  1. Hello Linus Tech Tips Community, I hope everybody is having a great day! I purchased an Asus Zephyrus M16 (GU603ZW-K8062W) about a week ago. Suddenly while I was working, the battery charger stopped being recognized by the laptop, the laptop changed its power profile due to "not being plugged in anymore", and the laptop stopped charging. Connected to the laptop were: A USB monitor, a USB mouse, a USB number pad. The mouse and number pad were connected via an "Inateck 4 Port USB A Hub USB 3.2 Data Hub". These were my steps to troubleshoot the issue: - I made sure no connection was lose - I tried different power sources - I changed the power cable that goes from AC adapter into the power source - I uninstalled/re-installed the battery drivers - I did a power reset - I played with the power profiles The laptop just didn't charge anymore, however I could slowly charge the laptop via USB-C plugs. So, the issue is either the AC Adapter charger or the Laptop charge port. What other suggestions would you have to troubleshoot this issue without affecting the return policy or warranty and opening the laptop up?
  2. Just to give you guys an update. I made a new Windows 10 installation, and it's been days and I've not had any shut downs. I was worried, because during one of the times when my PC restarted while I was plugging in the Windows 10 USB Flash Drive, the PC lost its power during the bootup. So I got worried that it may be the PSU and not the OS since the OS wasn't running yet. But it turns out that the OS may have caused these shut downs that would require me to restart my PSU every time.
  3. I ran all tests, and everything was fine! No shut downs. Is it safe to assume now that it's a Windows 10 issue?
  4. Could it be that I have too many devices connected and the 850 Watt are not enough? What's the best way to test this theory? Thanks
  5. The Windows Event viewer says: "Critical - Kernel Power - Task Category 63 The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." I have a Threadripper 1950X, RTX 2080 TI, 64 GB DDR4, Thermaltake Grand RGB 850W 80+ Gold PSU. I built the system myself.
  6. Hi all. For a while now, my PC/Win 10 will randomly shut off. The power button of my PC won't be responsive, so I have to restart the PSU in order to be able to turn my PC back on. (After the unexpected shut down, my keyboard still has its RGB lights on though) Note: The random shut downs are not during gaming where a lot of power is being drawn, they truly are random even if the PC is just doing simple tasks Could it be a Windows 10 issue? How can I test that my PSU is not the issue? Thanks
  7. Hi guys! This is an HP Pavilion 15-n080el. I'm searching for this little green part which is for the turn-on button. The cable that was attached to this green part got torn away as shown in the picture. Where would I be able to find this turn-on button part (along with the cable attached that connects to the motherboard)?
  8. Hi guys, I hope everybody is doing great! I'm working on building a motorized Product Turntable using my Genie Syrp system, and I'm having trouble finding a simple, round disk that could be attached onto the mounting part (same kind of thread as if you were to put a camera on top of a tripod). Any suggestions where I could find such disk that would have a standard Tripod connection (1/4 or 3/8 inch)? Thanks in advance
  9. I'm assuming SATA is faster than USB 3.0, am I correct?
  10. Hi guys Which one would read/write faster? 11. Hello Linus Tech Tips Community! When I do 4K Screen Capture and use Premiere Pro, Lightroom, or Luminar, my webcam will lag heavily at certain points when the CPU is a bit overloaded. All of these programs rely heavily on the CPU, I am aware of this, and perhaps there is no way to eliminate the lag. I want to believe though that there has to be a way to handle the situation given my decent Computer system. These are my PC specs: AMD Threadripper 1950x 64GB DDR4 Ram RTX 2080 Ti I understand that using the NVENC Nvidia Encoder will tax the GPU instead of the CPU, but I have not been able to find the best quality settings yet, any suggestions? I'm also aware of the differences between CBR and VBR, but which one will put less stress on the CPU? Choosing a lower quality CB-Bitrate, or going with VRB? Image Quality should be at least 8/10. Since I'm not Gaming, 24 fps is what I use. Thank you for any advice in advance!
