  1. Why not get the 2600? I'm building a rig for a friend and I was thinking going Crosshair VII as mobo and a 2600 because it's cheaper than 2700 and at 1440p, the 2 extra cores are not a huge bonus. And with the money saved, in 6+ months you can sell the 2600 with less money loss since it was cheaper from the start and then buy the 3700 or w/e to keep you for a long time. Imho, it's already been have a year since zen+ came out, it's half way thru it's life. Spend less now and buy big in the near future, that's my opinion, might be shitty ofc.
  2. I see... it's what I was afraid of, ruining the "flow" of the AIO if I change fans. Thanks for the rad placement link, I didn't stumble upon that. If the H150i has grey fans, then it's out. Thanks again for the response.
  3. I'm comparing those two because the evga has top performance and it's cheap and the H150i is one of the best 360 with LED for my needs and expensive. Was wondering if it's worth upgrading the cheaper one to the price of the more expensive one. Yeah I read the prices have come down and even researched a bit, but a decent custom is still twice as much as an AIO. I'm not building for me, I'm doing for a friend. I took my AIO as reference because I like it, don't want to upgrade it. Thanks for the input regarding noise.
  4. Greetings. I'm looking to buy an AIO for a build (not mine, for a friend) but I also have random questions because I've been researching my ass off what to buy. I own an Arctic Freezer 240 and I love it. I wanted to go for the 360 for the build, but it doesn't fit. Most likely the case will be H500P Mesh and my plan is to put the AIO exhaust. Unfortunately, I'd like the fans to be LED/RGB to light up the inside also. Here's what's the title all about: Corsair H150i vs EVGA CLC 280. The H150i is 60$ more. A name brand LED/RGB fan is ~20-25$. That means I can get the EVGA cheaper than H150i and with LED, but most of the performance fans are non LED and also considering the prices will be very close, will the improvement justify all of this? Does the H150i have RGB fans? I can't find a definitive answer. I saw a video review of it, but I'm not sure though and there are ML140s non RGB also. I also found the Alphacool Eisbaer and I wanted to go for that since I want to mount the GPU vertical and without liquid cooling (adding it to the Eisbaer circuit) it will heat up way too much (or buy vertical bracket and keep it air), but the cheaper GPX is all black and I can't wrap my head around a vertical GPU that is black..... Another idea if you're still with me: i saw many builds (custom loops) use a pull config as intake so I was thinking of mounting the CLC behind the 200 mm fans of the case. I know 200 are not good for push, but there will be the stock EVGA fans in the pull config and also the 200 are bigger, thus getting air in the case also around the radiator. I can then just put any LED fan in the exhaust and not bother with all of this (thermaltake pure plus?). What do you think? Thanks.
  5. Thank you for the reply. I decided to get the mobo with WiFi incorporated, so I can skip the card altogether. I like the case you mentioned, going to keep it in mind. I also stumbled upon Lian Li Lancool One (although for some reason which i forgot I said I can't use it) and the O11 Dynamic (found a good offer on Air with 3 RGB fans extra, but it's too black...dynamic white is more stylish). I see CM put out the H500 at 100$, but where I can buy it it's 150, so not worth it.
  6. I'm sorry for the confusion, I talk too much. I'm going to buy the 2700 since I found a very good price for it. He said he wants to keep the build for 4 years, but if Ryzen 2 proves to be very good, I'll just tell him to upgrade the CPU. I considered the 9900k but if the price is how it's expected to be + mobo, I'll cut thru the budget like a hot knife thru butter, so I went Ryzen path with a possible CPU upgrade, if it's worth it next year.
  7. I found the Taichi (not Ultimate) 40 euro more than the Killer. A decent TPLink wifi card is 45 euro. I was ordered to go full performance, but I can't spend 300 on a mobo only to change it in 6+ months because reasons. He said he wants to keep the build ~4 years. I'm sure the 2700 will hold that ok, since I'll buy the RTX2080 when it comes, but I'm still a bit afraid on spending that kind of money without being sure it's worth it, even if it's not my money. I'll look into that, thanks. I see you have a nice build in your sig, mind if I PM you for some questions?
  8. I am looking at that right now. I saw there is a WIFI model, but damn the difference between M7 and it is 60 euros... Is that worth even more than M7/Taichi, considering how are those worth over a mid one? I can fit the CS7 in my budget, I'm building for a friend, I just want to know how to explain why his mobo is more expensive than the CPU :))) I saw it, but if I add the wifi card to that I get the Taichi and I assume it's better, correct? Thanks for the reply btw.
  9. Hello. I'm at a crossroad when choosing what Mobo to get for a 2700 build. I was dead set on x470 Aorus Gaming 5 only to find out it's an Ultra Gaming with WiFi. I want that Wifi card, but the price difference is more than a pci wifi card. Then I went and look at Gaming 7, Taichi and M7, all at similar prices, granted 1.6 times more than the Ultra Gaming for example. I've seen reviews where people OC 2700 to 4.3 on Ultra Gaming, so that makes it even harder to pick... I was thinking of buying a top of the line x470 so that when Ryzen 2 comes out next year, I'll still have a very good motherboard(btw M7 has 2 CPU sockets, I haven't met that before nor did I buy the PSU yet to check, I need to plug both sockets for the mobo to work, correct?) The price difference between top of the line and medium is not a big issue, I just want to know if it's worth it to go big. Thanks.
