  1. General spec looks good to me! And as for this: My advice is to not underbuy your PSU! I highly recommend you throw things into PCPartPicker.com as it'll give you an estimate of how many watts it could potentially pull from the wall. Once you have that, find a PSU that's at least double that estimate — and I repeat, do not underbuy it!!!
  2. That form's a little outdated, but still works. According to every Apple employee I personally know, or have interacted with on social media, the most effective way is through Feedback Assistant: https://feedbackassistant.apple.com/
  3. I know @Electronics Wizardy recommended OpenCore Legacy Patcher [OCLP], and I absolutely agree, but I wanted to add my own two cents, having run Linux on a MacBook. It's... fine? Depending on the distribution, there can be either many issues or so few issues that you'd probably be fine. I think Linus Torvalds used to use Fedora (his distribution of choice) on an (now ancient) MacBook Air at some point, but I have no idea what his experience with that was like. Your mileage may vary, of course. Then of course, there's the fact that some things just won't work properly, or at all (like Apple ecosystem integration). WINE isn't a solution for everything, unfortunately. As for my recommendation: well, I say this having used Ubuntu 20.04 on a 2011 MacBook Pro during the pandemic for school... I'd recommend OCLP until Intel gets axed by Apple entirely, especially if you're already accustomed to the macOS environment. Maybe even throw a cheap SSD or similar in (if your computer doesn't have one already). That'll buy you at least another year or two at least. I can at least vouch for the effectiveness of OCLP, having used it on plenty of machines in the past. Hope this helps!
  4. Yeah, exactly. I'm almost certain that, at the time, the TikTok where Madison made this joke was approved by Linus or someone else in management. It's content, not reality. I've said it once and I'll say it again: the truth is — we don't know what happened and speculating on what did is dangerous. That's the point of the investigation, to find out what happened, and figure out next steps. (And from what I can tell, Terren seems to know what he's doing, so to everyone here: let's let him do the job he was hired to do.) And content produced and published externally by a company does not necessarily represent the company's environment internally. I'm personally not forming any opinions, etc. on the allegations until the investigation has concluded. In my opinion, neither should anyone else.
  5. This right here! Honestly, some of the comments here have made me incredibly uncomfortable. The truth is: we don't know what happened, only the parties involved do. Speculating on all of this, accusing people of lying, etc., is dangerous, unhelpful, and unnecessary.
  6. He didn't have to pick up a phone and contact Linus for their side of the story, their story was already very public on WAN and other videos.
  7. Was thinking of moving back to Linux myself, and this was one of the Distros I was looking at. Windows 10/11 have been really buggy for me, especially these last few weeks, and an annoying issue that started was drivers just simply getting overwritten with older versions by Windows Update.
  8. Judging by screenshots Linus has shared, I believe they use Google Workspace.
  9. I'm pretty sure they auto-renew all of their domains. They own several more than just the ones we generally see haha.
  10. I don't really feel comfortable speculating on whether or not it's "worse than expected" because truth is, we don't know and won't know until this is all over. We've been down this road before a few years ago. I can't link to the video where Linus digs into it, but I believe it took a couple days or so to recover fully from the security incident. I'm willing to bet this will be the same here. The account likely won't return to the site until everything is all clear and has been investigated fully. That's where I think the conversations should be left until we hear otherwise, personally.
  11. Left this on the video itself and sent it out on Twitter, but wanted to share it here as well for awareness:
  12. As someone who previously had an i5-1035G1, you're better off following what @J-from-Nucleon suggests here: I know, I know, probably dumb. But you're going to have a better time if you're really wanting to run macOS. Or you could go the nuclear option and run Windows 10 and a debloater script or something. Dunno though.
  13. Same. I run Pop!_OS on my old tower now and have had nothing but great things to say about it coming from Windows 7 on it, and 10 on my laptop. I learned to use a computer on Ubuntu, which Pop is based on. (I also have a Mac mini, which I also use, so I am already pretty well-versed in Unix-like OS environments.) Like @dennito said, boot into the live environments and give some Linux distributions a shot to see which one(s) click!
  14. Modified for clarity. I tend to get a "new" one every couple of years, or if I can't, I usually reinstall Windows or replace the hard drive. I have a laptop and desktop, and whenever I replace my laptop, I hand it off to my grandparents so they can live in somewhat of the present. My old desktop has historically been turned into a server or is stored in my basement for the rest of eternity.
