  1. Am still planning on my future rig, decided to go with a high-end air cooler than an AiO. Since I can't seem to find be quiet!'s Dark Rock Pro 2 anywhere in stock currently (online stores that ships internationally), I decided on Phantek's PH-TC14PE that will either go into Fractal Design's Arc Midi R2 or Define R4. The CPU cooler height clearance in both the cases are 170mm and the cooler's maximum height is 171mm, and now comes my main question and the purpose of this thread, is that 1mm negligible or will it cause any issues?
  2. You can try using it and see if it works, if it doesn't, then you're gonna have to purchase new RAM.
  3. Ah, I see, thanks for the correction, edited my post.
  4. And so is the Platinum series.
  5. Pick the one you favor most in terms of aesthetics and price if benchmarks doesn't help your decision-making.
  6. Pretty much. If you want dual socket again in the future, you may want to look at Asus' Z9PE-D8 WS, but I guess when that time comes, Haswell-E is probably released. If you still want to upgrade to Haswell, I'd recommend (I'm guessing high-end is your style) Gigabyte's G1.Sniper 5, Asus' Maximus VI Extreme/Formula and if you love EVGA (and by love, I mean worship), you can try your luck with their Z87 Classified, with the i7-4770K.
  7. 780 Ti hands down. Of course, unless I need to spend the $250 on something far more important, then I'll pick the 780.
  8. All are pretty much the same. Get whichever looks best to your friend, I myself would get the Toxic. If your friend is able to stretch his budget a little bit more, say about $60, then get the 760. It is superior to the 270X.
  9. Since you are bothered by aesthetics, 780 Ti would be the way to go. It is expensive but on the flip side, you won't have to deal with micro-stuttering and games compatibility with SLI and a GB more of VRAM if your 2GB (I'm assuming 2) is starting to get pushed over.
  10. You might want to reword the whole thread, I only understand your first sentence and "2x R9 270X or." But, I would get the GTX 780 just because one strong single card is always better than two weaker ones. (If your other two options involve two graphics card). EDIT: Since option 2 is the 290 Windforce, then the 290 is sufficient for your needs but seeing as how the 290 is more expensive than the 780.
  11. In that case, you may want to consider the Antec GX700. I know it's ugly, or pretty to some, but it is likely able to fit the Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme. If you're able to squeeze out another $49.99, then go with the Arc Midi R2 or the Phantom 410, both capable of fitting the Thermaltake Water. 2.0 Extreme without any issues.
  12. How cheap? Personally, I would recommend Fractal Design's Arc Midi R2. I've used the original and it's great, lasted me quite a while before I sold my rig.
  13. From what I heard, the Vapor-X is pretty good. Better than DirectCU II? That I can't clarify as I've never owned either.
  14. The Maximus VI Hero has got you covered in all of them. I would go with the Hero, but the Pro isn't a bad choice neither is the MPower, but the MPower is geared more towards overclocking.
  15. OP said MSI TF and Hawk 270Xs are out of stock.
  16. If you want BF4 at a cheaper price, then yes, Gigabyte would be the route to take. Since performance and noise matters more to you (I assume more so than BF4), Asus would be the way to go.
  17. @shirokado Here ya go. NCIX USA has it. Link: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=80353
  18. Plus, it isn't 80PLUS Platinum which is one of the OP's criteria.EDIT: Here's another PSU recommendation (if it's available wherever you are), be quiet!'s Dark Power Pro 10 850W. Below 850W, it is 80PLUS Gold. The PSU got pretty good reviews, it's silent and semi-modular.
  19. Thank you for correcting me. I agree with you about the X79 platform completely.
  20. I didn't say the 4820K is bad, I just said that people will usually go with 4930K when going with socket 2011. It seems I've misworded my sentence by saying 4930K is the sweet spot
  21. If you care about color matching, then the DirectCU II would be the route to take. But since both the reference and the DirectCU II are priced similarly, get the DirectCU II as it is cooler, quieter and has a better overclocking potential overall.
  22. The 780 would be the way to go seeing as how the 290 is more expensive than the 780.
