MadOverclocker reacted to LukzForEver in Project "Code Red"
1. Drill a hole in the table and hide the keyboard, mouse, monitor wires.
2. Drill a hole near pc aio and connect the wires under the table.
3. Cable manage it under the table.
If you dont want to ruin the table just use some zipties and make it look like a big one wire instead of mess of wires.

It's still a turd PSU...
I'll bet 5 linus smackaroonies that it'll decrease the lifespan or have some problems over the years.

MadOverclocker got a reaction from LienusLateTips in Moving Question
Not really. My Heatsink broke and it was stored separately. The PSU can stay tho, like the motherboard. But fans can stay tbh.

Let's just say I've been through both HDD and GPU failure while travelling.

MadOverclocker reacted to genexis_x in Convince me I don't need a XPS 15
You can choose not to get XPS 15 because it's expensive. Yoga 720 15 is a good alternative for the less price.

You don't need it because it isn't food, water, or shelter.

Well that's a dickmove, tbh not something new in apple.

MadOverclocker reacted to Ace McPlane in Something we should mention about overclocking.
I've seen a thousand guides on overclocking and I don't ever see them mention this:
After you're done stress testing and you think your overclock is stable,
you should monitor your reliability history for about week.
Why? because if you're getting errors like unexpected shutdown errors in there, it's because your overclock doesn't have enough voltage.
You can pass 24 hour stress tests that won't pick this up so it's a good last step.
This is a common issue I see while troubleshooting for people so I think it's something that we should add to our advice about overclocking

Yes that evil Louis Rossmann is a very powerful lobbyist capable of outbidding fucking Apple and Microsoft apparently.

MadOverclocker reacted to kerradeph in Is it possible to make fams idle at 0rpm?
I basically do that with my setup. I turn off all the case fans and just leave the pair of radiator fans running at about 350RPM (that's the lowest they'll reliably run at). Quiet enough to barely be heard and keeps it cool even under light load.

MadOverclocker reacted to DrMacintosh in California to introduce The Right to Repair Act forcing companies to allow consumers to repair tech (and non tech) products
7 years seems pretty excessive. And I personally am not the biggest fan of telling companies what they can and cannot do to a certain extent.
Being able to fix your devices was never the problem, the problem was that third party shops want an easy way to stay in business so the bill got lobbied and spun to make it seem like this was really a consumer protection issue.
While it technically is a consumer protection issue, it was never going to be illegal to service something you own, because you know, it’s your property.
Its great that the bill is being introduced and it’s probably a good thing, but just know it wasn’t started by average joes. It was started by people like Louis Rossmann (who is a great guy) wanting to protect their livelyhood from companies that don’t want their parts floating around everywhere.
I would not put it past these companies to inflate the value of their parts if the bill does pass as to keep shops from abusing it.

Sadly, it will not. But smarter people will go the Repair themselves.

MadOverclocker got a reaction from Donny_Chen in Is it possible to make fams idle at 0rpm?
You can with speedfan but that is a not-so smart idea. I would prefer 50-150RPM rather than 0RPM.