  10. Greetings. I am building a PC for a friend and I'm currently at the case part. I narrowed it down to a few, but I have some questions and I would also like your opinion on the interior design. The PC will use an AIO, I'd like a 360 one, will most likely have the RTX2080 2 fans, unless 3 is at a decent price and I can fit it and would also like to make it vertical, if the case supports it. (I know the heating issues with the vertical GPU, but most tests use the included fans). Design:(? means I'd like input) white case, black-ish or monochromatic mobo, blue and yellow PSU cables, white or blue LED fans(? blue because of the theme or white to make the interior brighter so you can see better inside), white or black RAM with RGB/solo color(? thinking white can go well with the interior of the case and it won't blend with the mobo so much), white LED strips(?RGB might overdo it). Case: Corsair Spec 06 NZXT H500 Phanteks P400 Order of preference: Corsair, Phanteks, NZXT Let's assume all 3 cases are @80$/Euro. I need 3 fans LED so that's @30$/E more (2 for NZXT, but the only thing I like about that case is the simplicity, I like the RGB strip from Corsair a lot). Case will cost 110. I also fioud the CM H500P Mesh at 150$/E. It comes with 2x200 RGB fans and 1 exhaust, so that means no fan buying. 200 fan is @20$/E, so it means the case will be 110. I really like 200 fans and I can also put a 360 as exhaust on the H500P, it also has vertical GPU. Regarding the vertical GPU, one of the issues while testing was the CPU Air cooler. I won't use Air, nor will the AIO be intake, so technically only "cool" air will feed the GPU, thus having lower temps. I won't throttle the GPU for the sake of appearance, but I would like it a lot to make it work. I can't use the CM vertical stand, I need the horizontal PCI lanes for a small WIFI card.(I could try to buy a WIFI mobo, but I will always be restricted to that and usually the price difference exceeds the costs of the wifi card). So basically, is it better to make the light inside blue for the blue/yellow theme or have it pure white and get the components to blend in and have the PSU cables stand out (i'm towards white imho); Is the H500P worth it for my needs or just go Spec 06 and call it a day? If you have other case suggestions that will blow mine out of the water, considering the cost involved ofc (not a 200$ case where I need to buy extra fans and stuff, I'd like to hover ~100-120 area). Thx for the help. Regards.
  11. Hmm so it might make more sense to get a 9900k and an RTX2080 than a 8600k and an RTX2080TI (just an example, trying to put a worse CPU because of the 400$ difference between the RTXs) and in 2 years upgrade the GPU and keep the CPU? When I made the pricing math, I did manage to get the 8700k and the TI, but I could get the non TI and keep the money for a new upgrade in 2 years. I went straight to the TI because idk what kind of racing high end simulators are out there and it'd suck to buy a GPU that won't handle it.
  12. I won't play on the system, I have no idea what else he will play, nor do I know what else will come out in the following years but since I have money to spend, why not get something better so that I won't need to upgrade his GPU soon because the older GPU can't handle?
  13. Currently researching about this, but at the specified prices, it's kinda ridiculous, but since I need to wait for RTX, I'll see what 9xxx is like. He won't play only these 2 games, these are 2 that he told me about. An RX480 can't play 2k or 4k high refresh rate though and if he wants best performance, why not go for the biggest. Labor doesn't concern me if that's what you're referring to. I'm thinking that a GPU will lose more value in time than a CPU, especially if miners would use them also, who will believe you it's untainted. I need to wait a couple of weeks for RTX anyway, will see what Intel delivers, but considering the companies usual prices, I might go out of budget and at 4k, a Ryzen and an i7 should perform the same, no?
  14. Greetings. So as an amateur builder, one of my wishes finally came through. A friend with money wants a high end gaming PC. He wants to play racing simulators(he mentioned a new Asetto Corsa coming?), ARMA and some other stuff and he claimed that this system has to hold him 5 years. I got most of the parts in my head, I just want to ask your opinion on CPU and GPU. Budget is between 2.2k and 2.5k. I know the RTX will be available soon, so I'm definitely going for one of those. The difference between the TI and non TI is 400$ though, but I'm sure the TI will hold much longer and it's cheaper to change the CPU rather than the GPU, correct? As for CPU, normally for gaming the 8700k would be the choice, but the AM4 iirc has more room to grow and also has more c/t in case a simulator in 2 years might require more cpu, maybe he'll get into streaming, who knows. Games will be played on 2k ultrawide 144+ at least, I doubt I can find an ultrawide 4k with some higher refresh for less than a kidney. Waiting for some opinions. Thanks.
  15. I meant to not damage the internals due to heat, I wasn't thinking of literal fire. Yes, I was referring to Gen 2. I am thinking of getting that since it's more future oriented. I'll look into what you said, but sounds kinda overkill. Regardless of how much a laptop will cost, I won't use it that much since I mainly play at home. This was just a workaround because my current laptop is a bit old, but I still use it if needed.
