  1. Thank you for the Reply. The one friend said that he is sending the Strix RTX 3070 Ti out shortly so should have it in a few weeks to pair with the Ryzen 7 2700 soon. Glad to hear that the 1600X is also a good pairing for the 3070 probably go the 1070-3070 budget permiting when the funds come in for that system instead of sticking to the NVidia for the I7 as it was just due to the casual video editing that I was thinking a GTX upgrade to replace the GTX 760 with. My 2 Slot Strix RX 580 will at least fit in the HP case for that system.
  2. I currently have a few systems that I am thinking of upgrading the GPUs on and was looking for suggestions on optimal combination options. I don't need to worry about more than 60 FPS and anything higher than 1920x1080 Resolution as all my Displays are only 60 hrtz and 1080P at the most so just trying to figure out optimal pairings. Most of my Cases are limited to 305/310mm Length other than the HP System which is Max Length 241mm/9.5 inches and 2 Slots in Height. Only looking at possibly replacing the GPUs and nothing else in the systems and preferably just getting 1 or 2 replacement GPUs since the option to move current cards around. For the First/Newest system I have a Ryzen 7 2700 paired with a Strix RX-580-O8G-Gaming and Fractal Ion+ 860P PSU that may possibly be getting an used Stix RTX 3070 Ti to pair with it from a friend. (Primary Gaming system of course) Second System is a Ryzen 5 1600X with an ASUS Dual RX-480-O4G and a EVGA 650W PSU currently. (Back up Gaming system for guests or if my Primary is down for maintenance reasons) Third System is a Stock HP Envy Pheonix 810-209 with the I7-4770K and HP GTX 760 192bit OEM 1.5GB, 460W PSU. Has limited over clocking potential and is the only one That I really want to stick with the Default GPU "Brand" for as it is meant for casual video editing. The 1.5GB on the card really holds the system back so was figuring a GTX 1050/1060 would probably be the optimal to pair with it between case/Cooling/PSU limitations on this system unless a GTX 16 series card possibly fits or pairs. (Video Editing/Dedicated Game server Host/Guest system) The GPU in this system frequently over heats and shuts down the system/goes to an unrecoverable black screen when running Eve Online or Conan Exiles leading to the looking for upgrade suggestions. A 4th System is a Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition running a Radeon HD 6870 1GB that had the RX 480 in it before getting the Ryzen 5 1600X system. Had about the same Performance as the Ryzen gets with that card on Fallout 76 so probably about the best option for that CPU. (Guest system or Dedicated game server Host) Have a few older sysems like Intel Dual Core E2220, Dual Core E6500, Athlon XP+, Athlon 64, and Athlon 64 X2 that will be able to put use to the "retired" cards in them just for keeping them operational as they are either used for Server or retro software setups so will be keeping all the cards as long as they keep working for me. Games I currently run on the various systems are CyberPunk 2077, SCUM, Conan Exiles, Fallout 76, Warframe, World of Tanks, Mechwarrior Online, The Witcher 3, Eve Online, Black Desert Online and Various other "older" MMORPGs. So thoughts were Ryzen 7 2700 with RTX 3070 Ti, Ryzen 5 1600X with the RX 580, I7 4770K and a GTX 1060, then the Phenom II X4 getting the RX 480 4gb returned to it. That is unless a better option is reccomended to pair with the Ryzen 5 and I7 systems as funds are very limited for me (have around $200 to $300 CAD max Range over the next few months). The Budget I have pretty firmly locks me into the GTX 960/1050/1060/1650/1660 or RX 580 ranges for New cards and Possibly the RTX 2060/3060 Ti max in the used market if going a single GPU. Just don't know if pairing anything beyond a GTX 1060 or RX 580 would be worth the price for the Ryzen 5 and I7 4th gen cpus on the less/limited used systems. I only know that the GTX 760 needs to be replaced soonish but unsure if the RX 580 should go in to that sysem and get a different card for the Ryzen 5 system, or just get a Second RX 580 to run a 580 in both those systems instead of a GTX/RTX in either.
