Rackooo got a reaction from BTGbullseye in Tight Budget - What to Upgrade? FX-8320 and R9 270
Quite a hard question and it really depends on the games you play. As far as future proofing goes i would recomend you upgrate the brains of the computer (cpu, ram, mb).

Some games are not that cpu intensive and mostly stress out the gpu and vice versa. So it realy depends on what you play, but the 270 is quite slow for todays standards.

Still i stand by upgrading the heart of the computer before upgrading the gpu since you will not be able to unleash the full potential of any modern game with that processor. And it is easier to swap the graphics card out in the future, if you have all of the bassis cared off.

So to get to your question in summary:

You will notice more fps increase if you change out your graphics card, BUT in cpu intensive titles, you will experience frame drops, stutters and generaly bad gameplay experience if pairing a new graphics card with the fx.

So imho, upgrade the cpu, ram and mb0

Depends on your financial situation. I loved my 1080ti, but the 2080ti is definitely faster! My two fan evga card is super loud though. Get a least a 3 fan or water cooled 2080ti.

Honestly if you're happy with 60fps at 1440p, I wouldn't even think about a 2080 Ti. My HTPC with a 1070 can handle most games well enough to maintain 60fps at max graphical settings on a 1440p screen. Heck, it's able to play quite a few games at 4k without dipping much below 60 fps if settings are dropped to medium.

As someone who owns both right now, just wait nVidia's next generation on 7nm.

There's a performance uplift for certain and the 2080 Ti would allow more eye candy but in no way that's worth it when simply fine tuning your in game settings some should do the trick.

i can still usually get 60fps on 1440p with my 1080ti. I'd suggest waiting for next gen

    Hi fellow members,

I was wondering if any of you are using nzxt aio coolers on your zen+ cpus.

I have a 2700x cooled by a kraken x62, on a crosshair vi hero motherboard and the problem i am having that cam is recording my cpu temp at around 95 degrees celsius (at idle). All other programs record it correctly.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I read some articles on the S9 features.  Meh, doesn't seem like it has enough to move me off my 7 Plus back to Android unless the camera benchmarks to being incredible (non-Google Android is so terrible by default that it would take *a lot* to sway me back to it).  Countdown to the iPhone 8S/9.

Firstoff, you can't overclock non-K chips on the intel side, so you'd want the 8700K (all Ryzen CPUs are overclockable though, with a B350 board or X370).
If you want to get to 5Ghz or more, then you'd want at least a dual-tower air cooler (like the NH-D15 or Dark rock pro 3) or a 240mm AIO. less than 5Ghz will be fine with something like a Cryorig H7.

what do you mean what CPU am I using to hit 4.7, your talking like its this rare thing that never happens lol, any chip that isn't low end and costs more the  $200 should be able to hit 4.7 and by that I dont mean EVERY CPU im saying at least one from each lineup SHOULD be able to yes there is silicon lottery factor and thats exactly why they all SHOULD be able to but not all of them CAN do it.

but I have an i5 4690k that I delided, and where I live its usally very very freezing out it was -8f today, but my gaming room stays at 67 degrees. and yes evey testing place does wahtever but in world use is different then any testing, the only testing that isnt is using it daily as normal for months and then coming back with data you collected.

there are too many variables for those results to mean anythign unless you have the same exact set up and conditions as they do. tobacco companies used to say smoking was good for you but that doesn't mean it is. and now they say you smoke you get cancer, but many people smoke their whole life and never get cancer.
thats why I said just pay the import tax. but I dont see why it would break unless he plays baseball inside his house

Honestly, I've seen it on both sides of the spectrum. I see android fanboys trashing iphone and iphone fanboys trashing android on basically every youtube video I've ever seen. I don't think either platform is without criticism. I used to love ios and praised its ease of use but I think it's been a buggy mess since ios 10. I've recently switched back to android (proud pixel 2 owner) and really love how far android has come. I used to absolutely hate using android phones.

Apple doesn't really claim that features it's adding from years ago are novelties.  It never said that wireless charging was some revolutionary new thing, for example -- just new to the iPhone.

Part of the problem is that some Android fans treat all implementations of a given technology as exactly the same, and roast Apple because it didn't jump on the crappy early implementation.  "Google had NFC payments years before Apple Pay!"  Well yes, but the approach sucked and hardly anyone used it (in part because few companies wanted to support it).  Apple Pay was the first mobile NFC payment system to be easy and accessible enough to get genuinely broad adoption, which is why everyone else copied Apple's basic formula.  "Android had face unlock several years ahead of the iPhone X!"  Yes, but it was so badly done that you could initially fool it with a photo.  Even Samsung's iris scanning is both slow and relatively insecure.

Don't get me wrong, Android does many things very well, sometimes better than iPhones, and has been on the forefront of some technologies.  You still can't get a quad HD iPhone or conduct NFC file transfers, and fast charging is definitely better on Android right now.  But the allure of the iPhone isn't strictly the specs, it's the harder-to-quantify features -- and not just because it tends to wait until it can do a feature well, rather than rushing to do it first.

The OS is consistently faster.  Apps tend to come to iOS first or get new features there first.  You not only get OS updates right away (which should always be the case for every phone), but get those updates for more than a couple of years.  You get tight integration: you can answer a phone call on your Mac/iPad/Watch, or pair your earbuds with every Apple device you own in a matter of seconds.  And of course, you only have to visit an Apple Store to get a fix instead of dealing with your carrier or a mail-in process.

To be clear: I really don't like the Apple fans who are rabidly defensive.  You know, the ones who get genuinely angry if you suggest that Apple has any serious problems, or cling to myths about Google (say, that it's spying on you).  I prefer Apple products, but I just think they're better for the way I operate, not necessarily better for everyone.  My beef is when I see people who are trotting out old, false stereotypes of the company to claim that Apple is worse, like the "you can get a better product for half the price" myth.  By all means say you prefer Android and point out where it's better -- but do so using facts, not conjecture!

@Cyberspirit @firelighter487 I believe he meant 'why are there so many "die-hard" fans on Apple'.

I think that's because of the brand image. Getting an iPhone (or any Apple product) makes them look more like a professional. I'm not into this since I found out pros in tech prefer Android or other OS, but that's just me.