  12. Software such as Premiere Pro, Lightroom. Whenever I render 8K content, Premiere does suck up a lot of juice, understandably. Going back to my original question, can I have a GTX 970 and a 2080 Ti in the same system and attach two Monitors to each GPU respectively?
  13. If I am rendering 8K content on a 2080 Ti on one 4K Monitor, and then I am running other content through a second Monitor attached to the same GPU, it is not going to affect the performance 'by much'?
  14. I don't want to put more workload onto the 2080 Ti
  15. Hello Linus Tech Tips Community, how is everyone doing! I have a GTX 970 and will receive a 2080 Ti. Can I run two different Monitors, each GPU attached to one Monitor, on Windows 10? I use an Asrock X399 Taichi Motherboard with an AMD Threadripper 1950X. Thank you for your time
  16. Hello Linus Tech Tips Community I recently purchased a BenQ SW271 (Refurbished), and I would appreciate someone with good Monitor experience to advice as to what things I should look out for (other than obvious things like all buttons working etc.). Thank you in advance!
  17. Hello Linus Tech Tips Community I've been struggling to choose and purchase the right Monitor for perhaps two years now? The Monitor should be excellent for a Photographer and Content Creation, and while it doesn't have to be world-class for gaming, it shouldn't be terrible for it. I like to hope that one day I will find time for some gaming again. So I came across the Benq SW271 and several in-depth reviews, and I understand that this Monitor is simply wonderful for Content Creators, and it comes with a price tag of around ~$1100. Now, I also see the BenQ BL2711U, which is less expensive, but I can't find too many detailed reviews on it and how it compares to the SW271 in real world. The specs don't appear to be far off from the SW271. Can anybody enlighten me why one should go with the SW271 over the BL2711U? I'm hoping to find more specific details, like color accuracy, contrast performance, etc. Thank you all <3
  18. Yes, yes, I know!! Pusheen is my idol At a Macy's store near where I live, they had this little book of him as different Dinosaur species, it changed my life I already don't even care about my ATT Galaxy S7 anymore. Can I change my Galaxy S7 to Pusheen version? Does it exist? I hope so
  19. Awwww your profile pic <3 :DD Thanks for your reply btw
  20. Hello So I have a Galaxy S7 Edge from ATT. I got it unlocked and switched my service over to T-Mobile. The phone does still have the ATT firmware on it. What is the easiest way, if there is one, to patch it to T-Mobile? Thanks in advance
  21. I understand, thank you for the info
  22. Hello lovely Linus Tech Tips Community! So, all this time I was running Mac Sierra on VMWare on my old Intel i7 5820k, and it worked smoothly. Now that I upgraded my Desktop to an AMD 16 Core Threadripper, VMWare is giving me a hard time. In other words, I can't get Mac to run anymore on VMWare. Other Forums suggested that it may be the AMD architecture. To be precise, as I boot up the OS on VMWare, it gets to the White Apple logo with black background, but no matter how long I wait, the graph (horizontal line that fills up to the right) that normally loads never shows up, and nothing ever happens. Anybody have success running Mac Sierra on an AMD Threadripper system? Thanks in advance
  23. Let's say my phone is unlocked now. If I go to Asia for instance for the month of November, I can switch my number over to a T-Mobile sim that allows international roaming. When I get back, I switch back to Cricket Wireless, and I can always take my number with me as I switch carriers.
  24. Awesome, thank you! In case you're curious: So, we financed the Galaxy S7 Edge and have a cell phone plan with AT&T. My wife uses the sim card with a different phone, and I use the Galaxy S7 Edge with Cricket Wireless, which runs through AT&T, but it costs less and gives you more for what you pay. I've been extremely pleased with Cricket Wireless, BUT the only downside is that they don't support international roaming. I own a business, and as I was absent in Europe, most of my voice mails, text messages, etc. were lost as I returned, and it affected my business. So I want to be able to switch to a sim card that supports international roaming while I am outside USA/Canada/Mexico. Amen
