It's more like a total ripoff of another total ripoff, because the new Xbox looks just like the Corsair One prebuilt computer.
It just looks like cases that are literal towers are the new hot thing, and everyone will make one eventually. There's Corsair, Phanteks, now NZXT, and soon Xbox. Now we just need the big boys like Fractal Design and Lian Li to join the party.

    Suggestion:
    1. You could go for a Ryzen 2700 instead of the 2700 X - this will free up money for upgrading other components.

    Questions:
    1. If you are looking at 60fps on high settings, why are you looking at 144hz  monitors?
    2. Will you be gaming on both the screens at the same time, or will use one screen only to game?

So to be clear, $3 subs are being grandfathered. Dial back the anger because if you're already subscribed NOTHING has changed.

At some point the plan IS for that to be for LTT only (including the bts and exclusive stuff) BUT I've left room to reverse that decision. We're just bumping the LMG price to $5 for now.

The decision here was made to ensure that LMG doesn't create an unrealistic bar for other creators on Floatplane to meet. We will lose some subs, but at the end of the day LMG's loss could be the gain of another smaller creator (like eposvox, Kyle or tech deals) and I'm comfortable with that.

Understand that fp is closer to a patreon-like model (supporting creators you like) than a Netflix model (paying to watch exclusive content). These changes are to ensure that a greater portion of the money being contributed is going to the creator vs the platform or payment processor.

Kinder eggs, ya get some awesome chocolate and a nifty little toy to occupy a niece/nephew/child with for 3hrs; for a whole dollar.  Everyone wins.  They're nothing like loot boxes.

Only if you get a cardboard puzzle. When they were running special series with figurines like crocs, lions, hippos, penguins and turtles, they were pretty cool. I still remember those we were collecting as kids and we played with them. Good old days. And they were surprisingly well made. Solid plastic that had to be at least partially hand painted coz no way machine could do it all.

I cannot see this working well for 90% of people due to shoddy Internet connections. I love the idea of a service for game but this is too much money and this has all been tried before and is a very outdated idea. People like to own their games and have them on hand, i for one like being able to resell media and hardware, i dislike not having access to old games that i love and keep playing that wont necessarily be available to me through a library of online games. Most people from what i can tell like to just have a console with minimal fuss, the good old saying "It just works", where as this wont.  It will heavily depend on how much you are willing to pay to you ISP and most people wont want to pay a large chuck of money for this(Which will be needed for true 4K 60FPS not that i believe that can deliver this down your Internet connection) and the fee for this service. To me this is just another attempt at a very outdated idea that just isn't practical in the real world. Disk-less machines are the way forward at the moment and XBOX have the right idea on this one. I don't like a digital download only world but it is very doable and reduces the cost of hardware to a degree. Well thats my rant over and i'm sure this will trigger a whole bunch or snowflakes.

    2. 144hz is much better than 60hz, especially for gaming. Looks so much better
    3. BenQ has great monitors! Suprised you didn't find any reviews for it. However, I would personally go for the ASUS VG278Q.

razaldo reacted to GoldenSound in Mic sounds terrible?
    Be careful with this.
This is changing both bit-depth and sample rate. And you shouldn't just whack it to the max. You'll make quality worse not better

Audio can be converted to a higher or lower bit-depth without issue, but changing sample rate means it needs to be digitally re-sampled, and that can make audio sound worse.

Ideally, you should choose the highest bit depth your device supports (usually 16 or 24 bit), and then either 44.1khz or 48khz

Almost all music services including lossless ones such as Tidal stream at 44.1khz (excluding master recordings)
And most system sounds are 44.1khz too.

Many games run at 48khz however.

In general, leave your sample rate at 44.1khz

Putting it to 192khz or something won't increase sound quality. It will make it worse because all you are doing is forcing ALL of your audio sources (which will all be 44.1khz or 48khz) to go through re-sampling (and the windows re-sampling really is not great)

razaldo reacted to jakkuh_t in Help Scientists Cure Cancer with your PC! - Folding @ Home
    Hey everyone! ?

I'm here to talk to y'all about Cancer, Alzheimer's, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's. They're are all terrible diseases that have had an affect on nearly everyone in one way or another, and we want to help. Researching these conditions in an attempt to cure them is an incredibly expensive endeavor, but for many people, donating to fund these causes isn't an option. Thankfully, there is still something we all can do: Folding @ Home

With your gaming PC, laptop, server, or really any computer, you can donate processing power from your CPU or GPU when you're not using them to help run calculations on a vast number of distributed computation projects. This massive shared computational power can help researchers learn more about these diseases in an effort to better treat them, and it can make a HUGE difference in the fight to conquer them. To achieve this huge collaborative effort, Stanford University started developing the Folding @ Home project, all the way back in the year 2000. It's a simple software you can run on your PC that automagically uses your processing power when idling (or full time if you desire) for the previously mentioned calculations.

In exchange for your valiant processing effort, you can earn points that show off your contribution to find the cures, in the form of a friendly competition. The LinusTechTips community & forum has had a folding team, number 223518, since 2013 and we'd love for you all to join it!

You can fold with pretty much anything, your dad's old dell prebuilt, a top tier RTX rig, or presumably even a Raspi. Every little bit helps

To help promote the project we're going to give away a couple awesome prizes! ?

For each of these GPUs, we will put up an entry form on November 23rd, 2018 at 11:00 AM PST where you will be able to submit a link to your folding profile as well as a photo of your folding rig and we will select 2 random winners from these submissions.