  3. My gaming system is in need of a "new" HDD in the 6-8 TB capacity range. Looking at around the $200 CAD price range which basically puts me at the 5400RPM Barracuda or 7200 RPM Ironwolf. Both are 256MB Cache drives. Already have the Samsung Evo 960 500GB SSD for the OS, a 1TB 5400 RPM Barracuda, 2TB 5900 RPM Barracuda Green and 6 TB 7200 RPM drives in the system. Looking into adding a NVME SSD to possibly setup with the StoreMI on the system using the SATA SSD and moving the OS to the NVME or just using the NVME and the new drive for my primary gaming drive. Will be using all 6 SATA ports on the Strix B450-F between the 4 HDDs, 1 SATA SSD and my Optical drive so the m.2 SATA connection is useless as it disables 2 of the SATA ports. Yes I do still use the Optical Drive for watching DVDs, and Playing/Installing many of my older games that I have on CD/DVD. The PC is also almost always on as I am almost always home due to my own health issues and being the caretaker for my Elderly grandmother. The 3 HDDs are all at 10% or so free space full of games and my internet is too slow to uninstall games that I still play from time to time and redownload them when I feel like playing them again just to spend 2+ Days redownloading. (Only games I really uninstall are MMOs that shutdown but I backup those to DVD for if I want to play them on a private server later. IE Star Wars Galaxies and hopefully Tabula Rasa soon. Still have the Old Retail discs for both of those tho) I am leaning towards the Ironwolf for the 6TB 7200 RPM but at the same time the 8TB 5400 RPM Barracuda is about the same price (only $10 cheaper for the Barracuda when including shipping for the next 5 days). Should I just stick with the Ironwolf option or go for the bit extra Capacity of the Barracuda? Will the StoreMI usage make up enough of a difference for the 1800 rpm slower drive or just sacrifice the extra Drive space and go the Faster/smaller option of the 2?
  4. Temps closer to that range were just related to those being the upper temps on my Phenom II x4 965 BE at a 3.8 OC using the Iceblade 200M. I know it is different architecture and that the Ryzen cpus are still safe at 90-95C. But since the Iceblade 200M maintains a 65-74 when gaming at 3.9/4.0 Just wanted to aim for temps that were 10-15C lower on air cooling if possible. I just can't really find much info on how well the Lucifer K2 is working on current cpus. Just don't want to waste my very limited funds on a product that gets a very marginal increase in performance. Hadn't bothered keeping up on PC tech since the Phenom II x4 965 BE was released as every time I thought about upgrading the improvements that the FX cpus were getting on the games I played over my Phenom were so marginal that it wasn't worth rebuilding my machine until Ryzen was released where the increase was 15 to 20 fps better averages. The FX 8350 in a friends system was getting the same performance in games as my Phenom II x4 using a similar GPU in both (R9 390/RX 480 performance). So I decided not to upgrade the CPU during the FX era and I did not want to buy Intel at all after 3 bad Intel systems in a row years earlier. Now I am trying to get caught up on the cooling options on what are good options in the Air cooling choices while having them fit the aesthetics of my system and the budget of around the $60 CAD which the Lucifer fits the Black and Red as well the price range. Attempting to stay away from the RGB options and most of the light up coolers I am seeing in my price range are Blue lights that don't really for with the colors of the case. If the Lucifer K2 only has about the cooling performance of the Coolermaster 212 Evo then I would be inclined to look into saving the extra bit of money there. But if it does cool better by a decent margin the K2 would be worth it. Just can't find any real info on the K2 for reviews only finding the Older Lucifer V2 reviews.
  5. I was thinking it would work better than the Iceblade 200m but just not sure how close to the 50-55 cel range it would maintain with the 1600x if anyone has used it with the first gen Ryzen X 95 watt series. Wanting to move the Iceblade back to the Phenom II x4 965 black edition system that is setup as a spare/guest/future streaming 2nd system.
