grab yourself a pair of powerline adaptors and use the copper already in the wall to do what is essentially ethernet over power. 
it's stable and brilliant for gaming.

Ethernet if possible. Powerline adapters if thats not possible. 

I have a couple of options for you, depending on your preferred configuration.
 
If you'd prefer a 2.1 speaker configuration (L, R + Subwoofer), the Creative A250 set's AMAZING for the price you pay for, which is around $60 CAD. This is the set I use in my studio and I honestly can't say anything negative about them, other than the fact that there's no independent volume control for the subwoofer, which I prefer anyway.
 
If you would be interested in a surround sound configuration (5.1), I can vouch for the Logitech Z506. They're much pricier when comparing to the Creative A250 set, coming in at about $180 CAD, but they're definitely worth it. A buddy of mine has these set up in his home theatre and they sound great.

That doesn't necessarily mean that Steam games would run on this emulation layer without any issues, if at all. Some may work, others may not. If they do run, they might not run well.

Hydro dipping is very doable, but sending it out is your best option especially for custom designed patterns. There are kits one can get for doing it yourself but I don't know the details for that.
