Having gone through the CCNA courses you are just learning the theory so you can comprehend what you will be doing in the field, its alot of material but well worth knowing. The real world job is way different but knowing the material will make its way easier. I strongly suggest start a study group, its the only way i made it the CCNA curriculum.

There is a lot to know and the more you learn the more you will realize how little you know. Networking
is getting harder to get into because amount of depth protocols are getting these days.

Start with CCENT to get the basics, lab a bit in Packet Tracer then try to see if you can get an entry level position. Take it one step at a time.

This is called imposter syndrome and it never goes away. I'm currently working on my CCIE and am an engineer for an ISP, I feel like I will never learn it all, but just studying every night I can see how far I have come.

My best way of studying is a chapter a night with typed notes and a lab. I have ADHD as well so focusing is hard. Just made a habit to grab a cup of tea sit down and read at a given time. Really had helped

Powerline adapters do connect by Ethernet, they transfer the Ethernet signal to power and then from power back to Ethernet. You will need both ends to be on the same circuit for it to work.

Marshnt reacted to Skylatian in Is this an ok audio setup
I wouldn't recommend it. I'm by no means an audiophile but that much gear won't magically make your headset sound amazing. I've got the same headset (but the 7.1 virtual surround version). It's a decent set of cans but you need to invest in better headphones than the Krakens. There are plenty of audio setups for less than $550 that would blow that out of the water.  I'm not dissing the gear but you just won't get an incredible improvement. The improvement will definitely be there but probably not as much as you want.

    1. ISP like all companies collect info on you and your network google for some stories.
    2. ISP's buy the cheapest hardware and usually the slowest customers will put up with
    3. Look up ddwrt and its capilities.

A cable splitter will cut the signal strength no matter if you use both sides. On top of that not all splitters are the same, some will not work with digital equipment.

Adding another NIC is the easiest solution. Running 2 DHCP servers in the same network is a bad idea.

Look for something called a "Trunk" in their interface. That's what its called if you have multiple vlans over 1 interface.

Marshnt reacted to alexicon in Accessing switch from different vlan
Depends on the security on the switch and in the network. Technically you can just put in the IP of the switch and reach it by routing to it through your gateway. But I bet your gateway has ACLs that block this.

The other alternative is to change the port to your room from access to trunk and then get a managed switch of your own that puts your desktop traffic onto the student vlan and another device on to a different vlan.

if you only have one device, setup one port on your personal switch to be an access vlan for the student network and a different port to be on the staff network and then just plug into whichever you want to use at that time.

I'm not responsible if you get fired. Or worse. Expelled. =D

Monoprice is a good option, you can get it in bulk or with terminated ends.

Best way is to run an Ethernet cable into the garage or as close as you can and connect an access point to it to provide a WiFi signal.

You'll likely come across WiFi extenders, but I wouldn't recommend them, they tend to be crap.

Down the drain, if you live in a city the water will be treated before going back.

The Chromecast is cheaper. But it certainly isn't better by any stretch of the imagination.
An Apple TV can act as a stand alone device. It has a significantly better hardware and running a slimmed down version of iOS, which is already not intensive on Apple's current hardware.
The only ChromeCast enabled device I've seen so far that was ever as good or better was Nvidia's shield TV. I would call the Chromecast itself a bandaid solution and an all around piece of shit.
