The data is constantly changing. And it's terrabytes. Plus, we'd rather not entrust our data to someone else.

My Aunt: And ? Which Phone do you have, Samsung or Apple ?
Me: I have an OnePlus 5t
She: What is that ?
Me: An Android Phone
She: Annn-droiiid ???
Me: Ok, I see you don't understand *goes to the toilet to calm down*
And the most disgustingest part of all these Stupid conversations with relatives is the fact that they allways think that they know better and think there are only 2 Smartphone Brands, I blame marketing for that.

We do not allow topics such as this.
We cannot help bypass a legitimate secure connection.

I feel like this is too dumb to be a true story but I also live for the narrative either way ?

These 2 guys were talking during lunch and one of starting saying “ BRo remember when he hacked the WiFi and shut it down?” Other guy “ yea bro” and I proceeded to ask them what they did.... “we got on the terminal and we wrote a command and it showed us everything we can do, it had disconnect WiFi and t shut down the WiFi for everybody” other guy replies “we hacked the ip bro we shut everything down” I replied “ you do realize that only for your computer and not the whole school?” They reply “nahhhh bro we hacked the ip and shut it down I did something like /c c/ (?????¿¿) I don’t remember but it shut it down” this is the last time I ever bother listening to people about “hacking”

I second the pfsense, especially if you wish to use QoS tools. The Ubiquity gear requires you to use hardware offloading to achieve the 1Gbps which will shut off those features.

Just making sure, you want gigabit speeds for the ethernet right? Because expecting 1gigabit over WiFi is quite a hard ask.
The UniFi USG is a pretty solid router, does gigabit unless you turn on IPS / IDS. There's also the Edgerouter 4 if you want more overkill (Not quite as easy to set up, but still not bad)
And if you're really willing to DIY, there's always pfSense.

As much as I loathe CenturyLink (I switched to Comcast who are shockingly less evil), but I have to blame the idiots of the Utah government for going full blown religious sensationalist trying to censor the internet of porn.
It's like when a customer calls in wanting to block everything on their kids expensive new iPhone and I'm just thinking why TF did you give your kid a smartphone if you are trying to gimp it to be a basic phone with a nice screen.

Why do I feel like net neutrality having gone away has something to do with this?
-
BakugoHero reacted to DynamicDumbA55 in Choosing The Right Home Network Router
Bottleneck is definitely the network speed, especially over wireless. I'm pretty sure the basic leased router simply can't handle the amount of devices being used. For example, when my desktop (currently the newest and most demanding device on the network) goes on, the network seems to slow down on the other desktop and on the Wi-Fi. Occasionally I will go around turning off the Wi-Fi on phones/tablets/laptops and the issue is resolved (this is a very strange solution in my opinion, but it does work).
We only use the router for internet. Which is why we would prefer an all in one router.

Their isn't really a "popular" ISP in the USA, due to you can only get one real option in most areas, even major cities.
Its like being the most popular student in a 1 person school.

Another good one I've dealt with has been attempting to explain to my family that yes they bought an expensive router, no they will not necessarily see any speed increase, especially with my father's 6mbps down 1 up connection ?

this conversation happened between my mom and me just before christmas. she was doing some last minute shopping and asked me for a recommendation for my uncle. he like to take pictures and goes on a trip at least once every 3 months and already has a dslr so i told my mom to get him the ryze tello as it is relatively cheap that captures fairly decent pictures/videos. i then told her that he would only need a mobile phone to connect with it via wifi. then my mom thought it was a great idea because they will have a trip back to the philippines and would be perfect to capture aerial shots but she is worried that it might not work there because the place they are going to does not have wifi. i then told my mom that it does not matter because the phone will directly connect to the drone via wifi. she then reiterated that the place is a bit remote with no/poor internet. this went on for probably 5-10mins before my mom understood that wifi and internet are totally different things. i had to use a bluetooth pairing analogy which thank god i had just explained to her a few weeks before. ?

I can relate, one of my friends asked me to come look at his new pc he built because his CPU wouldn’t fit right, so I looked at it and he was trying to put an AMD cpu in an INTEL motherboard
he also tried to use laptop ram on the desktop motherboard