  6. Is the Lucifer K2 a decent enough cooler for a 4.1-4.2ghz overclock on the Ryzen 5 1600X? I am currently using the Deepcool Iceblade 200M but it is a bit warm for my personal tastes at 74-78 Cel under load at 3.9ghz. (82 Cel @ 4.1/4.2gzh) When left stock it is generally sitting between 65 and 74 when gaming. I know those temps are still still in the thermal limits but would rather get it running cooler so that when summer comes around I don't have to down clock my OCs on hot days. I am sticking to Air cooling as my pc is almost always on and would rather not have to deal with a pump dying while I am not near the computer at anytime and for the improved air flow around the VRMs. Using the ASUS Prime B350-Plus motherboard, 2x 8GB HyperX Fury 2666 DDR4, my old Thermaltake Armor A60 AMD Leo Edition case. For case fans I have the 200mm top exhaust, 120mm rear exhaust, 2x 120mm front intake, 120mm bottom intake. Sticking to a black and red color theme and only using red lighting in the case. trying to get away from the dual fan cpu cooler idea as the mother board only has 2 chassis fan headers which 1 need to be used for the second cpu fan currently and the rest of the fans are needing to use PWM to molex adaptors currently until I can get the funds together for the Deepcool 4 fan hub that doesn't require "external" power. Gradually getting replacements for the system just to keep it running as I can afford them. Will be replacing all the older 120mm fans with new fans over the summer this year.
  7. Reason for the 6TB size is that with the 1TB and 1.5TB drives that I am replacing are being consolidated to a single games drive and with my very slow internet speed downloading a game every few months when I want to play it again isn't worth eating up all my internet speed for a day an not being able to do anything else on the net. As an example when I downloaded Fallout 4 I had to set the speed at 256 kb/s just so that I could watch netflix and it took me almost 2 full days to download the game even with removing the limit when I went to bed. So I do not uninstall games that I am likely to play again in a few months. The current 2 drives are both failing on me. (Lots of clicking coming from both when I play my games) Both of the drives they are both at 10% free space currently and I have a few other games I have been wanting to play but no space and all the installed games I still play frequently as I am unable to get out of the house due to respiratory complications so lots of time to play games and watch videos. Since I have a very limited income ($145 CAD every 3 months for spending money currently) I am wanting to be sure I have a large enough HDD to last me a couple years. Since last year sping/summer I managed to get enough saved from the quarterly spending money to get the Deepcool Ice Blade 200M cooler to replace the old Stock Phenom II 965 Black edition cooler last October plus bought the Ryzen 5 1600X for less than the 1600 was at that time from saving the money for 6 months and ordering them when the 3rd quarter came in, Then got the ASUS B350 Plus and 8GB of ddr4 2666 memory in January to build the Ryzen machine, Got another 8GB DDR4 2666 stick in April and replaced the 10 year old PSU with the EVGA 650w in the summer here saving the extra towards the HDD for when I get the next bit of spending money in to replace the failing drives. I have been replacing my old 10 year old machine little by little over the last 2 years trying to bring it back to par upgrading parts as they start failing or just need replacing to do what I want to on the pc. 2 years ago in November I replaced the Old HD6870 1GB with the RX-480 4GB so that I could play Fallout 4 smoothly without having parts of the game that dropped to less than 1 fps on the old Phenom II. As for going NAS my machine is almost always on and I have read some where that the Barracuda drives are build for roughly 8 hours a day usage while the NAS is for 24x7 usage. With about 12-16 roughly hours spent daily at the computer and only really shutting down the computer one or twice a week NAS seemed a logical choice. That is apart from the price of the 7200 rpm 6TB Ironwolf NAS drive price being about $20-$30 more than the 5400 rpm 6TB Barracuda and about $100 less than 7200 rpm Barracuda Pro. As for the 3TB 7200 rpm Barracuda that would barely contain what I have on the 2 drives being combined. I would need to get 2 of the drives to have room for the growth of my game collection to be able to reinstall some of the games I have wanted t play again but don't have the room and don't really have the internet to manage a reinstall of what ever I uninstall to in a couple months or weeks to play again. When I want to play a game I don't want to have to wait 12+ hours to reinstall and play. If I have downloaded and played it before in the last say 6 months I want to be able to just update and go. Even updates on some games delay me by 3 to 6 hours with my internet speed. (ie: Mechwarrior online monthly update of approx 1.5gb every month takes about 3 hours to finish the update on steam for me with the speed set to unlimited). On old copper phone lines for adsl where I tend to get a max of 3-5 mbps down and .5-2 mbps up speeds on speed tests. Steam seems to run a max of 965 kbps when downloading with unlimited settings and then no other devices in the house can bring up webpages any faster than dial up could. It is sadly the fastest connection available in the town here last winter we were told that we should be getting Telus Optix ran out here in September... Now that September is here there has been no word on that coming true. As we just got ADSL to the town 2-3 years ago now after fighting for 8 years to get something other than Dial up and Satellite I don't see them getting onto the Optix system any time soon. Even Cell service here is almost non existent, we don't even have an option for cable TV anymore and when we did have the option for it 5 years ago it was just basic cable for the same price as a digital full bundle deal the next town over 20 mins away where they could also get cable internet which wasn't even available here at all. The joke is that this is the Town Time forgot.
