Biography
Jaded & cynical fatalist with tendencies towards supervillainy. Would be megalomaniac & despot.
Oceans swam, Mountains climbed, Deserts traversed and mapped, Secret cities and ancient civilisations discovered, Mysteries solved, Lions fought and Bulls battered into submission. Maidens deflowered, Uprisings quelled, and Coup-d`etats orchestrated. When I sing, hearts burst, and so do ear drums. My physique is Adonis like. My pheremones cause knickers to drop at 100 yards. I have more money than Rockerfella and I have been known to swordfight with my huge willy. I can change nations futures at whim.. Inventor extraordinaire & good at inventing invisibility belts and pocket H-bombs. Currently plotting to take over the Planet and busy hatching various nefarious and dastardly schemes.

I guess my explanation was a little long winded.? What I`m saying practically, is to seal the dessicant packs into a closed space with the PC`s. Just a couple of bin-bags taped shut should suffice, with the packs inside with the PC`s. The packs are there to soak up any condensation that forms in cold weather etc. The packs shouldn`t be too expensive & are just insurance really. (& Not saying you need to change them every time you go in either, just that its what we used to have to do by regulation). ?

Moisture is your biggest issue, so basically, avoid doing it if possible, but if you really have to, then pack the devices into a box that can be sealed tight against water ingress with adequate silica gel dessicant packs, (not the tiny ones, We`re talking at least the 1lb packs, look on amazon). These are used in many street cabinet installations of electronic equipment, & strictly speaking, have to be changed every time the cabinets are opened. (I used to carry stacks of them around as a comms engineer back in the day.. though the ones I remember weren`t silica, but something that looked very like kitty litter ?).

Any advice on a UK supplier?, amazon are quoting around £250 GBP.. Edit:- and will the motherboard definitely support that CPU? -
PC Specs:- Intel Core i5-4440 @3.10GHz 16GB DDR3 Motherboard:- Memphis-S (Pegatron) Memory sockets: 2 x DDR3 1 PCI Express x16 (Gen 3.0) 3 PCI Express x1 (Gen 2.0) 1 PCI Express half-length mini card x1 The PC was originally a 500-250ea OEM Unit, but was transferred to a newer case. Stock Hard disk was swapped for a Samsung SSD 120GB (sata) about 2 yrs ago, PSU was upgraded to 800Watts and a lot of extra Hard disk storage added. Currently sporting 8 Drives totalling around 25 TB Various GPU`s in its history, (GTX 630, GTX 650, GTX 960, (now sporting a Gigabyte GTX 1080 8GB) Monitors, 3 times generic 1920 * 1080 60Hz screens, also an Oculus Rift. (very much a pick-and-mix PC built with what I had at the time and leaning towards economy). What to do? Is it worth upgrading the CPU in this, or should I be looking at putting this venerable old workhorse out to pasture and building a new system from scratch? I use it for gaming, VR and midi music production & mixing, (ableton live, Plug-ins, Serato DJ Pro... etc) & media playback. At present it does most I ask of it but I would like to swap/add a 4K monitor for better media playback and better gaming resolution. How would it cope with this either in its present configuration or if I did upgrade the CPU? Will I get another year or so of use from it, or should I just go all in, save, and build a new PC? Just for context, I DO have a couple more PC`s, including a brand spanking new Strix GL703gs gaming laptop But the desktops are both of about the same age and specs and used primarily for music production.

I still have an old 8086 PC stashed in my attic too, it was working... (I`ll check when I get a free moment and post pics if it still does). I`ll probably need to sweep the dust of it first though Edit:- Apparently not...someone in my household decided to throw it out....? They left the monitor, some old cases and bits of detritus for me...so for the record, here they are:- (a bit of a come down from a working 8086 but hey-ho, whatever...) The Black Hole of Calcutta:-
