  1. Hi all, I'm using 16GBx2 sticks of Team Vulcan ddr4 2400mhz memory with an MSI raider x299 mobo and i7-7800x processor. Whenever I try boot with both sticks installed in the C1 and A1 slots (as per mobo instructions) the CPU and DRAM EZ debug Leds alternate flashing. The beep code is 3 beeps and it keeps repeating. Whenever I try boot with one stick in the C1 slot (as per mobo instructions) the same thing as above happens, but when I try with the other stick I get the DRAM EZ debug led on solidly with a beep code of 3 long beeps - which is a memory issue according to mobo manual. My doubt is since I get two different styles of errors depending on which RAM stick I have installed, is the problem RAM or mobo related? Link for RAM is https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team-group-vulcan-t-force-32gb-2x16gb-ddr4-pc4-19200c14-2400mhz-dual-channel-kit-grey-tlgd432g2-my-08h-tg.html - I have seen in many reviews that people get bad modules of it so I suspect that, doubt mobo because the error is slightly different depending on stick installed. Appreciate any insight at all! Thanks, Akhil
  2. Yeah I decided to go for it and am currently in the process of testing the battery life - all good so far - should hold up well. Yeah I got the store to do some disinfectant spray stuff on it - it's something they do when selling ex-display models. There's a few light marks here and there but nothing that's visible unless you look real close so I don't really mind them. Thanks for the advice, really appreciate it.
  3. Thanks for that, I'll check if I can test the battery life - the acer sounds more than good enough ill give it a look if the surface book doesn't work out
  4. Hmm they said they've been on display for about 3 months - would you say that's okay as they have been plugged in the whole time?
  5. Almost no one ships to Ireland from US (especially for free) as far as I know and if they do there's still the 23% import tax that I have to pay which has negated any saving I've been able to find from ordering from US every time I check
  6. Hi all, Going into uni and want to get a laptop for study - was walking around the local PC World and saw they were selling the i5 8GB 128GB surface book for about €700 as it was an ex-display model - seemed to be in good nick. Could I do better for that price range? I'm sure better specs may be achievable but I would like solid build quality which the surface book seems to have. Looked around on Amazon and stuff but didn't really find anything that good. Am based in Ireland so can't order from US without paying a hefty 23% import tax and huge shipping costs. Thanks, Akhil
  7. Thanks, just put in stuff from parametric filters so... ? I do know I'd like liquid cooling for better overclocking and I wanted an enthusiast grade board (assume the x370 is like z270) for so I'd have access all the features and pci lanes etc. for future expansion and Sli is a future possibility for me (maybe in like 1-2 years) so I'd like to keep that open.
  8. @BluJay614 @tom_w141 @PCGuy_5960 Thanks for the informative answers and help guys, really appreciate it. I made this list - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/yFxMYr using ryzen and it is about 140 more than my current list (about 70 over my desired budget but I could stretch if it really was worth it). I think at that price I could probably get a 7820x assuming the mobo is 200ish - which would be better in that case? And if the 7800x brings my total price to around 1360-1400 (assuming mobo is 200ish) would that be better value for money? Thanks again
  9. That would be pretty great but want to try stick to the 1300-1400 range I'm in right now
  10. Just to clarify I'd only be doing one of the things at a time, maybe the Plex server in the background sometimes - is the 7700k really a bad buy even so? Also would a similarly performing Ryzen system be much cheaper? Thanks
  11. Well after factoring in import duties to IE and USD to EUR conv. about 50% - Like I'm getting the 7700K for around 160 instead of 303 GBP.
  12. Cause my dad works for Intel so employee pricing
  13. I'll be coming into money after my exams finish (Jun 23rd) and I've decided to use it to build myself a nice PC for Gaming (mostly just Beam.ng drive and GTA V), Running a Plex Server, CAD (Fusion 360, Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor) and some light Photo/Video work. I'll be on a 1080p monitor but I want it to be 4k capable incase I want to hook it up to my TV. Also I'm based in Ireland so I'm pretty much limited to Amazon UK and any EU based retailers that deliver to the UK and Ireland. The PCPP list below is what I am currently set on at the moment, please suggest any improvements that could be made to the selection that will keep it in and around the same performance level and make it more cost effective as I want to make sure I'm getting the most out of my money in terms of performance. I don't care much for color coordination and RGB etc. and don't need any peripherals or OS (already have Win 10 bought) EDIT: Has to be Intel as my dad works there PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor (£160.00) CPU Cooler: *Deepcool - Maelstrom 120K 61.9 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (£39.99 @ Ebuyer) Motherboard: *Asus - STRIX Z270-E GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£187.05 @ CCL Computers) Memory: *ADATA - XPG Z1 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-2800 Memory (£89.92 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Intel - 600p Series 256GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive (£65.00) Storage: *Seagate - BarraCuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£37.99 @ Aria PC) Video Card: *Asus - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB Turbo Video Card (£635.99 @ Aria PC) Case: *Phanteks - ECLIPSE P400 ATX Mid Tower Case (£55.99 @ Overclockers.co.uk) Power Supply: *EVGA - 600W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply (£43.78 @ Ebuyer) Case Fan: *BitFenix - Spectre PWM 56.1 CFM 140mm Fan (£7.99 @ Overclockers.co.uk) Case Fan: *BitFenix - Spectre PWM 56.1 CFM 140mm Fan (£7.99 @ Overclockers.co.uk) Total: £1331.69 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available *Lowest price parts chosen from parametric criteria Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-06-06 19:50 BST+0100 Lastly, Should I wait for X299 and get a i7-7800x or go with Z270 and i7-7700k? Will the increase in price and waiting time be worth the performance boost? I made a poll for that but please feel free to elaborate on why you voted for what you did. Thanks guys
  14. I don't know if it'll stop people complaining cause in the end isn't this just another added expense on top of an already costly machine?
