  1. I canceled the WD LifeGuard test after 13 hours and it reported bad sectors. SMART status says PASS and the Test Result is a fail with an error code of 08-.
  2. If the HDD is so screwed, how could I continue to boot off of it and use it fine right now?
  3. Windows 10 64-bit. I've got about 200GB of data so I can't do that. Plus, there are a lot of Windows themes and settings I don't wanna re-do. I'm waiting on SMART data, I will update within the next 12 hours on that.
  4. Do you happen to live in a desert? Perhaps the day heat and night cold is helping.
  5. I have a 5+ year old HDD and I am looking to clone the OS (and some other info) onto a new WD SSD. I have tried AOMEI, EaseUS, Acronis WD, Macrium and all have failed with errors regarding the drive. I have defragged the disk and run CCleaner registry repair. I continue to face "$i30" wrong index notices. I managed to "succeed" with Acronis but when booting into the SSD, the lock screen flashes and I am unable to log in. I have done this multiple times and wiped the SSD multiple times. I have run chkdsk /r /x /f. I am currently running WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics but the Quick Test estimated to take 2 minutes is taking more than 45 as of this message. I strongly suspect the drive is damaged BUT I continue to boot into it and enjoy full operability on Windows, albeit quite slowly. I just want to evacuate my OS and data and Windows settings and themes onto the SSD and I won't have to think about this HDD anymore. Please help, I have tried so many things...
  6. Yes, the EVGA 500B is what I use and it's a great quality and great value. Don't be one of those guys that goes crazy over a PSU. Linus couldn't get a system with 2 GTX1080's to go over 500W.
  7. Okay, you want the 1070 if you're planning to be on a 1440p display at high display settings for the next couple years. 1440p is very important to underline, if you're on a lower resolution, the GTX1070 will get you 100+ fps on the most demanding games easily and I don't know if that's worth it. Otherwise, the GTX1060 should do you just fine for a very long time too. And also, with the money you're spending, I'd personally avoid buying used; it just ain't worth the trouble is what I think. I prefer shiny and new.
  8. Yes, it's a GTX1070 (by far) and yes, the EBGA 500B is plenty.
  9. Yes, this is a Windows disk. I understand I could use EaseUS or Acronis...is this error anything to worry about? EaseUS has not stopped me from initiating the cloning operation, though I have not Applied the pending operation.
  10. So I have a really old HDD that holds all my files and precious programs and I am going to clone it to a new one. I am using EaseUS Partition Master Free and I have cleaned out Registry with CCleaner. In the disk clone wizard, when checking partitions, a bunch of errors all regarding "index $I30" are found and I am confused as to what this is. As a result, I have decided not to begin the disk cloning process yet. Is this something I should be worried about? I have not experienced any crazy symptoms with my PC on this hard drive, aside from it being pretty slow from the age. EDIT: I've also done chkdsk /r and /f.
  11. And if so, what cables are required? As I understand, the HDMI interface does not allow for transmission of data?
  12. I have successfully manipulated microns-thick pins and the thing has booted fine. I have made it to BIOS and run Windows and I think I'm out of the water!
  13. Yes and UPDATE: Upon removal of the CPU, I have a couple of bent pins. I will now conduct surgery on the socket.
  14. Specs: Motherboard: GA-Z270XP-SLI CPU: Intel i5-7600K RAM: 1x Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2400MHz PSU: EVGA BRONZE 80 PLUS 500W Graphics Card: EVGA ACX 3.0 GTX1070 SC Cooler: Cryorig M9i The PC is newly assembled and won't post (Monitor says "No Signal"). The CPU and DRAM LEDs on the board light up alternately, indicating something's wrong. When the power is pressed, lights go on and the fans spin. The beep code is repeated 2-second long beeps which continue for about 4.5 beeps until the PC shuts down on its own. It restarts on its own after a few seconds and the process repeats. I can only suspect there is something wrong with the RAM but I'll have to obtain a new stick to test it, which I don't yet have.
