One late night while browsing the net I notice an amazing deal for a Asus Strix GTX 1080 on Bestbuy.ca. It was an unbelievable price of CAD$894.99! So I purchased without hesitation and went to bed. When I woke up the next day I noticed that my credit card had a pending transaction for the item - Great! It’s being shipped, I thought to myself.
Later that day I receive an email from Bestbuy. “Unfortunately this item has been priced incorrectly. We apologize for this inconvenience and will be cancelling and refunding your order shortly.“ At this point I looked closer at the purchase. I then noticed that this item was being sold and shipped from Mike’s Computer Shop, a local company. I contacted Bestbuy Canada’s head office hoping they would do the right thing and honor the advertised price. They told me they will look into it.
Few days later, an “Executive Resolution Associate of Customer Experience” replied “We just received a reply from Mike's Computer that they are within the terms and condition and have the right to cancel as the item was not shipped and you haven't been charged.”
Maybe I’m just naïve thinking that either a big retailer would honor their prices or I would get a 1080 for $894.99.
Now I’m sad.
