Google "Logitech mouse doubleclick" and see how great Logitech is doing with this. Some people actually claim Logitech mice are more susceptible to it because of the amount of voltage Logitech uses or something, but I am highly skeptical.

I personally use a Kone Pro Air and couldn't be more satisfied with it, Roccat is a highly underrated peripheral brand.

B1scu1T reacted to YoungBlade in Seagate Exos Drives For Long Term Storage?
The main benefits of NAS drives are that they are designed to be used in enclosures with other drives, their firmware is usually designed to work well with RAID, and they have better warranties. Hard drives vibrate as they spin and those vibrations can disrupt the operation of other drives, so NAS drives are better designed to handle those vibrations. Because NAS drives tend to be used with RAID, the firmware on the drives is designed to optimize things like writing parity data. They also typically come with longer and higher quality warranties. For example, Seagate's IronWolf Pro drives include a data recovery service with the warranty.

As far as storing hard drives is concerned, there shouldn't be any reason why Exos drives can't store data when turned off. A hard drive is made up of platters that store data via magnetism. This requires no power to work, and simply giving the drive power doesn't actually help keep the data on there. Bit rot - the process by which the bits slowly lose their magnetic charge over time - will happen as long as the data on the drive has not actually been re-written. However, this process takes many years - as in 8+ years - so this shouldn't be much of a concern. SSDs, on the other hand, should be powered on a few times a year, as their storage method does require power to keep working.

After trying logitech, Corsair, Steelseries and cooler master I’ve settled with Razer. The viper ultimate to be exact and it’s been solid for me, dunno what people have against the software, honestly it’s the best one I’ve used for a peripheral. Also have one of their keyboards now which I’ve had for around a year which is also solid. Durability is fine has no issues and they use optical switches which are miles better then the Omerons in most other mice.

Yeah cost is the only thing stopping me right now, I'm waiting for a sale to pick one up. They often drop down near the $50 CAD mark.

I have issues with trackballs. The ones I used when I was kid in public school were on the old Icon Unisys interfaces and I think I still have nightmares about them.

Why not get an MX518 again? They've remade them with the Hero sensor and they are widely available now. I'm probably going to be switching back to one soon as they were one of the only mice I've ever used that didn't cause my hands to go numb and I think I've tried almost every high performance mouse I can find over the last few years.

I've tried vertical mice too and neat concept but I can't get used to aiming with one. Plus my hands still go numb, so. Damn you carpal tunnel.

As for Razer products I have been using them since the Boomslang and never had issues with them. The only Razer mouse I ever had fail on me was a Lachesis many years ago. I've had Deathadders up the wazoo and they last for years, long enough that I can cycle them through family members. Razer software isn't great but it's getting better.

Which is a shame, as the Basilik 3 really does tick a lot of boxes on paper.

I have to admit, my original impression of the Razer mice was always quite poor upon trying them in the past... but Razer are a much bigger company than they were the last time I was in a computer shop looking at mice.

I've used (at various times) Gigabyte, Logitech and MSI mice.  Had good results with all of them.  MSI I still use, and hopefully will for a while.  I am used to their macro/lighting/dpi/mapping software.

I can't speak too much to the rest of this, but if you want strong build quality definitely stay the fuck away from Razer. Also Razer's software is complete ass.

The 4800H will perform almost the same as the 4900S, and sometimes better. Availability in the UK is a bit scarce though.
The XMG Core 15 is great, but it's out of stock till October I believe.
The HP Omen 15 is good too, but I don't think it's on sale yet in the UK
PC specialists have some you can configure yourself with the 4800H, but I'm not sure what the quality of these laptops is like

I mean there was genuine rascism being hurled at the guy, and that isn't acceptable. The key is that they branded all the criticism as non-constructive harassment which is utter non-sense.
Owning mistakes and making an effort to reach out to the community to correct them would have killed this meme on its feet. Instead the Verge doubled down and acted like elitists, setting themselves as the baseline by which all other bad PC building practices will be compared.

The Verge is a crapshoot. I'm not saying they're incapable of making something good and credible, I'm just saying you can't tell the difference between a skip fire and The Verge if it weren't for the logo.
This isn't about tech really, just in general.

Whilst I have been subscribed to LTT for a while, I actually only recently started checking out the forums regularly as the one I used to frequent really pissed me off... and I still need my forum fix.

Long story short, one of the senior moderators decided it would be ok to come into a discussion and drop sweeping offensive statements about everyone that disagreed with him on a political topic. When I highlighted that he was using politicians words as support for his perspective, but dismissing others political opinions because "politicians lie", and this was quite a hypocritical position to take, I was threatened with a suspension.
I highlighted that my supposed breaking of the community guidelines was no worse than his early sweeping offensive statement, and suggested we could discuss the topic "offline" to try and clean up the posts and keep the conversation civil, and he suspended me claiming that it had nothing to do with the position I held was only to do with insults.

My final response before I got suspended got quite a lot of support from that community and I know a number of other members who also left after this. I certainly wont be logging back in.

Possibly a little OT... but I feel like I have needed to have a little rant about that for a while.

How on earth has any commentary on this video resulted in an argument about whether or not it should be criticised in the manner by which it has.

It's one of the worst attempts at a how to I have ever seen, from a news outlet that has at least some public credibility. It's so bad, and inaccurate, that its actually borderline dangerous in parts. At the very least it runs the risk of huge financial damage to anyone who thinks it's a legitimately well researched piece and follows it's advice.

It deserves every bit of the ridicule and criticism it receives, so can we just ignore anyone defending it and carry on tearing it to shreds until it is finally taken down.
