How to lock CPU frequency
CoffeeBerry replied to CoffeeBerry's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
You're essentially performing an instructed guess. Which isn't really what I'm looking for. I don't want to be mean or anything, especially since I'm thinking the same thing, but I'm looking for a true answer. -
CPU: i5-3570 (non-k) Motherboard: Asus H61M-PLUS (Latest Bios) I want to lock the frequency to 3.8Ghz. However, not only do I completely ignore hot to do that, I'm unsure if I can even lock the frequency to 3.8Ghz because of my current chip-set. Hence me posting this.

I want to know what's the ideal temp. for a CPU at 100% load. I've seen my CPU hit 75°C at full load & now I'm unsure as to what exactly I should be aiming for, a new case for better airflow, new CPU cooler or maybe better thermal paste? Your input is valued & needed. Thanks. Current Specs: CPU: i5-3570 (NON-K) CPU Cooler: Cryorig C7 (Thermal Paste is what's included with the C7)

Well that sucks. Thanks for the info. It runs at 1600Mhz with really good timings 8-8-8-23-2N, but as soon as I enable the XMP profile the overclock fails. Oh well, at least I got it for a fair price.
-
No matter what, I just can't get it over 1600Mhz. Please help. MOBO: Asus H61M-PLUS (latest BIOS) RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Z 16GB (2 x 8GB) 1866Mhz [8-8-8-23-2N] (Running at 1600Mhz)

Ballistix Elite DDR3 1866 or 2133?
CoffeeBerry replied to CoffeeBerry's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Just found a kit that runs at 1866Mhz with a cas of 9-9-9-24. I'm going to buy this one I think. -
Ballistix Elite DDR3 1866 or 2133?
CoffeeBerry replied to CoffeeBerry's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Kind of true... It'll give me, like, half a frame more. -
I'm scratching my head because of CAS Latency. You see, the Ballistix Elite DDR3 come in multiple flavors. 1866 & 2133. However, does the extra 267Mhz really compensate? The 1866: 9-9-9-27 The 2133: 11-11-11-27 And I just can't figure out which is actually faster? Since one has a cas of 9, & the other one 11... Help me

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/128gb-ssd-830-series I'll be using an SSD for boot drive, & an HDD of 2TB. Probably a BarraCuda... PSU, I do agree, however, I want to insure that I'm safe for future upgrades. I want lots of flexibility.
-
I want a GPU from Sapphire because of it's looks & cooling capabilities. As for the 480, well, a lot of them are constantly out of stock... Besides, I'll probably end up with AMD's new lineup of GPU's... As for the PSU, the X series have gold on it, & yeah, I know the PSU is hidden, but in the future, if I upgrade to a windowed case, I do NOT want that gold. The SuperNOVA is much more color neutral.

CASE: By better, I mean more for my money. Basically something that's cheaper.

5400RPM 2.5 drive faster than 7200RPM 3.5 drive?
CoffeeBerry replied to burnttoastnice's topic in Storage Devices
I believe that 7200RPM thing was true in the past. But nowadays it's a different ball game. Here: http://www.seagate.com/tech-insights/choosing-high-performance-storage-is-not-about-rpm-anymore-master-ti/ Well, they talk about SSHD's here, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ EDIT: Here's another link: http://www.zdnet.com/article/how-higher-rpm-hard-drives-rip-you-off/ -
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Stani/saved/dx4TWZ These following components are subject to change: GPU, SSD, HDD, Case, PSU, Case Fans. GPU: Latest from AMD (Unless there's a G-Sync PLS monitor that wont break the bank.) SSD/HDD: Whatever's got the best bang for my $. Case: If there's a better option than the Define Mini C, then I'll probably go for it. PSU: If there's a better option, I'll take it. (Minimum 80+ Gold/Fully Modular) Case Fans: Max. level of noise is 20DB. Budget is whatever. So long as it makes sense. Hence me getting a brand new 3570 for 150$ (CAD). There hasn't been any groundbreaking improvements in years, & I don't really need that much computing power right now. Just what's necessary for 1080p at 60FPS at absolute highest settings. NOTE: This list only contains the MSRP prices. In other words, that's the worst case scenario. All prices are in CAD... As for the items I bought, I typed in the FULL price (Shipping, Item in question, taxes etc.)

budget gaming pc help for building a budget gaming pc
CoffeeBerry replied to sumitkumarkar's topic in New Builds and Planning
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Stani/saved/NPhCJx This is my take. Sorry if it's above your budget... The water cooling is practically necessary. Overclocking a 7700k needs some good cooling... NOTE: This is somewhat of a guide. Change parts as you wish. (Just, not the water cooling...)
