Not only do upload speeds suck in Germany, most private internet connections have been switched to DS lite (dual stack lite), which means a lot of services - especially DynDNS - stop working.
For the price of a business contract with a fixed IP address (or the price of a fixed IP address for your private contract), you can easily afford a dedicated server.

Treiskaideka reacted to AlexTheGreatish in Let Riley Review GPUs - a Petition
    August 31st, 2018 - when Riley "@RILEYISMYNAME" Murdock's lifelong dream died.

As a child Riley Murdock would watched at first sprites, and then polygons forming on the screen before him in amazement, thinking that one day he might be able to test the bleeding edge of graphical technology.  Over the years Murdock has slowly positioned himself at the forefront of technology news, using his good looks and charming awkwardness to not just enchant audiences, but also to penetrate the inner circle of Linus Media Group, potentially giving him some of the hands-on experience with the latest and greatest in graphical technology, although sadly it was not meant to be.

The stage was finally set, Murdock was in the right place, and with Nvidia launching the first GPUs capable of Real Time Ray Tracing (RTX), the time was right too.  For those not familiar with RTX, it is considered the greatest graphical leap in recent history, with Tom's Hardware's esteemed Editor in Chief saying "If these cards deliver even half of what they promise, you won't want to settle for last-gen technology" and "Just Buy It". As you can imagine Murdock was bursting with glee, going as far to say "What's the point of living without Ray Tracing", and in front of a massive live audience, Murdock finally mustered up the courage to ask permission to review this unprecedented new technology, finally realizing his life's purpose.

Moments later though, tragedy struck. Murdock's request was carelessly shot down by Linus Sebastian, @LinusTech (claimed CEO of Linus Media Group, but we all know he's simultaneously paid by Intel, AMD and Nvidia). Imagine a balloon popping in deep space - complete silence - as everything this poor balloon has ever known gets cast out into the void, eternally scattering into the universe, forever forgotten - the look on Murdock's face was like that, times ten.
But it doesn't need to be this way, we can make a change.  Sign this petition, let Linus know that we won't stand for his callous disregard for others feelings, and that we believe that Riley Murdock will do an incredible job reviewing graphics cards.  It's not too late people, if we band together we can defeat the evil Linus, and once again give Murdock a reason to be alive.

Since the incident, Murdock has said "When I'm 99 years old and lying on my deathbed, I'll think back and say, 'Oh my gosh, I didn't have Ray Tracing for 6 months'", but with your help, he can instead lie on his deathbed in peace, please sign the petition.

I've not at all had any impression that Linus was rude on purpose to Riley watching this WAN show, people don't seem to get that how you're joking depends as much on the person you're joking with and your dynamic with them as it does on yourself.

Riley (as far as i can tell from TechLinked) tends to make deadpan jokes with a dry delivery, so it only makes sense for me that Linus would not smirk or smile as much with his jokes, especially coming from a serious topic. And Riley being "hurt" by that? I mean, he obviously just didn't know a good comeback to continue the banter?

Seems like a big chunk of the audience just doesn't know someone is joking if there's no Luke opposite, who's directly cracking up and holding his left boob while laughing too loud.

I wouldn't mind this host combination again, I very much enjoyed the dry banter and once they get a bit more practice, I'm sure the jokes will also hit the audience better. (although I do miss regular Luke )

Also, I hope they have a ton of fun during the vacation. Maybe we'll get a nice vlog or even a channel super fun out of it?

Can't believe all the cuffuffle over this week's WAN show.  Seriously ever since Luke went to Floatplane. The WAN show has taken on a new style/dynamic.  Often enough when Linus is a host he will be joined by James.  Even Dennis had a go and now Ridley.

Go back and watch the banter Linus and James had on there first outing.  Linus treated him the same, with general on screen banter and putdowns.  I remember Linus looking peeved or even annoyed that James was wearing those rediculas Laser Glasses, hence a legend was born.  Fast forward a few WAN shows you can see James is much more comfortable hosting with Linus.  Giving as good as he gets.

In my opinion The Goat comment shocked Riley far more, than the Anthony statement.

Can't wait to see who hosts the next show after their workation.

Hope the negative comments are NOT the final straw.  Linus could easily decide the WAN show has run its course. He could just hand the hosting reins to someone else....

    Peace out.

Riley is employed with LMG part time as an on screen presenter/host for the TechLinked channel, as well as writer for that channels content.
Anthony is employed as a writer for LMG who is charged with the task of performing benchmarks on new hardware and co-writing the content for the videos based on those hardware reviews and benchmarks he performs.

If an employee asks their boss "Do you want me to perform work that is outside the scope of my job description and qualifications?" and the boss responds with "No, that's not necessary. We have another employee who is more qualified and employed specifically for that purpose", and you get offended by the bosses answer - You're a snowflake.

