  1. you probably dont need a 1000w power supply, you could probably get away with around 650w and get an even better efficiency rating for the same price as the 1000w or get a gold for cheaper, other than that if youre happy with the cost it looks solid, im not super familiar with intel's line up at the moment, could get away with 16gb of ram if you wanted to save some money as its an easy upgrade down the line.
  2. Yea it was a really fun challenge, much more satisfying than atx, however I did cut one of my fan wires in half thinking it was a ziptie
  3. damn, I only switched to the nr200 (non-p) a few weeks ago, that was only about £70 on amazon with prime, seems the nr200p is a bit harder to get
  4. You might have just got lucky, I had a similar experience where i didnt place my cpu in the slot completely correct and closed the clamp on it which broke a pin, if the cpu's pins look fine and everything works after some stress tests, should be fine, just keep an eye out
  5. you would need a 4k display to see 4k, if your display only goes up to 1080p then 1080p is all you can see, 240hz is the refresh rate and has nothing to do with how to resolution is displayed, just how fast it refreshes, making it seem 'smoother'
  6. Ive currently got an itx x570 auros pro wifi, i was going to go for the b550, only reason i didnt was pcie gen 4 comparison, ive always used gigabyte boards and Ive never had any issues that werent my own fault.
  7. Can anyone point me to a laptop that would be good for work, doesnt have to be able to play any games but ive currently got a hp stream 14in and its so painfully slow at everything, im not very familiar with laptops, I dont want to break the bank on it so i'd say my budget is £300? not sure if that can get what Im looking for, but just to clarify, it just needs to be able to load its own operating system, some microsoft programs and some youtube without taking 2 hours per buffer. Suggestions appreciated!
  8. Good to hear mate! Good catch on the prices
  9. got mine for £800 back in december off a site called dinopc
  10. just have a look on youtube, its really easy from what i remember
  11. couldnt do rtx but i had a 1660 ti and played minecraft quite a bit with that with shaders
  12. A 2060 could do rtx, you could still get a 1000 series and just get some shaders for minecraft, basically the same thing
  13. Obviously a good point, still better to be researching into that area (gold) of psu's than the cheapest ones he can find to try and bring cost down, but you are definitely right dont buy a psu blindly just from its efficiency rating
