMMs... so my gotdam computer is running on dual channel LOL. I figure the next time I need memory it'll switch to quad channel. Other quirky thing is they used a pretty garbage 2.5" HDD inside this nice tower. So will probaly ask for SSD first. I use Readyboost on a 32GB Samsung Bar Plus flash drive, it helps a LOT -
i7 7820x you better have good CPU cooler. Even EVGA CLC280 barely keep up with my i7 7800x

Amazon has the Gigabyte UD4 Pro board for $99. I purchased one along with a i7-7800X and some DDR4 3200MHz. For a total of $676, I have a good CPU/MOBO/RAM running at 4.7GHz. My 7800X is one of the worst binned I've encountered, but still hits 4.7GHz at 1.33v. At work I run 4.8GHz at 1.225v I would wait for next Intel release if you want more than 12 cores, because that require motherboard more than $99. AMD motherboard is so overpriced, and new Ryzen still has driver issue and typical excuses going on. Also, QUAD CHANNEL MEMORY. Lots of PCIE lanes. https://www.amazon.com/d/Computer-Motherboards/GIGABYTE-X299-UD4-Pro-Motherboard/B07B79CF9R

I have a old X58 motherboard with a Xeon, and a spare R9 270x. Could I make a good hackintosh from that?

Update: put in another 32GB so this station has 64GB ram. Still running like a charm. Thought it was cute they did a LTT on 3D CAD system build - with RX480 or RX580 listed as recommended. Sounds familiar

If only you could see all those pixels! Our goal at my workplace is to realize your best acuity. Optometry has fallen behind, but we are pushing. I see 20/8 and wish the rest of the world could see how true and crisp life can be

SSE4.1 requirement is quite low... that's first generation i7. 2008-2009.

Lol keep your 1151 socket for minecraft ???? Just Turing card, lowest one they offer. Needed something solidworks certified. Spoiler alert: AMD still sucks. 1151 peons still jealous they made a stink "nobody needs PCIE lanes" and then NVME slapped them silly Our C++ compiling machines run 4.8GHz 7800x, solidworks could use 2 more cores, so went with 7820x.
