  1. Just a thought, but why doesn't LTT release Mark Bench to the general public (as a downloadable folder with the project file and all content needed) so we as the community could benchmark our own hardware. I understand if it has some video content that is sensitive but I don't see why that would be the case. Just an idea as I'd love to see how my device compares to other devices
  2. It is slower in more demanding things. Think I figured it out though. Reading around and in Nvidia control panel all my gpu dependent programs had a 40fps cap that wasn't a global option. Kinda strange but it works now
  3. Launching as standalone. Another example, is cinebench r15. If on wall power, it maxes out at 40fps, even though while on battery the 1650 is easily able to hit 80-100fps
  4. Yep still not working. Curious thing is that if it is like a pre-rendered loading screen (an example is the Nvidia loading screen that plays prior to a game) that is uncapped and plays at 60fps or whatever frame rate the video is at. However the moment it gets into a game, 40fps lock. Happens in all games regardless of VSync as well
  5. Not necessarily slower, as when i unplug from the wall it drops by about 5-10fps. The issue is that any game, and any benchmark will not go above 40fps regardless of wall power or battery power
  6. Hey everyone. Just picked up a Razer Blade Stealth 1650 (non TI) and I have run into this strange issue. Whenever I play any games, or anything involving the gpu really on wall power, my fps gets capped at 40fps. Disabled all geforce experience options, reset nvidia control panel, tried both internal and external monitor, different power modes, nothing seems to work. Any help would be great
  7. So my XPS 15 9550 has been a champ, perfect for my workflow. But its got a really annoying issue. When i close the lid, it goes to sleep like normal. But when i open the lid, the screen does not turn on for like 5 seconds then it puts me on the log in screen. This can be fixed by setting the lid closing to do nothing but then when i close it anything that's going on in the background still drains battery, so i won't do that. I've done a full windows reset and a clean install, and if i boot up linux off an external drive the screen turns on right when the display is open, so it appears to be a windows issue not hardware. I've also tried the XPS 15 9560 and 9570 and stores and the screens on those devices turn on immediatley when the lid is opened. This is really annoying as this is a premium device and my brothers chromebook and my friend macbook while they have worse specs feel faster because of this. My specs are the i5-6300hq, 16gb ram, 256gb ssd, 960m, 4k panel. Thanks in advance.
  8. So i have an XPS 15 9550, and i love this thing. It does exactly what i need it to do for my work flow, however, it has one small issue. Whenever i boot the laptop up from a full shutdown or even if i resume from sleep, all the windows i had open are closed and it opens with a command prompt flashing on screen for like half a second. After this the file explorer opens by itself. I've tried a full reset of Windows, and even a clean install and even thought the issue disappeared for around a day, it returned nearly immediately. To be clear i haven't always had this problem, it just started recently.
  9. No this charger is fine for my laptop, besides no dell charger can charge the xps 15 through type c
  10. Hey guys. So here's my issue. My XPS 15 9550 (i5, 8gb, 256gb, 4k, 960m) is an awesome laptop and i love it. Whenever i am at home, i have it on the charger almost the entire time, unless im working around the house. Because i hate taking the bulky charger with me to class everyday (sometimes ill do some video editing and photoshop work between class's), i decided to buy an 87w macbook pro charger. That way i could always leave that in my bag and also use it to charge my OG pixel. However, whenever i run the laptop while charging off of the type c port, CPU performance tanks. It drops to nearly half of what it should be at. When the laptop is off the charger, the cpu runs fine. But when i charge it through the type c port, it gets halved, which seems kinda ironic. Any ideas? Also, it runs perfectly fine off the regular charger and I have the latest BIOS and haven't changed any bios settings and i have high performance selected when the CPU performance tanks.
  11. As the title suggests, is there anyway to limit the performance of a GPU. The reason i would like to do this is mainly heat. The GPU in question is a 960m, inside of an XPS 15. When i'm gaming, the GPU hits a peak of 91C. While this is still acceptable and technically will be okay for the GPU, its still very nerve racking having the GPU hit that temp. When i unplug the battery, with Nvidia battery boost enabled, the temps drop to a more comfortable 75C. Sure i lose around 5 FPS but i think this is a worthy trade off. However, this only happens when on battery, and i always game at my desk. I was wondering if there was a way to mimic the functionality of battery boost when i'm not running off battery. And before you comment saying "You will lose FPS not worth it", I know this and am willing to make the trade off for lower thermals.
  12. Why don't manufacturers put a single usb port inside laptops? For example, the XPS linup (not the new ones) have a flap on the bottom with FCC stickers and all. Why not put a usb port in there. This would be perfect for like wireless mouse with a usb dongle, which you could leave in the laptop forever unless you needed to really remove it. Just an idea i had.
  13. See the thing is mine doesn't throttle. It gets pegged at 90C, max memory and core clock, and max usage
