So it's a solid i3 competitor, maybe even i5 when overclocked.  I need one!

I thought I would put together an ongoing list of tips for people who are new to the forum. These are things that you can do for us to help you better solve your issues and to get better advice.

    1. Give a budget: When you are asking about a PC build or want to buy an item please give your budget. One of the most common mistakes that I see people make is, they ask for a PC that will play certain games at certain settings, or they give a build list with no price. So if you ask for a build that will play certain games at certain settings, we can give you the build to do so, but we have no way to know if you can actually afford it. Giving us a budget allows us to see how much you can spend and if you are effectively using your money in your build. The same applies to when you are looking for a certain items. If you ask, "What's a good gaming monitor for me?" We can't tell you unless we know how much you can spend. Giving a budget is a must when it comes to asking about a PC build, or single item.

    2. Don't Use The Word "Best" Without A Price Range: This question is similar to #1. I often see people ask a question like, "What's the best headphones?" and then they go on to ask "What's the best headphones that I should get?" Well by the way you asked that question the answer is probably the Sennheiser Orpheus for $50,000. You need to once again give a budget when asking "What's the best..." questions. Then when you ask, "What's the best headphones under $150?" Then it is easy for us to give you suggestions.

    3. Don't Immediately Take The First Piece Of Advice Given: This is a common mistake I see among new forum members. While most people around here know what they are talking about, the first piece of advice given is not always the best or always correct. Wait for several responses from several different members so you can here other opinions or options. That way you can be sure you are getting the best advice or the best options for what you should do.

    4. Please Be Open To Advice: I often see people on the forum ask for advice on something, and when advice that is different from their original intent, they become hostile and will refuse to take it. Now obviously we are not the be all end all when it comes to being correct and giving advice, but if virtually everyone is giving you tips that are all basically the same, you probably should take that into consideration. For example, if you wanted to build a gaming PC with CPU X, and everyone tells you that CPU X is now outdated and a little slow and that CPU Y is a much better choice, don't become hostile and say that we don't know what we are talking about and continue on your way. What's the point of asking for advice if you will not accept any differently? Doing stuff like this also makes people become a little irritated and makes them feel as if you just wasted their time.

    5. Please Post Your Topic In The Correct Section: I see many people put their topics in the General Discussion section when there are clearly better places to post it. For example, if your topic's name is "What GPU Should I Buy?", don't put that in general discussion. Please put that in the section labeled "Graphics Cards" that is a better place for it. Putting your topics in the right section saves our lovely moderators and admins a lot of work of having to move them to the appropriate section.

    6. Use the Quote Button When Responding To Someone:  I often see that new members do not know how to quote someone who responds to their post. They often just write a response without quoting the person, or simply just @ them. If you do not quote the person you are responding to, they will never know that you are responding to them to maybe ask a follow up question. You must use the quote button to be sure they know you are responding to them. This will also save you the time of having to type in their @

Here's what the quote button looks like. Hit this and then type your response under the quote.

    7. Please Read The Community Standards If You Plan To Be Here Long Term: This is one of the more obvious ones, but if you plan to be active on the forum a lot, it will probably pay off to know all of the rules to make sure that you do not get in trouble and risk being banned.

    8. Please Include Your Currency: If you don't include your currency, chances are you are going to get suggestions in USD $. If you are from outside the U.S. I would recommend giving your currency type or location so you can be sure you get suggestions in your native currency. (Thanks to @myspeakersaremuffled for the suggestion)

The 750Ti is an old card. i would say go with the 1050. Or you could spend $20 more than the price of the 750TI and get a 1050Ti.

    Greetings people!

This will be a somewhat "quick and dirty" build that I was hired to build for a fellow Dane. I have not been able to share any pictures until now, so lets get some work in progress, and other stuff running!

First a little teaser of what will come of this thread!

I am going trough my pictures and video as I type this, so updates will come as I get them edited. Since there is a great discussion about wolves in Denmark right now (They recently where spottet in the wild, and has been breeding) I thought it fitting to name the project accordingly, also since the color scheme is very alike.

    Specs:
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Glass Motherboard: Gigabyte AORUS K5 Graphic card: Gigabyte 1080 TI CPU: Intel 7700K RAM: 32 gb Klevv Cras PSU: Corsair HX850I SSD: Samsung 960 EVO 512 gb
    Watercooling:
Waterblocks: EK Radiators: EK Fittings: Bitspower Fluid: Mayhems Pastel dark grey
A big thank you goes out to EK, Bitspower and Mayhems for sending some parts for this build!

Lets get started! First update here will be a few pictures of the hardware used.

Choice of card for this build was the gtx 1080 ti.

Great performance, and looks, but an absolute pain to take apart.

Motherboard is the Gigabyte AORUS K5. No need for a super high-end board as the build will most likely never be overclocked. I do like the built in lighting, but the motherboard REALLY lacks a temperature in port.

Not too flashy, just good looking.

I originally planned to just use a stand alone CPU block, but saw that EK had this great looking full cover block that fittet the board. I was quite nervous for how the light was going to work out, as many LED's put into stuff like that is super bright and not at all diffused. This one was luckily super good looking when turned on!

Really digg the looks of this block!

The GPU got a full cover EK acrylic block and a silver backplate. I recently started using the silver backplates instead of the black backplates, with no regrets. They can really spice up a build!

I really like that they have removed the DVI connector from this card. Single slot just looks so much better.

    Matches the board quite well.

And also teams up quite nicely with the motherboard mono block.

The two colors I decided on trying out. In the end, the left darker grey won. The fluid is the new grey pastel from Mayhems.

Planning the layout of the build.

And a little special something I decided to make!

More will come soon! Thank you for reading:)

The computer sees the resolution, it has no way of knowing the actual size of the screen. So to the GPU, the 1080p screen is smaller.

You really can't build anything for $200 unless you go heavily into the used market at which point I'd look for buying something local that's already built where you might get a better deal. If you can save up another $200-$300 or are willing to ask for parts for your birthday and buy the other stuff then we can make suggestions.

The 435 lacks in performance and specs to the 820, so it's actually cheaper. Can pick up phones that use the 435 for £60(about $75) try and find one using an 820 for that price.

Liiioo reacted to BluntestTech in (Story) I finally figured out the truth behind crypto mining
(not sure if this belongs here but decided to post because i found my realization interesting)
So today i came home and decided start test mining again to see how high hashrate i can get. I spent some time tweaking the mining program and GPU clocks etc.. then i went to make some coffee and noticed i had spent 3 hours tweaking and over/underclocking my GPU to get higher hashrate. Then i started to think about it and realized that i have not life and that this is a game. Mining is a f**king game. You tweak, adjust and read guides how to get higher number and you compete with other people for who has the highest numbers, its a f**king clicker, its a bad clicker game  Then i realized that theres even a high scoreboard on pretty much every pool site and pools are like servers for the game, then i remembered, old arcade games. Mining is an arcade clicker game. Its a f**king arcade clicker with rewards, people with high scores get big rewards and more casual players (miners) get small consolation prize for participation.

So is mining a arcade clicker or another game or is it just mining ? or is it just me that find this interesting and i am just a crazy person ?

Mine was powered by a cat.

She used  to sleep on top of the screen and sometimes look at what I was doing. When I got a LCD she never noticed and tried jumping up on top of it only to crash into the wall behind it and fall to the floor. I picked her up and showed her it was different, she still jumped up a second time and tried balancing on the LCD.

After that she started sleeping on the case.

As to what my specs were back in 2001ish? No idea. I think I got the LCD a year before I went army so that's probably 2003.
