  1. Budget (including currency): 1800 euro Country: Ireland (any shops in EU will do) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: DaVinci Resolve 18, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Handbreak, FFMPEG, Reaper, Cubase. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): No gaming will be done on this unit, it's strictly a dedicated work PC where 80% of use will be Video Editing the other 20% are social media, business apps (O365, CRMs etc...) and watching YouTube videos. I am looking for input on what to go for in terms of CPU+MBO+COOLING, GPU, SSD, PSU and CASE. No need for input on peripherals/monitor or software. The main app that is used is DaVinci Resolve. All help is welcome!
  2. I would not be going for AM5 unless you have a bigger budget as it will require you to update almost everything (MBO, CPU, RAM and possibly PSU if you also update the GPU). If you feel 16GB of RAM is OK for you I would go towards the 5800X3D which is supported on your MBO with BIOS 4801 (https://www.asus.com/supportonly/rog strix b450-f gaming/helpdesk_cpu/) and then see what can be done in terms of GPU upgrades if that is something you wanna do.
  3. Awesome! I was usually just hanging out looking for some solutions here and there...I think this is the only forum I am still a member of xD
  4. Yeah, OBS is the way to go. You will choose the output from OBS as your input in Discord and all your inputs (desktop audio, microphone, sound effects etc...) will be routed into OBS. I would suggest checking out these videos as a guide, OBS is a bit of a pain on the first go EDIT: Be careful when downloading OBS and make sure you are on their website and no the ad for the site. The ad is linked to a phishing site that does install OBS but also malware that will swipe your credentials etc... (more info: )
  5. Interesting. Did you have to turn PBO off, cause I think it's on by default right?
  6. I have/had similar issues with 5900x. Can you post details of your specs and what the idle temps are. Maybe some pics as well.
  7. I've been looking for an app/widget to show temps, disk usage, ram usage and other info. Of course my first idea was rainmeter but then I remembered how much time I would usually spend in making it look good and wanted to see if there are any other option out there. Googling has brought me to reddit and something called JaxCore: https://jaxcore.app/index.html It seems to be based on rainmeter but I have no experience with it and was wondering if there are any users here on LTT and if so, what experiences do you have with it? Would you recommend it, did you have any issues etc...
  8. Sweet! Now that you are mentioning all the upgrades, I think I might update my PC rig details!
  9. I just installed SignalRGB and MY MIND IS BLOWN! This is sooo good! Thanks for the tips guys, I had no clue that there is something out there having these features and is free O_o I see there is a pro option but I don't really need it, the free presets I've tried already are super good and maybe down the line I might get the paid version but so far - bye bye all the bloat and welcome SignalRGB!
  10. Yeah, as mentioned in the initial post it's all the latest available. It could be a x370 thing, since this update was IMO really unexpected but awesome!
  11. Ah awesome! I am looking into SignalRGB now, I haven't even installed the iCUE yet, cause I just hate all the various software available. Do I have to uninstall Aura and CAM or just not open them if I use SignalRGB?
  12. So, I always hated Aura but the new bloatware called Armory Crate is just something I don't wanna use at all. Is there a software you guys and gals have experience with that can be used to control all RGB stuff inside the PC (asus, corsair, nzxt etc) at once?
  13. The 5800X3D was both out of stock and 30 euro more for some reason on amazon.de (and still is). I also do a lot of full on audio production and video editing. I knew they were hot but since I was used to the low 60ish on the 1700 this was quite the surprise, especially the way the readings jump up and down all the time. But yeah, as I am typing this I also tweaked the x52 in CAM and now it's at 35 while having the browser with a couple of tabs open and wallpaper engine running in the background. Not sure if I should tweak the powerplan as well, I've tried the Ryzen balance and the normal balanced but didn't notice any difference. Also, it seems that Ryzen Master is the only one picking up correct temps which is very similar to when Zen1 was launched and all the temps were offset by 10 degrees.
  14. As per topic I've decided to pull the trigger and rather than upgrading everything grab a 5900x, update my bios and install additional RAM. So, my current setup is as follows: Asus Crosshair Hero VI x370 with latest BIOS (8601) Ryzen 5900x (no OC, just stock) Kraken X52 2x32GB Corsair Vengance 3200 Seasonic TX-650W Asus 2080 Super Multiple SSDs and HDDs In Win 805 (with moded front panel to ensure better air intake as shown here https://imgur.com/a/HRTcJ#9aLXr6z) Before I've changed the CPU my 1700 was running around 30°C idle and 65°C under load. With the new CPU as per Ryzen Master I am running around 32-35°C idle (it's weird as it's jumping around, as per other posts and videos it's like a normal behavior on the newer Zen gens) however if I fire up Aida64 and run the System Stability Test (Stress CPU, FPU, cache, system memory) I am running around 78°C to sometimes 82°C. I have not OC-ed anything nor do I plan to, bios has been updated, cmos reset, chipset drivers and all other drivers updated. Is this normal behavior when a 240m AIO is used? It's less than 2 years old and just before swapping the CPU the 1700 was running cool as usual. The thermal paste I am using is the grizzly thermal paste and after I've noticed the temps I did take the whole PC apart, cleaned all the fans, GPU, radiator etc and reapplied the paste again and made sure all is as it should be. Is this something I should be worried about and/or is this expected behavior? Here are a couple of pics for reference.
