  1. Hello everyone. Im here because i've recently run into an issue with my fairly new pc and decided to do a reset. I went into the windows 10 settings app and went to recovery and then chose the "reset this PC" option. Since then my computer is working as it should again ,but i ran into a strange issue. In the windows settings app it says " windows isn't activated. Activate windows now." With a link to the activation section in the settings app. However, when i go to accounts, sign in to my microsoft account and click "manage my microsoft account" i can find where it says i have a version of windows 10 linked to my account. It even says in the about section in system settings that i have windows 10 home with a version # and build os #. I try to access the activation settings but all i ever see is the indicator that its loading and it never fully loads and therefore i cant access those settings. If anyone has run into this problem before and fixed it or has knowledge of how to fix this i would really appreciate it if you could let me know how. For the record i did buy windows 10 in the last 2 months or so and still have my original key on hand if needed.
  2. Thanks for your opinions! I'm glad to know that I can expect it to be usable for quite a while.
  3. Hello. I was just wondering, if I were to buy a gtx 1080 right now to play games at 1440p, how long do you think it would last in terms of keeping AAA titles at high settings above 60fps. Taking the advancements in video games within the next few years into account. Though, at the moment I just want to play games like overwatch and battlefield 1, I'm really just curious as to how useful it will be 3 to 4 years from now. Thanks for the help!
  4. So really, the higher price tag is only for if you want those premium specifications?
  5. I see. Thanks for the help everyone! I plan on playing games like Overwatch and Battlefield 1 casually. Unfortunately, my laptop is a chromebook (incompatible with these games) and, of course, my smartphone can't play them. My only other option is to use an older laptop that is only compatible with the n generation of wifi and uses old integrated graphics. I will still consider trying it though. I'll just assume that my actual performance will be better because the testing laptop is only n wifi compatible.
  6. Hello. I'm working on building my first gaming PC but I'm not sure how much I should spend on a monitor. Regardless of budget, my main question is how long will a monitor that is around the $500-$700 price range last (ignoring the possibilities or accidental damage and stuff)? Also, do you think spending this much money on a monitor(even if you can afford it) is worth it? I apologize in advance if this question is too vague and if it is I will gladly go into more detail about the types of monitors I'm considering. Thanks for your help!
  7. Hello. I am currently pricing out my first gaming PC build and I won't be able to connect my PC to the internet with a wired connection. I found a pcie adapter which has ac wifi( my router is also ac wifi compatible). Anyway, my PC will be upstairs in a room that is directly above my router. I've used this speed test from speedtest.net on my phone and laptop while in the upstairs room and received these results: 1) 51.88 mbps download, 47.69mbps upload, and 3ms latency 2) 75.04 download, 47.27 upload, and 3ms latency. I don't remember which is the phone and which is the laptop but, I figured this could be helpful in determining whether or not my wifi would be suitable for pc gaming. I would like your opinion on whether or not these results mean that the wifi is good enough for gaming or not and whether or not this test was a good one and if there a better methods of testing my wifi. PCIE adapter: Gigabyte - GC-WB867D-I PCI-Express x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter Thanks for your help!
  8. I see. I'll continue with my research but it was helpful to learn about how intel changes sockets often. Thanks for your help.
  9. Where did you hear them say this?
  10. So amd won't change there cpu socket until 2020?
  11. Well, i've posted a link to my current pcpartpicker build in my original post. Its built around the pentium g4560, but if i go with ryzen i might have to use a different motherboard. Im mainly concerned with upgradeability after intel or amd introduces a new cpu socket.
  12. With my budget, i'm trying to stay below $800. Of course, i want to get the most bang for my buck. I want to be able to upgrade it in the future. Also, i'm a little confused as to which component demands more money than the next. For ex: gpu demands more money than the storage.
  13. So, I am currently trying to decide on a good value budget cpu for my first gaming pc build. I first planned on using the pentium g4560 as I heard that it has good value but it uses the lga1151 cpu socket which has been around for a while now. I intel is planning on releasing a new generation of cpu's using a new cpu socket sometime soon, then I would rather go for an AMD cpu since they just released their new zen architecture. I am very inexperienced when it comes to this stuff as I am a first-time builder on a budget, but I want to choose a cpu that won't become obsolete in the coming years. I don't know if a cpu ould be considered obsolete if the manufacturer has already released a new cpu socket or not. Anyway, i'm very confused and what I would really like to know is if I should go with the pentium g4560(about $69) or something like the ryzen 5 1400(about $160) or ryzen 5 1500x(about $175). I'm looking for the one with the best value and the cpu socket that will allow me to upgrade in the future. For a budget gaming PC, would it be better to spend more money on the GPU and monitor rather than the CPU? Thanks in advance for your help. 14. I understand now. That video was very easy to understand. Again, thanks so much for your help! Before posting my question I was really confused about this so i'm glad I don't have to guess at it anymore. P.S.: the check mark at the bottom of the comment is what marks the comment as the answer to my question correct?
  15. Thanks for the suggestion, however I chose the Lenovo - LI2364d 23.0" 1920x1080 71Hz Monitor as it has an ips panel among other things.
