  1. I'm going to order a gtx 1060 mini 3gb and corsair cx550m for Christmas. I'm putting both in a optiplex 390, and whatever graphics card I get I'm going to plug directly into the power supply. Will this https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16817139147 work with this https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Compact-Graphics-ZT-P10610A-10L/dp/B01KKJAJM4/ref=sr_1_12?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1513093354&sr=1-12&keywords=gtx+1060+3gb and this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KUADE3O/ref=twister_B01JA2DCKS?_encoding=UTF8&th=1? I'm not sure which of those GPUs I'm going to get yet but it will be one of those two. I just want to know if I can plug either of those GPUs into that PSU. Thanks!
  2. I didn't realize how small that prebuilt is. I'll keep looking and reply to this post with whatever else I find.
  3. I understand that I'd need a better power supply, so suggestions on that would be appreciated. I know I also need a monitor, but I can take care of that myself. So I'll get a better psu, but with the addition of a 1060 3gb and a power supply, would that system perform well at high settings at 60-90fps?
  4. @seon123 $250 or less for the computer (I'd like to get a prebuilt so I can just put in the power supply and graphics card and go). $200-250 for the graphics card, and $40 for the power supply. I don't plan on getting a pc really soon, but if I do get one, it'd be by or for Christmas.
  5. So my school has given all students an 11'' macbook air and this is the 3rd year mine has been in use, and mine is working ok for the most part, but it'll randomly freeze. It's pretty bad sometimes, I'll have to wait a couple minutes for it to unfreeze, and I can tolerate it while I'm at school, but when I get home I don't want to be dealing with it. I got a PS4 in March, and while it is fun to play, I've been thinking about getting a solid pre-built machine to serve as not only a computer for doing schoolwork, but also to be an introduction to pc gaming. I don't know that much, but from the cpu userbenchmark website, I've narrowed my search down to what seems to be a solid candidate, the i5 4690. I want a desktop since I'll be getting a laptop for college next summer. I found this computer https://www.cnet.com/products/hp-prodesk-400-g1-micro-tower-core-i5-4690-3-5-ghz-8-gb-1-tb/specs/ on ebay, and I'd like to know if it is a worthy candidate for what I'd be playing. I mostly play battlefield 1, and I figure that if it can handle a game like that, it would probably be able to handle most any game I play on it, for the most part at least. Now, I understand that the computer doesn't come with a graphics card, but I'd like some recommendations that wouldn't break the bank that would keep me above 60 fps (60-90fps range) in 1080p. At least high settings is what I'd really like. I don't have any interest in playing above 1080p. I'd like to stay in the 60-90fps, but I don't want to spend a boat load of money on a graphics card. I'm thinking $200-$250 would be reasonable. Would a gtx 1060 3gb oc be suitable? It seems to be in my price range, and I can wait until I can find a good deal. Also, I believe I would need a better power supply unit, and I don't think those are terribly expensive, so maybe $30-40 on that, but again I don't know a ton about this stuff. I want this computer to last for at lest a couple years. I've heard about future proofing, but for what I'd like to do, I think this will be fine. That is a prebuilt computer, so if it is sold before I buy it I'll just wait for another one. I have a headset, mic, and a mouse and keyboard that are good enough, but if there is anything else I need, let me know.
  6. @ARikozuM Can I burn the ISO to a USB from a Mac? The computer that I can't get into is the only PC my family has.
  7. I found a computer sitting in my relative's closet that they knew nothing about. I hooked it up to a monitor and plugged it in and it works fine, but there is a password and they don't know what it is. They said it's been sitting in the closet for probably 3 years. They didn't even know they had it, but they told me to take it and use it. There is a Windows 7 Home Premium sticker with the product key on it. My question is, if I buy a Windows 7 Home Premium disc off Ebay can I just put it in the computer and will it prompt me to install it and reset the computer? Also, how can I figure out if the computer is 32 or 64 bit? So, to sum this up, I don't know the computer password, can I buy a Windows 7 Home Premium disc off Ebay and how would I go about installing it? Thanks so much.
