Peter_5's Achievements

  1. I have an old Thinkpad with 160GB of hard drive space and a 240GB SSD would be perfect for me since I'm currently running out of space and it would be nice for my Matlab and FEA programs for university
  2. Roccat is awesome for doing this giveaway, I would prefer the Kova if I had to choose
  3. My favourite feature is the HDR on the front facing camera
  4. My mouse is really cheap and I wouldn't mind a better one
  5. The only thing that I know of that will benefit from 4K on a 5.5" screen is the Oculus Rift, which isn't an insignificant thing especially for the future. Otherwise I agree that it is unnecessary and possibly harmful for a smartphone as it will draw more power to function and require more power from the GPU driving it. For a VR display the only thing left is for someone (probably Samsung) to release an OLED version of that with low pixel persistence and we have the display we need for proper VR

  7. Looks like this is the sim racing version of Star Citizen and GTA 5 lol
  8. Are you sure you read the title of the topic properly? If you think you have and are still wondering why there isn't a Celsius measurement, let me explain it to you: 130° C stands for 130 degrees Celsius, which roughly equals 400 degrees Kelvin. Both of these are in the title
  9. I read about a news in a website in my country, so I tried to look up the original article in English and the only place where this is published is in their website, but I suppose they only announced it yesterday so there is little chance that people saw it. There will be some time before anyone can recreate this, since the sheer forming of the alloy is probably extremely difficult judging by the instructions in the website of how the material was made. Either way, do not forget that there are some amazing scientists like Nicola Tesla who were declared liars and madmen by their contemporaries out of jealousy, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone comes up with a fake reproduction of the experiment just to prove them wrong without actually trying to make it work. Unfortunately, right now they aren't able to do it in a natural environment (i.e. with moisture and different gases), just at a natural ambient temperature, as we can see in the instructions for the reproduction: Still, this is MAJOR progress in the superconductor sphere and I am sure that a few years down the road we will have managed to come up with a solution to that problem as well.
  10. Looks like superconductivity at room temperature has been achieved by the scientists running the website Superconductivity.org . The researchers claim to have made what is considered by some the ultimate achievement in the physics of electricity by creating two alloys, Sn9SbTe3Ba2MnCu14O28+ and Sn8SbTe4Ba2MnCu14O28+ , which showed superconducting properties at temperatures of up to 400 Kelvin or 130 degrees Celsius! This is going to have a big impact on every device or machine, which runs on electricity. All we need now is to implement it into everyday electronics and machines and we will be able to do amazing stuff with them. Link to the original article http://www.superconductors.org/400K_SC.htm P.S. Now I know some of you are going to be skeptical about the truthfulness of these claims, and to some degree rightfully so, the website does not look professionally made in any way, but don't forget that these guys probably can't afford to have a nice website built (unless they use Squarespace, lol) and are throwing all their time and financial resources at doing the research and achieving these amazing results. Also, look at the link with the whole web page full of information on how the experiment was conducted, the graphs of the results and how to reproduce everything. It does not look like some random guy claims to have done this in his back yard and put it on the Internet.
  11. As a current Redmi 1S user, I'd like to see your opinion on their build and camera quality on that one as well as their Mi4, MiPad and others, I am not that much into phones. Most of all, though I want to see what you think about MIUI. I love it because I can choose what permissions to give to what application AFTER accepting the terms and conditions on Google Play. On other phones you only get such level of control after you root and possibly install a custom ROM.
  12. I really wish I could afford this beauty, or even better the Workstation version that is probably coming soon with a Maxwell Quadro GPU. It will be a beast for both gaming and CAD/CAM, which we are going to be doing more and more in university (engineering student here)
  13. I think that they should refund 50 dollars or one AAA game to everyone who purchased one and make sure that all retailers show it as a 3.5 + 0.5 GB card. Some people bought the card because they wanted to upgrade from their 780s 3GB buffer, so they are really pissed off right now. False advertising and misleading the customer has never been cool. I'm not saying the 970 doesn't perform well for its price, but I think they should have made that clear, instead of wait and see if someone notices. This is going to be a big hit for their smug ego and I think it's their own fault. Intel doesn't sell you a 4 GHz quad-core processor ,wait months after release for someone else to discover that if you put the CPU under load the fourth core only reaches 2 GHz, and say "but look it still performs great!" - I know it still performs great, but that's because you haven't changed anything since you launched it. It would have performed better if everything was running at its advertised speeds. Saving on manufacturing costs and trying to get away with misleading the customer is not right and will never be. All manufacturers should know this by now. I'm saying all this as someone who hasn't bought their products, just from an outside perspective.
  14. It's the OTA that my relative used, she did it herself and she does not know what flashing means I still have my Nexus 7 2013 on 4.4.4 and I don't know why it still hasn't received the update yet. I am not sure I want to update it after this though. I will probably hold off until more feedback comes or some fix that works appears
  15. The long-awaited update to Android 5.0 Lollipop came to a lot of old Nexus devices, including the Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and even the 2012 Nexus 7. However, many users (including a relative of mine with a Nexus 7 2012) have reported that the update brings many bugs and issues with the Wi-Fi connection, the performance of the device and many others. Many owners of the device (including my relative and people on Google's product forums) can confirm that these problems are particularly bad with the Nexus 7 2012, making it basically unusable, with wake-up-from-sleep times being 5-10 seconds long (confirmed by my relative) and even screen rotate lagging severely. . original sources: http://www.latinpost.com/articles/26379/20141124/android-l-5-0-lollipop-update-bugs-worry-users-especially.htm https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/to2BHjmhh-I[1-25-false]
