  1. Is it safe to use the CM MasterGel Maker on a laptop? I'm concerned about scratching the die, since the paste contains diamond particles in it.
  2. I'm going to install a 480GB SSD on my friends notebook and i know for a fact that she will fill the drive up (even if i told her not to) hence making it slower. Can formatting the drive to a smaller size prevent the SSD from clogging up (i.e 80GBs will remain not partitioned.)? Are there any better solutions for this problem ?
  3. Hello everyone, i was wondering if 1 gram of thermal paste is enough for re pasting 4 dies ? 2 mobile CPU (7700hq and 4700hq) and 2 mobile GPU ( gtx 1070 and gtx 970m).
  4. yep it did the same thing. I tried to disable the discrete gpu (amd hd7550m/6550m series) but somehow system doesn't seem to detect the integrated gpu, i couldn't find an option in the bios either. Processor is an i3- 2370M.
  5. As you can see in the pictures and the video my screen randomly starts to display red flickering stripes, sometimes diagonal dots or just goes full dwarf fortress. Any ideas what's going on with my laptop ? WhatsApp Video 2019-08-04 at 23.11.18Trim.mp4
  6. As the title says i cannot decide. I'll be using the tablet mostly to look at my textbooks and watch Netflix, Youtube eg. For the price ipad seems a bit overkill but i'm concerned about the SD670 in the S5e getting outdated pretty fast. Is there another alternative to these tablets or should i just buy one of them ?
  7. With that CPU you shouldn't experience bottlenecks except some cpu heavy games like battlefield.
  8. If it's still under warranty you probably should.
  9. Afaik LCD displays cannot experience burn ins. It could be the panel struggling to change its polarization due to its controller.
  10. After 3-4 restarts intel xtu changes its settings by itself. When i open xtu, the apply button flashes, sometimes it increases the avx ratio offset or decreases core voltage to 0. Another issue is even though it displays -130mV core voltage offset on default (i don't know how that happens) there seems to be no decrease in my temps. Is the issue related to software? I'm using an 7700HQ.
  11. I am not sure but it can be happening due to bad application of thermal paste in factory, as your cpu isn't able to pass its heat to the heat pipes. Or as you said it's the thermal sensors misreading the temperatures.
  12. You can try undervolting your cpu, that way you can bring your temps down about 5-10c. If you are willing to risk your warranty you can apply a higher quality thermal paste. (That sudden increase in temps are normal when going from idle to active. )
  13. If you are going to use this system as a workstation, you should go with at least an i7 8700K or a 7820X imo, that is if you have enough room in your budget.
  14. I think you took off the gpu's ihs, you can see the nvidia branding (i don't know if that is possible), you can just replace the thermal paste and then put it back altogether.
  15. An i5 8400H is roughly equivalent (if not better) to mobile i7 7700HQ, which is nearly 80% powerful as desktop i7 7700. I personally would go with a i7 8750H for creative work but since you are in a tight budget an i5 8400H is probably the best option for you.
