    Really?

It says that the 8700k is 18% faster in the "AVERAGE GAMING BENCH" not in productivity, not overall.

if you had looked a bit to the left you would have seen this. if you had been arsed to scroll down 5 rows you would have also seen that the 1950x is listed as 35% faster than the 8700k in their productivity benchmark.

da_knug got a reaction from captain_to_fire in WD-Toshiba QLC SSD ready for volume production by end of year.
This is great news for everyone, cheap SSD, they won't be as durable as the 'normal' ssds we have today, but they will greatly make up for that in price, so maybe we can finally say goodbye to the hard drive and go fully solid state.

I recently read a post here on the forum discussing news about WD shouting down one of their HDD factories, this seems to correlate well with their big steps towards QLC flash.

da_knug reacted to Taf the Ghost in TSMC Begins Massproduction Of 7nm chips.
My assumption is AMD has 3 designs for 7nm. Big, Desktop & APU. Big is at TSMC. It's the 12 or 16c design, PCIe 4.0 and maybe some extra execution units. Desktop & APU will be at GloFo, given the more regular demand & just wafer volume needed. Right along with GPUs at GloFo.

No rumors or leaks on the split in the dies designs, just "tea leaves" & logic. 10% Market Share in the x86 Server space would be ~4 billion USD in revenue to AMD. The server market is absolutely massive compared to the GPU space & everything else AMD is involved with, and Intel has a tech disadvantage because of their node troubles. It's the best opportunity AMD is going to have to attack that space. If we don't see Server parts from Intel, on 10nm, until Sapphire Rapids, that's at least 2020.

What does this icon mean? It's been in the statusbar for months now.

da_knug reacted to Drak3 in The current state of the desktop PC market is appalling.
PS/2 requires no drivers, isn't subject to iffy controllers, and doesn't see as much lag as USB can.

A huge aspect to desktops is that they support wired connectivity better. Forcing people to pay more for something that performs worse just because some people use it, across the board, is stupid.
Options for both exist at any rate, and have since at least Haswell.

Market isn't there to support it.

That's a failure on the consumer's part. Systems like mine can draw a good bit of power, and some people care about hitting roughly 50%, as that's the peak efficiency point on most PSUs.

    Again, market isn't there.

That's the opposite of a problem. They're still quite useful for those not as tech literate, and for those that are quite tech literate that see benefit in optical media.

And the rest just sounds like the typical "enthusiast" complaining that most people just don't give a shit about.

Yet all most of these problems can be avoided by a consumer willing to put in a little extra time researching what they want from their purchase.

Why would you waste money on an RGB keyboard, mouse, mouse pad, and a fancy microphone if you're going to just have shit tier hardware? I think the real issue here isn't that you can't afford to buy a better PC, it's that you spend your money on the wrong things. I feel as though anyone other than you should be in a build a fan a PC video0. Also, you bought a GT 1030 without checking if it would fit? You also have no idea how to build a computer obviously, just another reason for it to not be you. And while I'm talking about the GT 1030, wtf do you mean it doesn't fit? It is a PCI-E x16 card, it looks like you got the slot, so how the fuck could it NOT FIT? I'm sorry this post is just so ludicrous I don't even understand how this post could exist.

thanks, m8! one would think one should have learned to reboot when something goes wrong instead of going all doomsday on the internet.

Try dialling back the overclock until it's stable. I would also guess that temperatures are involved too.

It's most probably your wall outlet , it's a grounding issue , your best bet is having it checked out with an electrician who's definitely going to charge you for tearing shit up to clear it out, so be prepped for it ,but first of all do make sure your  extension adapter if you're using any isn't the one causing the problem by replacing that to see if the issue persist. But do it as soon as you can , the issue can cause damage if left unchecked.

(having the same problem myself, can't fix for the moment & it has already damaged my monitor if i'm not mistaken)

Yeah believe it or not a g4560 won't bottle neck anything up to a 580/1060, and since the 1500x is more powerful you should be fine.

I don't believe that the 1070 will be bottlenecked by the 1500X. The only thing I would be iffy about is the CX550. But other than that, the build is solid. I would prefer for at least a gold rated PSU, something like an RMi series from Corsair or an EVGA PSU, but your mileage may vary.
