  1. Sorry for the late reply, it was well into the night where I live. I know I need a new motherboard for the ryzen, I am planning on buying this ASUS X570 motherboard for it, but what I wanted to know if i can mount it in my current setup with my current motherboard + cpu combo (asus m5a97 plus + AMD fx 8350). Sorry if I didn't express myself all that well.
  2. I did link the motherboard in my original post, the asus m5a97 plus. That's the board i currently have with an AMD fx 8350 on it.
  3. Also just as a sidenote, would this case from fractal design be fine? I want to mount the radiator as an intake on the front but i'm worried it'll be too far away from the cpu socket. Thank you very much
  4. Woah, 2.6k posts, you're famous. I considered the 3950x mainly for work, i'm a web developer and can constantly find myself running way too many apps and chrome tabs at the same time. Mainly Visual Studio, vs code, node and other server stuff. You're saying there's a pump header on the motherboard, where did you see that? and does it need some specific voltage of sorts?
  5. Hi fellas, I've recently started planning a new pc build. I'm pretty sure so far that i'm going for a ryzen 9 3950x for the cpu. I found a cooler for it that's recommended by AMD, namely this one from DEEPCOOL. My actual question is, if i buy the cooler first, will it work on my current setup? And if it does, where do i put the two fan headers and the pump one? I currently have an AMD FX 8350, my motherboard is an ASUS M5A97 Plus. I have a 750 watt seasonic focus, if it matters. I've never even seen a water cooler apart from those in ltt videos and the like. Thank you for reading
  6. The nVidia wesbite says it's 175 watts. Thank you both for your replies, I'll check prices on the two power supplies you recommended and finally get an upgrade.
  7. Okay but last question, would 550 Watts be enough for the 2060 super? As far as I understood, it needs a specfic amount of amps on the PCIe lanes so it doesn't go underpowered. And would the 3900x be okay with 550? Thank you both for your imput.
  8. 550 watts is enough for the whole upgraded rig? Then why does everybody overkill their power supply wattages? the 5700xt is a bit more expensive than the 2060 super where I live, sadly. Would a 3900x be a big upgrade over the 3700x? I only chose the 3800x because it said "multi-threaded performance", which I need for work.
  9. Hello, first post in a long while. I am planning an upgrade for my rig (Since we all need to work from home) and the internet is pretty confusing on this. (My current build was done by a friend, I don't really know much) Here's the setup: Processor: AMD FX-8350 (not overclocked) Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 plus GPU: ASUS STRIX GTX 950 2gb RAM: 1x 8 gb ddr3 1866 mhz Power Supply: InterTech Energon 650 Watts Hard Drive: 1tb WD blue 7.2k rpm Over the next couple of months I am planning a few upgrades. The first one, that I want to buy now is a new video card, namely an MSI RTX 2060 super gaming x. I've been told that the power supply is bad and I need to replace it with something decent. I will also upgrade to (most probably) a ryzen 7 3800x, 16 gb ram, and and PCIe SSD (m.2) Could anyone point me to a good (modular, if possible) power supply for this? A power supply calculator online tells me I need a 426 watt power supply for my current setup and a 474 watt power supply for my fully upgraded rig. Both of these values seem really low to me so I don't really trust it. Since I'm both gaming and working from home the pc will run at least 8 hours a day.
  10. Hello friendly forums. So, out of the blue, my keyboard stopped working. I tried different keyboards and different usb ports and nothing worked. However, mice and other usb devices work as expected. This also applies to entering bios, which i am unable to, so i figured the windows has nothing to do with it. For reference, the motherboard is an asrock 960gm . Both the keyboards i tried are default plug and play with no additional drivers required. Is this a motherboard failure? Is it a funny bios issue? And how do i get into and operate into bios if the keyboard does not work?
  11. And how would i go about putting the drivers on the machine? Can i install them during windows installation? I heard it's possible, if you know it to be, can i get a link or guidance?
  12. Hey, LTT. I have come to you for help as i can not see a reason behind this. I recently bought a Lenovo Legion Y520 off of a local shop, with an i5-7300hq and a gtx 1050 . I tried installing windows 7 on it, and did succeed. However, after installation, the usb ports would not work (i installed windows off of a usb port), and the usb hub would not be shown in device manager. Now, windows 10 works brilliantly, and lenovo only has drivers for windows 10 on their site. Is that it? Can i make windows 7 work on it? Will the w10 drivers work for 7? Is this intentionate so that you move on to newer drivers or just a consequence of windows 7's age? And why did the usb ports not work after a fresh install of windows 7? Did the drivers on the installer not work? Can it be something else? They do work with the windows 10.
  13. Woah, thanks for the responses guys. Tho you got me worried on the PSU thing. Will attend to this asap, thank you all !
  14. Okay, thanks for the quick response. One last question and then i'm gone, is that 87c legit? I mean, that's a huge temperature. Should i be worried? @samcool55 the case has the power supply mounted on the bottom of the pc, that's what worries me. And it is sitting on a carpet.
  15. So, what you guys are saying, that the problem with the shut downs is the power supply. Can i help the temps in ways other than to buy a after market cooling for the cpu? Also, should i put it on the ground or on the desk? I know it's called a desktop, but still.
  16. Hi, LTT. So, around 1 year ago i built this computer with all new parts, purely for gaming. With am AMD FX-8350, compatible motherboard and an AMD RADEON R7 370. It all worked fine until very recently. The computer shuts down, as in it's not responsive, and the screen is black. But you can still hear the computer running and the only way to stop it is by going behind and interrupting power from the power supply. HW Monitor reports temperatures of over 80 degrees on the FX while gaming, could that be a problem? The power supply is an Inter Tech Energon 650w power supply, which is supposed to be enough. Please inform me if you need any more info about anything. I have attached a print screen of HW Monitor while playing Dragon Age Inquisition.
  17. Would that also stop the ip from changing? Because, and i have only noticed this recently, my ip is different every time i boot up the pc. Can't i just use the theoretical new router without this ONT? Simply plug the cable into the router and another one into the pc, i mean.
  18. So i can only solve this by talking to the ISP? They're asses, big time. But hey, thanks for clearing out. I will wikipedia everything, to fully understand all the acronyms you guys threw at me. Thanks, everyone !
  19. Well, thanks, i'm feeling better right now.
  20. Well, guess what, it actually is complicated. This is the make and model. Huawei EchoLife HG865 it says on it. I can't take a picture, literally no camera for that. And yes, it is brought by the ISP, i didn't buy it myself.
  21. Um, i don't know if it's called a router or a modem, but the internet cable coming from my window goes into this box, and then into my pc. Linus doesn't have a video on the difference sadly What could someone do by knowing my ip? (offtopic)
  22. So, in more user friendly terms, to get into my router, i should just open chrome and connect to http://79.119.120.217/ or http://79.119.120.215/ ?
  23. Hello, forums. I've ran into a bit of trouble lately. I've been trying to reach my router's settings, by typing the default gateway ip into a browser. However, typing into cmd ipconfig resulted in the attached image file, a print screen of the command prompt. As you can see, for Lan, the default gateway field is empty. Why is this? I haven't found any info in the documentation of the router, which i've found here. Thanks in advance, and i hope it's not something complicated.
  24. To an original windows 10? I don't think the 8.1 installed on it currently is original, in fact i think it's as unoriginal as possible. It's acting truly weird.
  25. That is exactly what i mean, however, being an old laptop, the key on the back is completely unreadable. This is why i'm here, is there any other way?
