Found them on <AliExpress> if you are a super noob you might want to practice a couple of times before soldering onto your card as sop8 isn't exactly the best thing to learn to solder on

I just got it working! Turns out it REQUIRES you to have a Google Account associated with a gmail email address. However, now the touchscreen wont work. It displays the desktop but it doesn't respond to touch. So, typical Linux.l Fix one problem, find another one you never knew you had. Well, at least I learned that the seemingly un-related things may have the biggest impact. Thanks for the help. And by the way, you were right about the password, no spaces in between the 4 characters. Thanks again.

3 days in and the quads still alive charging batteries has been a pain so I haven't flown as much as I would like but have managed to fly every day so far and flew the most beautiful beach today without ditching into the sea or filling my motors with sand.

I'm going on a road trip! Me and the Mrs are taking a campervan out into the country for a week and while it's not going to be an fpv trip I am taking my gear and it's my full intention to fly every day.
So the question is how many days before I break something I can't repair on the road?

That's a push fit connector, you need to push the dark grey part in and then just pull the pipe out while holding it down

I'd say you are getting your money's worth of components but if this is your first step into arduino it may be of better value for you to get a cheaper more basic kit to start playing around with the basics, learning the skills you need to successfully complete bigger projects in the future and then just ordering those parts required for what you want to create.

So far as arduino "clones" go, there isn't really any such thing. The arduino project is open source hardware and software so while the very cheap boards can have issues and are best left alone buying from China shouldn't cause problems as they are built to the same hardware specs as the official "Genuino" boards. Buying from the arduino foundation simply helps to fund the work they do with education e.c.t

The kit will be great if you just want to play around with lots of components to see what they do.
And I think there are a few arduino powered HID projects out there so you should be all good

I do my day to day soldering at 330c (not just quads but other projects too) and never have any problem, I haven't ever had mine past 350c even for very large joints, I think something must be wrong for you to be having problems at 400c

uhhh... Traxxas is an rc car company. They make some toy drones because that's where the market is going.

If you want footage, definitely get a DJI as those are the best in the business as far as out of the box solutions. The mavic and the phantom 3 standard are like the only two I'd really recommend. The mavic is more compact and takes better video, but the phantom 3 standard is half the price. I do recommend you get a toy drone like a Hubsan X4 to learn the controls so you don't crash your fancy toy on the first try.

Also we have a multirotor hangout thread in the hobby electronics sub forum, we talk about all things multirotor, but mostly FPV stuff. Feel free to ask questions there.

You can do that, putting RFID or NFC chips under your skin is quite a popular thing, another common one would be putting a magnet in one of your fingers so that you can 'feel' magnetic fields

My pdb has a basic osd in it so will be using that to monitor Battery voltage but I think upgrading to an FC with betaflight OSD is looking like a must

You can buy a special receiver that connects to a computer or you can hack together a cable like This (you can also do some surgery on your normal cable and turn it into a Y shape with the Svideo usb and 3.5mm Jack) then you just need Smartpropoplus to interpret the signal

I think you are right about being spolied by local retailers in the US, here in NZ there are about 5 or 6 FPV stores of which I would say only 2 or 3 have a decent range of stock.
And even of the good ones unless you are looking to buy stuff in the top end like unified Pro's and hype trains your choice is basically none existent.
There was a big scandal recently when one of the larger stores was selling cloned PDB/OSD combos that wouldn't take firmware updates or even connect to the control tool to change the osd setting and the store just told people they must be trying to connect wrong and refused to give refunds although on the whole I hear that customer service is good from most of them.

I have placed this order but I'll definitely think of you guys first before placing my next BG order!

This is essentially what I would recommend. I picked up a dirt cheap tower second had from a company that deals with "end of lease" office equipment and with a few mods to it have a home server. Another option could be a Windows based single board like the latte panda, you would have some of the same issues as a pi (e.g. slow network speeds) but if you are syncing Dropbox and using usb storage you would largely be bottlenecked by you internet speed or the read/write to the drive anyway

Having tried to do kind of what you are saying but in reverse, I run a network share on a raspberry pi and wanted to have a folder on that share sink out to Dropbox for backup, I can tell you that Dropbox does not play nicely with raspberry pi, I had an absolute nightmare trying to get it all set up and it only worked for a short time before throwing an absolute loon and makeing a total mess of both the Dropbox account and my network share.
I'm not saying it's impossible and actually I'm sure that with some research and a bit of effort you could find a way to make it work better than I did.
However if your friend is not technically minded and bearing in mind it's work material he is dealing with you might be best to find another solution.

Very nice. Is that VTX an mi200? Be careful, the 200mw mode is actually more like 1000mw thanks to some shit qc. It's not a problem if your'e flying on your own, but with other people you will very easily blast other people out of the sky.

It is yes, that explains why the guy selling it said it gave the best signal of what he had ? won't be a problem for now but thanks for the heads up, it's good to know I will need to be careful when I do start fling with others