  8. I had a Phenom II 965 Black Edition system that had the Radeon HD6870 1GB and 8GB of DDR3 1333 memory during the Destiny 2 beta and just by adding another 4GB of Ram and replacing the 6870 with an RX-480 4GB I improved the system enough to run the game on High settings until I got Ryzen 5 1600X and 16GB of DDR4 2666 memory. Can't remember what I was getting fps wise with the 6870 but the settings were left at default settings for the game and ran smoothly. The main thing to look at upgrading is the Video card I think but not sure you can manage a decent enough upgrade for $70. Maybe try and find something like a GTX 760 or an equivalent /better.
  9. I currently have 1.5TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM ST31500341AS for my general games drive and a 1TB Wester Digital Red 5400 RPM WD10EFRX drive for my steam collection. I am looking at consolidating them to a single 6TB drive. The 2 drives I was debating between are the Seagate IronWolf ST6000VN0033 6TB 7200 RPM 256MB Cache or the Seagate BarraCuda ST6000DM003 6TB 5400 RPM 256MB Cache. The 6 TB Barracuda Pro is out of my budget range, The 2 I am debating between are around the $220-$240 CAD range currently for new drives. My drives it is to replace are almost full and beginning to show signs of dieing after 8 years of operational hours on them. Also as I have slower internet I only uninstall games if I absolutely will not be playing them anytime soon. My computer is almost always on so was leaning towards the Ironwolf drive, but looking for opinions on if that drive would hinder the games I play at all over the specific 5400 Barracuda at a $20 price difference. Some of the larger capacity games I play regularly on my pc are: Fallout 4, Elder Scrolls Online, Skyrim Special Edition, Warframe, The Old Republic, Mechwarrior Online, World of Tanks, World of Warships, Age of Conan, Conan Exiles, Secret World Legends, Lord of the Rings Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Everquest 2, Black Desert online, Monster Hunter World, Ghost Recon Wildlands, The Division, Star Trek Online, Defiance, Battletech, DC Universe Online, Destiny 2, Diablo 3, Neverwinter (MMO), Shadow of Mordor, Saints Row IV, Saints Row the Third, Mass Effect 3, Eve Online, Guild Wars 2, Aion, Blade and Sword, and Life is Feudal. I pretty much use my pc as a whole home entertainment system. I use it for gaming, watching DVDs, Listening to music, streaming my gameplay, chatting with friends in the city that I can't see anymore. It is my primary way of keeping my sanity being stuck in the house due to health issues being unable to get out of the house for anything other than medical appointments while living in a real small town in the middle of Alberta. Very limited income so have to wait for replacing the 500GB system 7200rpm HDD with a 500GB SSD for my machine as the failing games drives replacement is of a higher priority. Current system is a Ryzen 5 1600X, 16GB of 2666 HyperX Fury DDR4, with an ASUS RX-480-O4G. My Main thing is that the HDD is New, gives me the Capacity I need to last me a few years, and is around the $250 CAD or less after taxes without hindering my load times on my games which have been getting drastically worse over the last year on the 2 current drives. So Am I better off with the 7200 RPM Ironwolf or a 5400 RPM Barracuda drive if both have the same cache size of 256MB and 6TB capacity when if comes to the games I play?
  10. The ASUS Tuf B350M Plus is said to be $69 in the video, but when you go to Newegg.com and the Linus Tech Tips sale and the product page on Newegg.com it just comes up as $98.99 still. One of my friends in the US went to order it after seeing the video and couldn't see the stated sale price of $69 for the motherboard. Some of the other items like the Vega 56 are showing as sold out so the sale price should be in effect already but not sure how to get it to come up as the $69 USD price for him.
  11. Been trying to figure out how to get the ASUS Tuf B350M for $69. Can't seem to find a way to have it show up at that price for a friend in the US who is looking at building a Ryzen machine soon. It only keeps listing the $98.99 price. We will keep watching the price on it over the week and see if it shows up as $69 on Friday and over the weekend. Wish I could get it at close to the $70 CAD price here in Canada on newegg.ca so that I could get my Ryzen machine up and running faster.
