I do subtitles for YT Vids. My biggest peeve is when people (in comedy shorts) chance the pronunciation of (or mispronounce) names throughout a video.

Ex Bjorn changing to Beorn (Bee-ohrn), Finner Changing to Thinner. Usually, Spijet to Spigot. I usually just go with whatever  they use the most often, but it confuses me nonetheless.

Do you get paid to do this?

If you do it for a payroll i suggest getting the names from your superior.

Because if the wording of phrases is a little different, that is fine,

but if the name of the person is wrong, you are gonna have a bad time, especially if the person finds out about it personally.

@imreloadin Nope. I just try helping out some channels where people will use them - specifically when people have requested subtitles (either because they're deaf,  the commentary is too fast for non-natives, or pronunciation is poor.)

Every minute of content takes between 7 and 20 minutes to make good subtitles for, so I focus on shorter popular videos where I know they'll be used.
