Got my Cisco Catalyst 3850 switch with 48 SFP+ ports. Now the real fun begins. :)

@Windows7ge Enough to make a grown man cry. I don't have official numbers because it was a procurement from my company but I'm going to have to ask procurement since they approved my ticket for god knows why hahaha

I'm trying to look it up but all I'm finding are 48 port Ethernet + 4 port SFP+. Where did you find 48 SFP+? I want to see what this things got.

@Windows7ge You're probably only going to be able to find the 10/100/1000 48 Port model. We had to request the network modules be swapped out for SFP+ ones for the installation we're doing. We ordered several of the C3850-NM-4-1G network modules.

It's essentially the 3850, just a different setup. Since you can mix and match with the Catalyst series, it makes things much more interesting for us.

I did see that in the googling so it's a modular system. Not very dense though. To get 48 this is going to take up more than 1U isn't it?

@Windows7ge It's about 2U, and there are going to be 3 as this is what the client wants. Wish I could change their mind because they're going with the wrong system but what do I know /o\

Half your job as a technician is talking customers out of costly & complicated ways of getting something done. I know we do that here on the forum every day.