  12. I am going to be using my old Thermaltake Armor A60 mid tower case. ( Can see specs here http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=c_00001644 ) Using the following components ASUS ROG STRIX or Prime B350 ATX motherboard Ryzen 5 1600 (aiming to run around the 3.9 to 4 ghz speed) ASUS Dual layer SATA DVD burner, 5x 3.5" SATA HDDS, ASUS Radeon RX 480 Dual 4GB OC SPI 600 watt PSU Want to keep the 200mm Exhaust fan on the top So was thinking of doing a 120mm Radiator on the back and possibly one on either the bottom or "in front of the 200 behind the optical drive but not sure about the space required for the rad to fit and have room for the Res. Was looking at using the EKWB a120 and then possibly getting the second 120mm Rad from the series when they start to sell the pieces separate from the kits but couldn't find the dimensions for required space on the Res/pump. The system will be overclocked of course but initially I am just replacing my current Ram, Motherboard and CPU between October and end of November. Then saving for a new Cooling system, PSU and a replacement of each of the 5 drives for larger capacity drives around January and April. Have a couple 500GB drives, a 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB drive and keep running out of space on my drives. The 1.5TB is filled with Steam games. The 1TB has GOG, Origin and various other games not through steam. 1 of the 500GBs is my system drive, The 2 TB is where my downloads and Media files are kept for streaming to the Consoles, laptops and portable devices in the house for the family. Then the other 500GB is the hotswap drive (really have 3 of these 500GB drives that are used in the hotswap for backing up my Steam games, and important files so only counting that as 1 drive in the system). So my questions are. Should I just stick with the single 120 rad on the rear to cool the system along with the 200mm top exhaust fan and 120mm front intake fan? Go for a second 120mm rad on the top with the same fan setup? What are the Dimensions of the EKWB 120mm Rads? What is the space required for the Res/pump unit of the A120/A240 kits?
  13. K thanks for the input on the cpu everyone. Will look at getting the 1600 instead.
  14. Yeah was Yeah it is the one from with my Phenom II x4 965 BE that is cooling the 965 oced @3.7 GHz currently maintaining decent temps during my gaming currently. The Goal on teh CPU choice is to try to prevent having to upgrade the CPU for at least 5 years.
  15. I was curious if anyone has tried using the stock cooler from a Phenom II x4 965 BE on the 1600x. I am looking at getting the 1600x, ASUS ROG STRIX B350-F motherboard, and Mushkin Silverline 16 GB DDR4 kit around the end of November and hen getting the EK Fluid Gaming A120 kit in January (finances permiting). Planning on keeping Stock settings on the 1600X until I can afford the A120 kit then will be overclocking it as it will probably be another 5 to 7 years before I can afford to replace the CPU again. Been using the Phenom II x4 965 BE @3.7GHz, ASUS M4A87TD Evo, Mushkin Silverline DDR3 8GB kit for 7 years already. Replaced the PSU 2 years ago with a SPI 650 watt. The ASUS Radeon HD 6870 DirectCU 1GB was replaced with a RX 480 Dual 4GB OC last November. Then have a SATA Optical DVD-RW, 5 SATA HDD that will be reused from this machine along with my Thermaltake Armor A60 AMD Edition case. Been unable to work a regular job the last 7 years due to health issues so been saving little by little getting upgrades as I can afford them. This next one will be a big one financially for me as the Motherboard, Memory and CPU will be running me about $600 CAD at current prices in an attempt to some what future proof my machine similar to what I did 7 years ago when I built this one up. So am hoping to use the current Stock cooler I have running currently on this one until the funds are there for the A120. (2 to 5 months after building the machine) Saving for Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales on the new parts. Will be playing The Division, Mechwarrior Online, Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 4, Skyrim Special Edition, Shadows of Mordor, and Conan Exiles for some of my slightly more demanding games that this machine just barely runs smoothly but has really long loading times on. Also planing to play Destiny 2 on PC when/shortly after it comes out. Will be not be streaming often until after the liquid cooling system is added. If anyone has tried the mentioned stock cooler with the 1600x please let me know how it worked out so that I can plan things accordingly.
