  1. Linus is fixing xQc's PC as we speak and it's being streamed live on twitch, thought I'd let y'all know
  2. That was a question I had, I'm not sure asking of any member of my family to configure a Linux drive is the smartest idea (they aren't tech savvy). Is it possible to make a backup using a Media Creation tool installed on an external drive or something along those lines? The drive is a 500GB M.2 SSD btw, it's a year old tops, really shouldn't be failing.
  3. Hello LTT forums, I come to you in a time of great need My brother tried to install Valorant on the C drive (an SSD) and filled it up, so he uninstalled it and installed it again on the secondary drive (an HDD), but something went wrong, he restarted and got a BSOD. Windows startup repair does nothing, can't roll back to a previous update, doesn't have any backups, safe mode doesn't load, etc etc. So we ran chkdsk and it told us there was an error in the upper case file. Here's where I get lost. I've spent the last 2 hours scouring every mention of the Upper Case file error on the internet but there are conflicting reports about the causes and the fixes. We first ran chkdsk alone and we got the upper case file error, but because we ran it without parameters I think it ran on the X drive as opposed to the C drive, and when we ran "chkdsk C:" it told us there were no errors at all aside from "CHKDSK Failed to Transfer Logged Messages to the Event Log with Status 6", which one guy somewhere said that isn't a concern because it just means it couldn't write the report of the scan to the C drive. We decided against running chkdsk with the /f parameter to not lose any files (even though some forums said this fixed it), but even if we DID decide to, some say we may not have been able to because the drive could be blocked (this is speculation at this point). Some responses said it could be an indication of the drive starting to fail, but it's an SSD. Would the symptoms be the same? I can't provide any files at the moment because I'm 2000km away from said brother and computer, so for now the plan is to just boot from a Media Creation tool USB, make a backup and tell the windows repair screen to format the system keeping the files instead of trying to mess with it anymore. What can we do? OS is Windows 10 btw
  4. I forgot to add it happenee while it was on, it remained on for ~2 min and then i shut it off but in that time everything seemed to work perfectly. I also can't disassemble it because I am on a trip.
  5. Hey yall, I screwed up. You might have seen my previous post were I explain how I think after dropping a coke can on the table, some liquid might have seeped in between the keys and down onto the motherboard. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 3 A315-51. I removed one or two keys (breaking one in the process because spilling coke wasn't enough) and I saw there was a metal plate between the keys ans the internal components. I only spilled a really small amount though, we're talking no more than 10 drops. This happened 9 hours ago and it has been powered off, sitting drying ever since. Would it be a good idea to drop some 99% alcohol around the area of the spillage (the extreme left side of the keyboard. mostly between the bezel and the tab and caps lock keys) and hope it gets to where the coke is sitting to clean it out before it corrodes traces beyond repair. Alcohol doesn't damage electronics, right? Does it matter if they have to dry out in an enclosed space? Would this be a good idea? Is this too late? Help! Thanks.
  6. Hey yall, I screwed up. I spilled a really small amount of coke on the left side of the keyboard of my Acer Aspire 3 A315-51 laptop. The coke hit the side of the laptop, some small amount spilled on the extreme left of the keyboard (mostly on the bezel and the keys) and the can fell on the table which is where most of the liquid ended up. It remained on for about a minute and then I turned it off. I took off two of the keys and it didn't look like liquid had been there at all. I'm scared I spilled enough to corrode traces on the mobo but not enough to dry it out without fully disassembling it which I can't comfortably do because I'm not at home (and I don't have tools) plus its 12:26 and every tech store is closed. How worried should I be? I think the warranty covers this stuff (it's a 2 year warranty and i bought it in Aug 2019). I know I'm just another poor fool wit butter fingers, but I need help. What do I do? Do I risk not doing anything and letting it dry (possibly screwing it up?) or risk disassembling it with a pointy knife? I tried looking it up but every guide covers a large spill, I don't think this spill reached 10 drops of coke. I know liquid is slick and will slip through anything but still. Help!
  7. So my friend came to me all excited a few weeks ago telling me about a website called Drakemall.com which apparently lets you buy crates of stuff with phones, computers and other relatively expensice gizmos. You put in a paypal, go to Kinguin to buy a gift card, input the code into drakemall, buy the crates and hope for the best. It seems a little too good to be true. There's also a video from a spanish youtuber claiming the person behind drakemall also worked in a CS:GO skins scam so it's a little concerning. Right now I'm thinking about giving it a try but for now I have my reservations. The online reviews seem mixed up, some say its a scam and some say it worked and that they recieved their PS4 in 5 weeks or whatever. Anything helps. Thanks!
  8. I know it comes embedded in the mobo, but the stereo mix section does not appear for us under recording configuration.
  9. We checked and it didn't appear. We researched and turns out you need a sound card for that. Thanks for helping though!
  10. Somewhere around 70-100 euros. Pretty bad specs and no tech-savvy person would pay over 120 for that.
  11. For the last weeks, for some reason, my friend's system audio (YT videos and videogame sounds) have been reproducing through discord and in some occasions I can hear the system audio louder than his voice. It's really annoying. It's not discord because we tried through skype and the same thing happens, its not the audio being played through speakers and enetering his mic since he uses headphones and we tried unplugging the mic and it still happened and I wonder if its some kind of setting. It might have started when he installed a voice modifyer and that changed permissions or something like that. Anything helps. Thanks!
  12. A hexagon? Why are you asking 3rd grade math questions?
