The concern isn't necessarily about if Microsoft looks at the data, but more about what they do with it. Microsoft was one of the first companies to join the PRISM program, and the people that are against PRISM are the people that are against this. The thing that scares us is just the lack of privacy and the future implications of companies/the Government having this data. I don't want this to turn into a debate on privacy and the NSA, I just want it to be clear where the concern is coming from.

Also, there could be nothing to worry about. However, considering the NSA revelations, especially PRISM, I think this being an issue is very plausible.

Having a VM with GPU passthrough means you can run both Windows and Linux at the same time. A Linux distro would be the host OS and you would run Windows in a virtual machine (no dual-booting). The tutorial would tell you how to pass through your GPU to the Windows guest so you can play all your favorite games in the virtual machine. Then I would go into detail on how to optimize the machine and get the most out of it.

If you think you'd be interested in this tutorial let me know and if there's enough people interested I'll get started on it. I just don't want to create a tutorial for something no one is interested in.

Those numbers are a bit out of context. Those are compared to Windows Server, which will obviously have more overhead. It would be interesting to see how it compares to Linux counterparts, but we probably won't see that until it is officially released.

They use the same heatsink design, so it will be fine. Keep an eye on the temps though, if they get past say 80C, I'd recommend an aftermarket cooler.

No they are on holiday for Chinese new year. Might have to use something else for the time being. I need to buy some for my HTPC anyway so might try and find a good deal on some Ripjaws. If I see some white ADATA or HyperX on sale I might just go with those.

monopolyman got a reaction from elfensky in Xbox One games on PC may be possible after discovery from leaked SDK
The Xbox One SDK has recently been leaked, allowing modders to look through the SDK and do some reverse engineering. Of course, I'm sure most of you couldn't care less about this. However, there is a recent discovery that may be of interest to PC Gamers.

It looks like running the Xbox OS on Windows is a possibility, and it's also likely moutning games will also be possible. Nothing is confirmed yet, but some highly regarded modders have made huge discoveries hinting towards the possibility of XBone games on Windows. Of course, there is probably much more to getting a game fully working, but this is definitely an interesting step.

Maybe people bitching about the later Halo games not being on PC will shut the fuck up now and emulate them. I'd like that.

This thread is about a hacker in Se7ensins forum, Chr0m3 ( or some other haxor writing) stating that he found XVD file and how it can change the work towards an emulator.

So while both threads mention the SDK leagage, whereas the other thread states that it is leaked and might help at creating an emulator, this topic is all about the emulator in details

monopolyman reacted to Jack H in Amplifier for AKG K7XX (Massdrop)?
I'm looking for the same thing. I'm not sure how big of a difference it will make, but a review I read (http://www.head-fi.org/t/743280/new-release-the-k7xx-massdrop-first-edition-an-exclusive-from-massdrop-and-akg) said they don't sound as good without an amp. I was thinking the Fiio e10 off ebay, it's very good for the price, and it is an amp as well as a dac. I know you only wanted an amp, but the e10 does as well as the JDS Labs cmoy and is cheaper on ebay. The newer version, the e10k, is $75 on amazon, and isn't a huge improvement over the e10. I think I'll probably end up going with it.

I honestly didn't think it was that bad of an idea. If they made more than two, it could get pro teams good publicity (and they certainly need it after all that's happened) and in the process they would be donating blood. Like the OP said, this was not going to be mass produced, so it's not meant to be a interesting controller for the everday (or even hardcore) gamer.

    It is against the CoC.

Section "4.2: Advertisement" of the LTT CoC states:
"Any sort of advertisement on Linus Tech Tips that has little or no relation to Linus Media Group, or is not affiliated with Linus Media Group in any way will be considered spam and removed from the boards. This also pertains to signatures and/or profile information.

This includes but is not limited to doing a giveaway on the forums while linking/referring to outside accounts(Youtube, FB, etc.) in any way shape or form.

In addition to advertising, you may not sell any item via the forums other then through the Classifieds section nor advertise links to third party personal sale sites (EBay, Kijiji, etc.) where you might be selling your item.

Links in the Hot Deals section to items being sold directly by the manufacturer or distributor, such as Razor, Dell, Amazon, Best Buy, etc., are allowed, but only in this section."

Swap out the source link with the CNET link and no issues will be had.

"Internet Hispters" Does set a pretty negative tone. Something more like "The Ad free social network with a focus on privacy". The fact that you're targeting it at a given group is biased and non-objective in itself.
I think being invite only is not going to work that well, but apart from that it's always nice to see people having some balls to create what they want when no-one else will.
