question about optimizing my i5 10400f
gloege replied to gloege's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
well from what i am reading to my new found knowledge is simple a well bind chip may yes undervolt well but if not it will need to be a little of both ends. then again it was mentioned intel tenth gen undervolt well if that holds true that would be nice as i need a lot of single core performance -

but i asked what is the best medium undervolting and not lowering the PL2 or lowering the PL2 or can i do a little of both or just limit the time it goes in pl2 with undervolting. lots of combinations to think of. i just want to get the as close to the original performance with the lowest impact. kind of what dirty miners do -

so do you know which option/options will get the most out of the cpu. i have the msi gaming wifi z490 motherboard if that helps and gskill trident z and i know i will only be dipping the timers on the ram a sliver and boosting it to 3600 as it already a 3466. as i know ram can affect cpu stabability -

question about optimizing my i5 10400f
gloege replied to gloege's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
that is why i am debating if a stable undervolt will get me more performance then power limiting. i am looking for a good medium between the 2 and if undervolting is going to yield more siignifigant power saving vs performance loss i will take that. -

what do you mean charge what... that is how much my monthly bill changed and i have a 40 inch monitor and use it 8+ hours a day -
but if i undervolt it can give me the same performance or little loss for less electricity used so i was debating in my other post to just stop the cpu from going into PL2 or undervolt it

question about optimizing my i5 10400f
gloege replied to gloege's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
looking to save power. i upgraded to save electricity but if that was the case i should have gone amd. i did not want more then 95 watts and the PL2 in the intel runs over 120 longer then i would like. i figured it normally ran 65 watts but that was till i saw ttechpowerup up that mentioned it can go over easily. i am upgrading from a 95 watt version of the phenom 2 1045t and due to binning it used 103 watts that is a lot less then what the intel i5 10400f is going over -
well will keep looking into it still open for suggestions. the one suggested 149 usd seems no more efficient then a cheaper one under 50 usd
