As in it didn't sell well. MEG series are pretty overpriced for enthusiast boards especially compared to Asus ROG flagships or even lower end MSI boards in their MAG and MPG line.

Just gaming right? 13700 non K would be easier to cool and you dont lose much if any performance.

You should wait for the new CPUs before buying.
Intel 12th gen is released on 5th of November in a couple of days.
Ryzen 6000 is released in early 2022.

What you can do right now is start looking for a good GPU for a decent price.
    RTX 3080 or better.

With this build you could get a pretty solid gpu  maybe a 3060 ti or if your lucky to get one for msrp than 3080 would be perfect. Its a little overkill so you could get a 5800x, 32gb ram, samsung 970 1tb, a bad motherboard, etc.

Your system is still kinda high end, maybe just a cpu upgrade is better for now, like what others are saying, but I don't know if you will notice any improvement in games, because it depends on the game.

I feel gaming laptops are a poor value for money.
The GPU is generally not upgradable so the moment games comes out that outclass it, the value plummets.
There is also the potential for overheating (more than one gaming laptop has had manufacturing defects that cause it to thermal throttle to the point of uselessness right out of the box) and (again, typically, not always) mobile CPUs that are also not upgradable.

If you are willing to spend the dough, and understand you will get far better value for money on a desktop, the ROG is better simply because it's newer and will have a longer shelf life.

just from a quick glance it looks like you don't have a Hard Drive plugged in. go through and make sure all your sata drives and unplug them and back in. if you have an NVMe take it out and put it back in. Also did you switch to a different mobo and CPU or is that what you had to begin with?

Maybe you could upgrade to a more powerful CPU like the Ryzen 7 3700x or even the Ryzen 9 3900x, but if you're happy with how it already runs, there's not really any point.

Same goes for the GPU too - you have a very powerful card already, you'd need to buy at least an RTX 3080 to get any appreciable performance improvements, and prices on those cards are nuts! You could probably also sell one of your 1080Ti for a pretty good amount of money as well, given how crazy high demand for GPUs is now.

You could step up to a X470 board for better features and forward compatibility with Ryzen 3000 if you step back a bit on the RTX 2080 in your part list.

You could also put in a better PSU and mechanical HDD and still be under $1400:

Switched to Ryzen, but you won't see a big difference, and the 2600X is overclockable so you can potentially get more out of it if you so choose. I also put in an RTX 2080 (this is the big selling point). However there is a "hybrid" to these builds:

I think the SSD is a really important factor to any decent gaming build these days (most people do).

StutterAndLag reacted to Goildzy in Do I have bad FPS?
Well its simple. 4k on 60hz refresh means it flickers 60 frames per second. So even if you have 5000 fps your display will only output 60 frames per second anyway. With this theory and real time proof you can just hook up a very cheap cpu (wouldnt advice tho) to a 1080ti as long as the cpu pushes 60fps ur good on 4k as 4k is very gpu demanding at these ages. And yes sadly we live in a 200 fps i need 999 fps guy on my 1080p time lol and the overkills i see. The dunking on chips like ryzen is also sad, its a good chip ffs...ok im getting really off topic.

Sli is not standard with all games maybe 10% of em. Indeed try running all the same with 1 card and note the fps and compare them. See where you notice a diff. Optimisation is indeed the problem here, though i secretly wonder how much the 7700k would push out of this! Update your tests please, i predict a drop in Arma 3 on that and a minore one in the division as result of optimisation on sli being different. Heck i think a single well cooled 1080ti would allready spin alot of your games 35-70 on 4k.

Goodluck, jeez a 4k pc i dream of such overkilling for my home front! Nice....
