Hello all, I recently bought brand new Mac for the first time new and it set me back like $2800. I am using as I finish up the last year and a half of college so it will defiantly be moved around a lot and I am trying to decide whether the apple care plus for $150 is worth it. On one hand I already spend a lot on the laptop so I want it to last if something happens, but on the other hand, I have never broken any of the other laptops I have used both in high school or college, asus gaming laptop and Lenovo thinkpad p1. Do y’all have any experience with apple care plus good or bad, and are there other inusurances that work do same thing for cheaper? I am really just looking for recommendations on what I should do. I have one day left to purchase the apple care plus but just can’t decide. thanks!

Do I want this disable just for benchmarking / stress testing or do i want this disabled on the time for gaming/coding/video editing

I was just running in CPUZ, not sure what SMT is. My knowledge of computers is much more in coding side of things.

Thanks! I just updated that and its getting close to 4.3 now but still cant hit the max on single threaded benchmark. Am i just misunderstanding something or is that right? *EDIT: I am using task manager to get speed.

Hello, I recently upgraded my Ryzen 7 1700x to a Ryzen 9 3900x but have been seeing problems with my boost clock. I am using an Asus Prime x370 Pro mobo on latest bios and the max frequency my cpu will hit is about 4.2Ghz even though it says it will reach 4.6Ghz. I have read that the motherboards VRM may have something too do with it however I am not sure. Basically, is there a bios setting I can change or do I need to upgrade to a new mobo to see full boosts. btw, I am using the included cooler that came with it. Thanks!

Hello, I am looking to get my first real DSLR, have a a200 I got for free, to really learn photography on. I am stuck currently between Nikon's D3500 and D5600 both of which would come with the standard two kit lenses. I am hesitant to spring for the D5600 as if I don't end up getting into it but I do not know if the D3500 is sufficient. One thing I will need to use it for is to shoot indoor volleyball. I have heard this is a challenge to shoot and will require a prime lens but I do not know if I should also get the D5600 for its additional autofocus points. Honestly I have done a lot of research but have ended up confused as the 5600 is the top of my price range and Its still a lot of money at $699 for something I may not even use. Sorry if this rambled on but hopefully I can get some good recommendations I am willing to go used if it means getting a better camera but I do now know where to go from here.

I have a 1TB WD Black that I previously shrunk the main partition to give me 200 GB to use for Linux but I needed that space back so I went into windows disk management and deleted it giving me 200GB of unallocated space. Now whenever I tried to add it back to the main partition it will not go back and I somehow changed the main partition to a simple volume whatever that means and I can't even create a new partition out of the unallocated space as whenever I tell it to create a new one it says not enough space. Any help is much appreciated. I have a new 1TB WD black for addition storage so I can possible clone the stuff I need to keep to that before wiping old disk to see if that works but WD's Acronis True Image is broken somehow and says it can't read sectors when I try to tell it I want to clone. Neither are boot drive. Thanks again.

I am new to audio but I have been slowly been introduced to high end audio. I finally want to jump in and get my first good set of headphones. Want best sound quality under $300 I can get (willing to stretch a little on budget). Based on my research I will probably need closed back due to them being used in a dorm so would like to tune that out. Other than that I am not sure. I have some BeatSoloWireless 2, yes I know they are overpriced, but looking for best I can get sound quality wise and anything better than those will be appreciated. Thanks

Finally figured it out. Had to fiddle around then found an option for booting in simple graphics mode then installed from there.

I am trying to install Fedora Linux, more specifically the KDE Plasma desktop, on my laptop, a GL752VW-DH71, to dual boot with windows, however after creating the live usb with fedora media writer and booting to the USB, it was just repeating stuff including most commonly [ 3768.290057] NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#3 stuck for 22s! [Xorg:1332] and stuff to that extent. I tried booting from the option that had UEFI in front of it and the option that just had the usb with nothing in front of it and it would eventually come to an error very similar to this or spit out PCIE errors. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Hey. I am still working on my first build and was wondering how much more it would cost me to go RGB. I would like it to sync together and preferably be Asus. I do not need rgb ram but I would like predominantly rgb. Also yes I know the 1050 is underpowered, it is just something I will use till the 1170 comes out when I will get that.

Also, how much more would it cost me to go rgb?

Thanks, I’m getting an 1050 until the 11 series GTX cards come out then I will get a high end one, either 1170 or 1180. Also why do you say go ryzen? They are better in terms of multi core but lower clock speed? Like I plan on running a virtual machine whenever needed but giving it one core or even two should be good with hyper threading right?

I specked out this PC that is on my budget of just above $1000 USD and was wondering what yalls thoughts were on it. I had been considering an old xeon build but after looking at all the options I am leaning more towards an i7 build that will host a Virtual machine for the living rooms home theater pc via steam link when needed. As a note, windows will be purchased elsewhere so it is not on this build and the 1050 will be replaced whenever the new 1170 comes out as GPU prices right now are insane.
