Just curious, what mode do you use normally? I tend to use sRGB often because the other game modes are bright af [putting color accuracies offside].

Edit: oops. sorry, just saw the purchase quote so i retract all my statements. Hope you enjoy it. I love mine <3

Nutshell, I like the PG279Q. personally hard for me to find a PG278Q. but TN is also a dealbreaker due to color shifting. IPS is the way to go, not a fan of having two monitors due to my desk size. So i prefer an all in one package and the PG279Q is better. Paired with 1080Ti and it seems just to work easily for me. Not always hitting 144-165Hz on most AAA games but I guess G-sync helps offset the low fps in points of time.

Even though you have a 980, GSYNC will benefit you. so you get that smooth gaming experience.

The backlight bleed is minor, you have to be staring at a black screen 95% of the time or majority to even notice it's there. That being said LCD panels suck for contrast due to the backlight panel and the way it operates [OLED is the way to go in the future]

definitely nothing to do with gpu tweak is what i'm saying. uninstalling it won't make any difference.

also cut the word jerk out it makes you look more of a lesser ;-)

I would DDU in safe mode to reinstall the drivers and or GeforceExperience fresh new, and get rid of all the Asus tweak program and go with MSi Afterburner instead.

Another major thing is get either Heaven or SuperPosition and not use FurMark.

Vague? Asking you to confirm that it’s not a glitch in the software that controls the gpu speed is vague? Ok, have fun with your 1080ti, jerk.

yes and no. yes if you play solitaire...no if you want to play PUBG in ultra settings and trying to reach 60 fps. we need more info like the games you want to play and what's your FPS target. Also, you could add the other specs of the PC. The PSU is quite important so that you know if it will handle a GTX 1060.

After a quick search, I don't think it will fit. The only Lenovo v520 tower I've seen comes in a small form factor. That's why you have a GTX 1030 in it. I would guess a GTX 1050 Ti Low Profile will fit but not sure if powerful enough for the games you want to play. Also the PSU inside might not be able to power a GTX 1060 if it fits.

rx580 is comparable to a 1060 6gb benchmark to benchmark ... you could, possibly go 1070 but noway near a 1080 or 1070ti with 450usd. unless you get relatively lucky to find one but with current shortages i don't think the msrp would apply in most cases.

also cpu wise, a i7 8700 should suffice unless you really need ultra high frame rates, then only a 8700k would edge it on 1080p, i rarely overclocked my 7700k because gpu becomes a bottleneck even at 1440p high frame rate gaming.

    1. You have Freesync now. Turn it OFF, and play again. Can YOU sacrafice it? YOU are the only person in this Thread, who can answer this Question.
Because if you ask me personally: Freesync / G-Sync > Everything. Literaly everything. This is the reason, my Games are smooth. Without it, e ven with 144 Hz, my games can NOT be smooth. There will always be a few small tearings, or stutterings or whatever. Even the slightest little bit, that would bother me. G-Sync on, and perfectly smooth.
Now back to you: Turn it off, and see for yourself.
But i can tell you: Having Variable Refresh Rate gives you much smoother feel, than 10-20% higher fps.

    2. Has nothing much to do with it. Reference Vega is Garbage +1. Period. Doesn't matter if you have a small Air cooler on your CPU, an AiO Kraken, or a 500€ high end custom loop. Reference is still garbage, and will be really loud.
If you want Vega, wait for Customs. I would never recommend a reference to anyone, no matter what. Except someone wants to replace the shitty Cooler with something good ^^"
In short: No matter what CPU Cooler you have, Vega Reference WILL be loud.

    3. No. Never. Even if you only get 80-100 fps, you benefit from 144 Hz. Faster refreshes, lower input Lag etc.
However, if your fps is lower than 144, but you DO have freesync active (no stuttering / tearing, but fluctuating frametimes), it's valid to use riva tuner statistics server to limit your fps. lets say to 90, so you have always perfectly consistent 90 fps, instead of fps jumping between 95-130 up and down.

Having Freesync makes it completely unneeded to lower your Refresh rate. It lowers itself, that's what Freesync does.

When can we expect 4K 144Hz monitors to be out? I remember reading something saying they'll be here soon (TM) a few years ago. Just curious as to when they'll be here.

    Bonus points if they're 21:9.

In australia i know if the phone isnt over 1000aud in value u wont get extra duties. Not sure how other countries do this.

but you can request them to declare the actual value on the gift pack so u avoid hassles later on... i know amazon usa fid this when i order a gtx 1080 ti from there to here in Aus and didnt get charged cos <1000aud value. What u see is what u pay for

also with android overall its better to have more ram. iphone doesnt need so much altho a few speed tests has a bit of eyebrow raising when they pitted the iPhone x vs note 8 & note 8 ecking a win... but the iPhone 8 plus seemed to do fine(?) weird

That being said the pg279q is amazing. I love that monitor to death and it wont be changing anytime sooner... Considering hdr might hurt my eyes abit its a welcomed change.

i will also consider it futureproofing to the extent that my setup will follow also for a long time. imo the 1080ti is the only card you should pair with this monitor... given he had change for two nice monitors im sure the 1080ti is better off for him in the wrong one

i would be pissed if he handicapped himself with a 1070 or 1080 just to save a bit and lose some performance because the 1080ti is freaking amazing at 1440p, imo the SWEET SPOT now afaik... especially if he wants high framerate gaming.. theres no other option.

Not sure why everyone is saying that you need to delid. I'm using a $45 air cooler and getting 4.9Ghz with 1.31 volts. (going a bit overboard on voltage for increased RAM speed) I could do 1.35vcore for 5Ghz, but it wasn't worth it for the increased heat. That being said, if you tune more than just the vcore, you can get fantastic performance at a very low temp on the 7700k. Follow this little guide, should free up a good 15-20c

core for core clock for clock is irrelevant because nobody will ever down clock their CPU or disable cores in real life. why would you kill performance you bought. so it's an irrelevant stupid comparisson.

They don't want you buying intel, they want you to get the "better deal" with the Ryzen 5 1600, or 1700.

I'd ignore them and go for the i7-8700k if I had the cash, if not, I'd go with AMD's platform, because they are offering compatibility with 7nm processors, and that's something intel can't boast.

So if you go with AMD, spend the extra cash on a good motherboard, and ram kit, rather than a better processor, just get the R5 1600, or R5 1400 if need be, and then upgrade later.

But back to what I was saying earlier, Coffee Lake is slightly ahead of Kaby Lake, which is way ahead of Haswell, and Ryzen is about equal to Haswell.
(i7-4790k @4.2ghz = R5 1500x @4ghz) <- Any worse performance seen in games is made up for by it's gains in productivity vs haswell, and ram speeds help bring that performance back up.)

The truth is you dont upgrade your freaking processor every year or two its not wise financially in the long run. These stuff are made to last long like at least a solid 5 years. Manage to last with a i5 3550 for 6 years or less before i decided to go with a 7700k. So idk why people are thinking about this “support”.
