    Too bad with your predator.  I just suffered the second pump failure on mine and just sent the entire unit back for a refund.  It certainly a great cooler.  Great looking build.

    NoiseBlocker I heard are superb. I bought three, but two were DOA, so I didn't use this brand further on. Well, it's not bad going cheap, when they serve the purpose :). I will give a shot to some of the Be Quiet! fans some day soon I believe.
     
    Yeah, copper makes more sense compared to aluminium due to notorious clogging issues, which are caused by aluminium and it's fine powder produced overtime by peeling of the surface. With copper, this issue is close to non-existent. But still, these AiO solutions aren't meant for more than 1-2 years I believe, even when Corsair puts [ridiculous] 5, 7 or 10 years warranty on all of them.
     
    Noctua and their prime "diarrhea" lineup ain't rippling the waters of the market anymore, mostly due to their "diarrhea" characteristic color, which is a total shame. I'd be still going full noctua, if they made blades transparent and put 4-12 leds inside/on the outer rim, or would at least make them black and white, black and gray, or put red/blue as an accent color. Though, I believe Austrian minds won't go that far any time soon, which might as well be their demise.

    With the ridiculously low and trolling Arctic Cooling and their Liquid Freezer 120, 240 and 360 AiOs, they're pretty much closing down the low-end to mid-range grade AiOs and CPU coolers in general [even the Air ones], due fact, that their unmatched in almost all areas.

    I had the pleasure with AC LF120 and it was an exquisite experience. If it didn't looks so cheap, etc. I'd be using it myself  it can cool down the 6850k running on 1.218 vCore ticking on 4.2 GHz without a sweat in push/pull configuration. We're talking 140W [iridium soldered though], slightly OCed 6 core beast and cheap 50e AiO cooler here.

    Attached You can find my ex-computer [Chaos Spectrum, called after the mouse I use :)], which is now powered by cheap, but heavily functional CLC from AC. Sorry for the photo quality, it ain't the best, but You can see what's going on the picture.

    I actually have the Pure Wings (Yes, I'm cheap). I don't think anything can touch them for the price they go for. I hear the Silent Wing 3 are really great (They are airflow type fans, so not so great for radiators). NoiseBlocker fans as well. Though personally if I'm going to spend a lot on a fan, I'm more than likely going to just buy more Delta server fans (I have several and love them...They're also pretty much indestructible). That's a shame to hear about the Corsair ML fans since I thought they were supposed to be the highest end corsair fans. I have the Cooler Master Jetflo and it has the airflow but is a tad too loud (even in the lower RPM range).
     
    Yeah, I went for the H105 for the performance per dollar...though if BeQuiet is solid copper, I'd go for that (I like copper more than aluminum).
     
    I agree, I do think Noctua kind of has lacked improvement over the years (granted, they had really good fans though). The fan space is quite vicious with competition now. I kind of hope Noctua wakes up and offers reasonable colored fans again (Not the Redux line up / Industrical iPPC ones). Yeah, hopefully they do something (especially with the negative rumors going around about them changing to China production and being "lower" quality").

    Oh that sucks to hear about the old EK AIO. Though wow, very interesting to hear your experience with the BeQuiet AIO. I had no idea they were actually copper. I might use those instead of corsair now (Have a H105 at the moment). I'm also waiting for the EK modular system, but I can't tell if it's going to come out or if they've killed it off...
     
    Yeah, I have quite a lot of BeQuiet fans in my server and wow, I think they really give Noctua a run for their money to be honest. They deliver a lot of airflow without being loud at all. I've heard great things about their cases (But sadly I don't use a PC case anymore...moved to server racks instead).

    ryzen has actually gotten quite stable after some firmware upgrades from the motherboard manufacturers. Ryzen had some teething problems at launch, but that was 100% expected and the important part is how fast they are resolved (and it's been pretty good in that regard so far). 
     
    The advice used to be to wait a bit on a new platform until the launch bugs got worked out unless you want to deal with said teething problems, but the platform differences on intels side have been really smooth the past few generations since the architecture hasn't changed much at all, so people have gotten used to have flawless launches.
     
    Can't blame you for feeling frustrated though, so as long as you're happy with the end result that's what matters.

    Well, I feel like AMD has lower end CPUs cornered, but I think higher end will still be a hard fought battle. I'm rooting for Ayymd but its definitely good for the PC industry to see some serious competition to intel at all in general.

    If you say so. (but in all honesty pre applied thermal paste is usually a terrible idea, my ryzen therm paste made a mess).

    Great way to put it, if I may say so. Thats totally understandable, I think buying any hardware at launch, or anything really, is just a mistake if your expecting flawless launches.

    Good to check. I see this alot on reddit and here too, some kids throwing an i9 into their minecraft rig without a GPU, OS, proper case, etc, and also not realising the game only benifits from single core.

