I would vote for DirectCU II, but until it is released (as you are asking about the GTX 780 Ti), ACX will be my choice for now. The only reason why I'd pick the ACX is for aesthetics, looks better than DirectCU II IMO, assuming if the color scheme of the PC is not red with black.

Lol, i don't have that much money. I have a budget of $3000 which includes OS and peripherals (planning on 1440p gaming) and I don't like spending on something that's not useful for me. I see. Truly agree with you that it looks good, kinda figured it was only for aesthetic purposes. Wasn't planning to install the middle fan as it would obstruct the sound card from being installed so I guess he law mower won't be that loud at least. Thanks for your response. Seems like its both a gimmick and a function. I'll wait for more responses before deciding on the Hero, though I very much I would like the Formula since it too has the armor with a different name but sadly, it is out of my budget. Thanks for your response. EDIT: @Freaky_spider, Well, looks like I'm leaning towards the Hero now. Looks like the Thermal Armor is only useful for protection against dust and best from the graphics card.

Hi, does the thermal armor on the Asus' Z87 Sabertooth actually help temperatures or actually make it worse? I couldn't really find any regarding info regarding this topic so I'd figure maybe there might be some here. So is it gimmicky or functional? Currently planning my future rig, pretty much left with the motherboard, torn between Maximus VI Hero and the Z87 Sabertooth due to aesthetics hence my question about the thermal armor being gimmicky or not.
