If you set number of columns to 4 you will get more capacity as there is basically 1 parity drive worth of data now. Should give you about 43.5TiB usable.

If you lose a drive you need to replace it, and it will show a missing drive. you need at lease the number of columns worth of drive to have it in good condition.

ANouther options would be a raid card, but that needs new hardware.

OPtimization spreads the data across the different drives(I think). Its good if you add a new drive to the pool so all the drives have equal usage.

You add another disk to the pool then tell the pool to remove the failed one. It will be marked as failed and you can only remove it after adding a replacement and not before, it won't let you.

Try it with your virtual disks, unmount or offline one of them in Disk Manager then try the replacement process with a new VDHX.

No, it'll be an artifact of using virtual disks and allocation unit sizes in how the volume you created was done. You will get better actual performance than this. Also when you do it for real and you format the volume don't use the Windows default allocation unit size, make it much larger and you'll get a lot better performance.

Do performance test before putting your data on it.

Greater risk of data loss and corruption and difficulty in managing the underlying storage. But mainly performance related. By default a VHDX is thin provisioned so when you are putting data in to the pool these backend virtual disks would have to grow in file size and allocate space on the disks which takes time and  that will cause performance loss. Then you have multiple layers of storage sectors and file system allocations.

It can be fine, or you can force the VHDX virtual disks to be created at full size, but overall not worth the hassle and risk of problems.

Yes, but it's also like RAID 10 as well. Two-way Mirror can do stripping if there is enough disks in the pool and a larger than 1 column size is used. But the usable capacity is always 50%.

I have a tip for you. Go in to disk manager and create the same number of virtual disks (VHDX) as you have but making them only a few GB in size but of the same relative size disks you intend to use i.e. 40GB, 50GB, 60GB, 2x 80GB, 100GB

Then mount and add these virtual disks to a Storage Pool and create a volume. You will be able to see the maximum size a single volume would be allowed to be and how much total pool is used.

    Aka try before you buy

You can use HDDs of different sizes but the usable capacity of the pool for a single large volume is effected by this. The best approach for you is to create the pool with only the 4TB, 5TB & 6TB first then add all the other disks after that. During the creation with the first 3 disks create a volume that is single parity. Doing it this way makes the stripe/column number size small as possible which is good for data placement reasons later when you add the multiple larger disks that can take more data placements of the 2 data chunks and 1 parity chunk.

Sounds like this isn't for you, but there are definitely a TON of people out there whom need a laptop for it's ease of mobility and use case.  The LPP isn't required for the system to be useful in any regard like you're stating in your analogy, it simply enhances a mobile product to essentially provide near desktop performance and cooling capabilities when the user returns home.  We're trying to merge the best of both world's here and we think it does a great job.

There's a pretty simple solution for the water drain issue, use something like a tiny version of hydraulic quick connect fittings. They have spring loaded metal part that seats on a rubber seal so that when they're disconnected only a drop or two of fluid is lost. I understand they worry about water heating up and expanding inside the laptop, but having it not pour out on disconnection and giving a tool to plug into the laptop to drain it over a sink later would be a better solution than just letting it pee on your desk when you unplug it. Ideally something more like a drain function where you could have the pump just suck the water out of the laptop cooler into the external cooler would be the best but heck if I know how to make that work cheaply enough.

I’ve tried signing up for Privacy a while back after hearing about it through an LTT spot. Unfortunately, after registering I was told my account was under review. After inquiring if there was additional info needed, I was told that upon review my account was being deactivated. The same email said they would give no explanation for why this was the case. The support experience behind this was terrible, as I was unable to provide or gather any information regarding this.

Should probably just pick out a pre-built system for your friend, really the only way to not pay 2x to 3x the price for a GPU.

I have started this search on partition recovery wizard waiting it to complete
Edit: I let it run all night but in the morning it was not open 😞 data recovery software seems to find my files but folder structure is important over 4 tb of files it will be impossible for me to reorganize those. I will do AOMEI again any other recommendations to fix the disk?

Do you know any other programs for me to try or any forums that could help me so i can ask there again

Start an admin command promt (type cmd on search and run as admin)

    run this code
    sfc/scannow

This scans system files for corruption if you have any corrupted files they will be fixed but something is wrong if there are even fixed files since no files should be corrupted.
Most likely is ram or cpu since you have new SSD.
-You can also test with single ram stick if you have 2
-Updating bios can help because bios controls a lot of voltages.
-You can increase ram voltage slightly like 50mV (0.05Volts)

Please test https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHelper up to 400 percent if you can

    Welcome to the forums!!!

I would personally stay away from the H1 case in general, even after the recall unless third party testing can safely determine the replacement PCIe riser cable will be completely fixed. Their H510 case is a complete no no if you want airflow and cool components.

I have 5930k on asus rampage v edition 10 motherboard so it is meant to overclock
i have thermaltake water 3.0 ultimate which has 360mm radiator with .35 amp each really strong fans
when i run prime95 (avx) on 4ghz even temps climb up to 104C  radiator is cold hose is very hot to touch exit hose is also hot only the entry point of the radiator is hot rest 300mm is cold
when i touch the entry point of the rad it burns my hand but the rest is literally room temperature
i am sure something is wrong with the aio cooler i do not have time to investigate this couple of days i don't have air cooler to reference it (thou i have a lot of heatsink and fan)
my overclock is only increasing the multiplier and vcore
now i am just asking what does that cold radiator mean?