    Using one cpu 8 pin connector per strand of wires from the power supply would be better in your case.
    More wires between power supply and motherboard is better (there's less energy lost in the wires, the wires heat less etc)
     
    The 7900x and socket 2066 are in general very power hungry and the vrms also heat up a lot, you can read a lot about it here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/-intel-skylake-x-overclocking-thermal-issues,5117-3.html
     
    The cables used in SATA strips can generally handle about 10A on each voltage wire, so around 120 watts of power from 12v, around 50w on 5v , around 35w on 3.3v (almost never used in PCs) and each sata connector in theory can do 4.5A on each voltage so about 55w on 12v but generally you wouldn't want to go over 30 watts on each sata connector. Basically everything you mention barely uses 20 watts (less than half the maximum capability of each sata connector)
     
    Also note that your fans will use 12v while SSDs will probably use 5v mostly ... so you don't add the power used by SSDs to the power used by fans, they're different voltage lines.

    That is a quad socket chip. The dual socket chip 2699R V4 is only $4560

    I mean, his video doesn't apply to me because I'll never use Prime 95 in my system, ever. Much like I'll never use Furmark to burn my GPU to a crisp. But if you go and create the most unrealistic scenarios for anything out there, you're gonna have problems. 
     
    I wonder what will happen if I take all my case fans out and let my components fend for themselves... they're gonna burn up right? No shit!  That's how stupid his video is. If people are going to run Prime 95, then good on them. But I find it hard to believe people buying into HEDT don't understand the risks when they're not taking proper precautions and making sure that all their components are up to snuff.
     
    The title of his video tells me he has vile intentions and was meant to rile people up.

    Still, all I can say for Der8auer and his new test is: What kind of person would have 1 fan for intake test PC? I dunno, but I use 3 for intake and 4 for exhaust. And when I game, they run at 700-900 rpm, and I can still hear only the game and not the PC. Last 5 generations of Intel CPUz and motherboards with their respective configurations need moderate airflow, not summer breeze. One can't achieve moderate airflow with one, or two intake fans afaik, no matter how big they are [unless You use 200+ mm fan, of course]. But really now. What kind of dumbass would buy a mobo for 200-300e [w/o VAT] for a 890e [w/o VAT] CPU? I'm about to cool the 7900X with Predator 360. I don't know, but again. Der8auer using cheap AiO to test HEDT CPU? With 140W TDP? i9 are meant for either custom loops with 1 240 80mm rad, or 1 360 60mm rad, or multirad configuration, at least some Swiftech H320X2 Prestige, or EK-XLC Predator 360. Only these two AiOs pack strong enough liquid pushing pressure[?]/liquid flow, tubing diameter and radiator size to take away that amount of heat, that's dissipated by 140W CPU. Nothing less. And also, when one builds HEDT PC, one uses multiple fans for air intake, not one. Or is it only me?

    @VagabondWraith I think so too. Like, the guy has TONS of experience, I acknowledge that. And what he says almost makes complete sense. But still. Just as I wrote. It's like trying to get my 6850K to 4.7 GHz at 1.48x vcore, and using MSi X99A Raider, or Asus X99-E. It's a no go, at both cases, no matter how "good the design of the motherboard is."

    I still don't get his intention behind the video. I mean you throw Prime 95 on any Intel CPU and you're going to run into issues. Why X299 all of a sudden? I mean a sensationalist headline purposefully made to draw attention for a majority of people who are not running Prime 95 with Furmark with 1 case fan to go with it.

    There's nothing wrong with setting XMP and going with it.  I would encourage you to overclock in this order.  CPU core, memory and lastly CPU cache.  CPU core trumps all with regards to overall performance so you shouldn't allow an overclock in the latter two areas to interfere with you hitting the highest clock speed possible.  
     
    Once you've determined the maximum stable CPU clock, then start messing with memory and CPU cache.  Since you already know that your CPU core is stable, if you start having issues, you know where to focus your attention.  Keep in mind that as you increase memory and cache performance you may need to add more Vcore to what was a stable CPU overclock.  This is due to the fact that you are now pushing more data over the cores and increasing load.  More load usually equals more Vcore.  
     
    As far as AIDA64, about the only thing I like about it is the Cache & Memory Benchmark and the cache stress testing.  Other than that, I don't really use it for stability testing other than cache.  
     
    The latency that I was talking about is within the Cache & Memory Benchmark.  It measure the read delay from the time that a read command is issue to it hitting the CPU ready for work.  The faster (lower latency) this happens, the less cycles on the CPU that  are wasted.  
     
    Yes, memory tweaking helps a great deal.  Some applications will favor a lot of bandwidth while others favor tighter timings with lower latency.  Why not have both if you can? 
     
     
    How about something as simple as POST?  Talk about starting right from the beginning.  POST is as fast as it is with z270.  X99 is notorious for very long POST times and that is now a thing of the past.  If you set up a fast boot with x299, it will boot up in seconds like a z270 platform.  POST / booting is the only thing that I don't love about my 5960x/x99 setup.  Switching gear a bit.  Anyone that says that x99 is not longer relevant is a fucking idiot.  My x99 rig is still a beast!
     
    There's more, but I need to keep you coming back for the good stuff.