People are far too easily offended on behalf of other people by complete non-issues these days. Step away from the twitter and the reddit where everyone is always finding something to be offended by and your life will be a lot more enjoyable and positive.

Though, I did find it funny how at the start Riley asked if they had a powerful enough 'Engine' to run the dual stream, and Linus [playfully] grilled him about it using computer processing power and not "engine power"... Only a minute later to begin explaining that the dual stream set up relies on NginX (pronounced 'Engine-X').

I did miss a lot of the WAN show so I may have missed some of the biggest parts (I'll need to see when I watch all of it later) but yeah joking around is always been part of LTT. I really didn't expect that they're needed to be a big press release over this. I thought everybody knew that you guys like messing around and it seemed pretty obvious that it was more or less a joke question and that he didn't really care about it too much. Hope this doesn't cause you guys too much trouble :-)

This is so dumb. At the beginning of the wan show, linus even was so enthusiastic about what Riley does on the side, and asked him how he was doing and basically gave him free promotion. It seemed like it was unplanned too, but people seem to just dismiss that and go straight for the 'harsh' parts without looking at context.

I'd almost be more offended as him that people couldn't tell it was a joke and actually thought that Riley might enjoy the intimate company of goats.

Will people defend anything these days?

Cyber security jobs always fascinate me since I often see the most clean cut, straight arrow types at those positions yet the best security experts are mostly unwashed neckbeards.

There's a really big disconnect between corporations wanting to keep things secure and corporations not wanting to hire people that go way, way outside of their comfort zone profiles.

    Here's what I liked:

    - Interactive venues: loved the case toss, bungee race, pugilist sticks. Things to do between announcements and t-shirt tosses. One of the things I love about an event like, say, PAX, is that there's tons of stuff to DO, not just look at. Keep me busy.
    - The meet-and-greet: loved that you guys were down on the floor with us plebs, shaking hands and kissing babies.
    - Vendor booths: MOAR. Would love to see more vendors with more stuff, more giveaways, more games.
    - VR!
    - Video  games!
    - Life-sized standees: those things were hilarious.
    - The auction: pretty funny stuff!
    - The space: good size for the amount of attendees; busy on the floor but not cramped, space in the rafters if the introverts need to decompress.

Here's what I think could be improved on:

    - Security: you guys had, easily, $10k of swag loosely guarded by a dude or two. If it's the same setup this year, you guys are gonna have a bad time. Keeping the swag out on display is great, but a velvet rope and a mean-lookin' dude isn't enough. I would suggest making it less easily accessible.
    - Other security: the door prizes were AMAZING. Of course, I got none of them, such is my lot in life. However, if I were a less honest and upright citizen, I might have considered convincing Nick (by possibly nefarious means) to call out the numbers that myself and my friends had in our possession. Oh look, we just walked away with several thou in gear! How pleasing. I'd suggest attaching identifiers to each sold ticket and drawing from that data, rather than the easily-gamed stubs.
    - More VR!
    - More video games! BYO rig LAN party? The logistics are insane but when has that ever stopped you guys?
    - Options to purchase merch: there were none. That was, in my opinion, a massive opportunity wasted. I had money burning a hole in my pocket. It could have been yours.
    - The auction: nothing there I actually wanted. Again, I felt that that was a missed opportunity. I understand you're not about to auction off embargoed chips or vendor samples, but there must be a few choice pieces of Scrapyard Wars memorabilia kicking around.
    - The venue itself: while in some ways the arena was perfect (size, food vendors already present, less-expensive location) I definitely feel there are other options - ones with better sound and less janky equipment. I would BLOODY LOVE IT if the Vancouver downtown convention centre could be used. Parking sucks and it's expensive, but it's the big leagues. Maybe if LTX grows a bit? That shit's world-class.
    - My kid's prolly old enough to bring this year without being bored or easily exhausted. Maybe stuff that would appeal to the pre-teens? It's a bit of an ask but I wasn't the only parent there. Just a thought.

I agree to many things Linus requested in the video. But:
VESA: I don't know what TVs you are used to, but the TVs I use do have VESA mounts.
BT-Remote: As already mentioned, Bluetooth may use more battery power as a simple dumb IR-remote.
Why so many coaxial Inputs and no SCART connector?
How do you receive the TV Signal? One may also need one RF connector for DVB-S2,T2,C each.
Also nice to have: real power switch for 0W power compsumtion. Even modern standby PSU use several dozens of Milliwatt.
But most importantly: Disable overscan on all inputs. Why the hell is this even still a thing in the digital era? Nothing is more stupid than connecting a TV to a computer, setting correct resolution but still having a terrible picture, because the dumb TV scales the picture by few percent cropping the picture.
Maybe one could also wish Thunderbolt as universal AIO interface for connecting AV-receivers.
