  1. Nope, after some research it seems that a bug in the bios sometimes cause the the multiplier to lock at 15. THe only work around atm is to flash back to an older version but then nothing above 2133 ram speed works haha. The joys.....
  2. Ye, and now i see others have a similar issue however theirs has literally locked and wont change. I think its a bios issue, so annoying but i suppose until MSI release a fully working bios ill just leave my PC on or use hibernate.
  3. The issue isnt the stability, for some reason it just doesnt load the overclock although when i check the bios its loaded and windows along with all other monitoring tools report that its set yet when i run cinebench the result is pathetic, once i reboot and run again its fine. It just makes no sense, maybe its a bios issue and the problem will be resolved with the next update, i suppose as it maybe that ill be best post on the MSI forum and seeing if others have similar issues.
  4. Hi All, it seems i have a weird issue, i have a stable overclock with my Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.7 GHz with a MSI Pro Carbon X370 using the latest bios 7A32v17. The issue is, when i run cinbench R15 on occasions i will get a score of 480 which suggests that for some reason the Ryzen underclocks to i "think" 1.5GHz, once i restart the machine and run it again without entering into the bios i will then get a score of 1190. This issue is really annoying me as if i dont run cinebench when i load into windows i dont know that its underclocked as windows and all other tools i.e. corsair link, system info cpu-z etc all report 3.7 GHz. Has anyone had similar issues? Does anyone know a fix? Thanks
  5. Thanks guys, I got an EVGA 980 ti SC+, I even got a further discount so I paid £280 and to me it's brand new, plastic protection film still all over it, the evga sticker badge. Thanks for making my mind up
  6. I get that and thats part of my concern, out of 20 review only 1 person got a reference, the rest received MSI, EVGA or Asus. I just dont class myself as lucky, ha!! ill take the risk i think, £30 more for a 980ti compared to £200 more for a 1070. Beggars cant be choosers!!
  7. Arggghh, the reference is no good? To be honest im not really bothered about max setting either, im literally a casual gamer, 1 hour them im done. Warframe is the only one that can have me on for hours but on my current r9 270x it looks fine to me haha.
  8. Ok, thanks 3 replies saying the same thing is conclusive for me. These are the terms of the warranty, i guess im covered. thanks guys We also offer a 24 month warranty* (on all items purchased on or after the 14th Nov 2015) on all items, except consumables (e.g. batteries, projector bulbs etc.) so if your item develops a fault after 30 days through normal use, contact us as soon as possible. In the first instance we will either repair or replace your item, failing that you will be refunded to the original price within the first 6 months of purchase. After 6 months any refund will be to the current sales price or the original price (whichever is the lower). Please note that any repairs done by a third party will void any warranty with CeX.
  9. Its more of a jack of all trades, master of none system if that makes sense, however mainly to aid with my study of networking using virtual machines etc, ill game but im not an avid gamer at all. Id play forza, street fighter, warframe and thats it really. I just dont want to get ripped off lol, i was forced to get the 1060 because of inflation with the miners until i spotted this deal so i just want to make sure a 2 year old card is still worth the risk.
  10. Guys, I have a decision to make, im in the UK and atm the only gtx 1060 available is £270 for the EVGA 6GB, ive found a deal to buy a used gtx 980 ti for £300 but its a complete lottery in terms or what card it will be, could be reference could be MSI etc. The used card will come with 24 months warranty from CEX so my question in which should i go for? Im building a new system, Ryzen 1600 with the nvme's etc and a 1440p monitor, im just caught in 2 minds what to do with the graphics card situation, the miners have really messed up the market. Thanks,
  11. Thanks, so based on both responses does this make most sense? http://www.ebuyer.com/788326-samsung-ku6100-40-curved-smart-uhd-tv-ue40ku6100kxxu This TV is chroma 444 etc etc, my concern is, based on my distance is it WAY too big? 32 inch monitors at 4k seem to be extremely expensive and concidering I don't game much I don't need the super low response time. Thanks
  12. I need some help with figuring out which would provide the most screen real estate, I currently use a 6 year old 28" 1080p hansg monitor, its just ok nothing special but I plan to familiarise myself with Linux in a virtual box as well as use windows 10 so my question is, which setup would be the best option. I don't want to spend above £400 but I'm open to suggestions. Oh and I sit about a 2 feet away from my monitor. Thanks in advance.
  13. Apologies, forgot to mention 4k is for screen real estate more than anything else.
  14. Hi all, it's been a long time since I upgraded my and it's WAY overdue, for some reason or another things have always popped up that have stopped me but the time has now come. I am currently running an i7 920 on an Asus p6t motherboard with wd blue hard drives, the only thing I purchased semi recently was an r9 270x. Im in the UK and want to spend approx £1700, I am studying network engineering so no 3D work, no rendering etc and I do not play many graphic intensive games. I do however want to ensure my build is balances with speed and capabilities for VM's to practice using Linux. So far I have decided on: NZXT s340 elite @ £85 Ryzen 1600 or 1700 @ £220 or & £280 Asus b350 strix @ £115 Samsung 960 evo 250GB nvme @ £120 Crucial mx300 ssd sata @ £80 Toshiba 7200 2TB @ 60 Corsair 2666 ddr4 @ £115 EVGA 650w gq @ £75 GTX 1060 6GB @ £250 Samsung 4K TV 40 inch UE40KU6100 @ £420 My build must last again a good few years admittedly not 8 lol, I am keen to hear any suggestion that may improve or pointers on what can be changed to build a better performing machine, the only thing that I won't change is the TV as 40 inch with chroma 4:4:4 is to good of a deal at that price and options are limited in the UK. Thanks
