    Splitscreen PC

Thanks! I see that OBS and X-Split both have that, which I will see about using.
  3. Hey All, Looking for a solution for splitscreen PC gaming. Essentially, I want to be able to take 2 inputs from 2 computers and splitscreen them to a single 1080p TV. This can be a hardware solution or software. I am fine with needing a 3rd PC or something else of this nature. Any recommendations? I have started experimenting with a program called Reflector 2, that would allow me to do something like this wirelessly - however it is unusably laggy (were talking 2 seconds delay).
  4. Yeah, don't plan on getting very involved with the community again - just don't have the time more than anything! But yes, the drama and immaturity was starting to get hilarious when I stopped playing as much. I stayed away from the larger servers and instead ran my own with a local group I was a part of, for that reason. As far as the youtubers and streamers, I like to listen to them while I work. So, I'll take a look at some of the folks you mentioned.
  5. I'm a (comparably) old, married guy who played Minecraft from the late-alpha days up until a couple years ago (Did the whole run several servers and be very involved with the game and community thing). Recently my nephew started playing himself - and we now have it for XB1 so my wife and I can play the game with him. Okay, who am I kidding - my wife and I are ADDICTED. For me, its bringing back old memories, and in reality I spent SO MUCH TIME running servers and communities that I rarely ever actually played the game itself as it was meant to be played. Anyway. For those who have played it in the last 2-4 years, I have a couple questions: 1. Are there any MC youtubers/streamers that are mature adults? I seem to recall some "back in the day", but I am mostly finding cringe-worthy content these days. I understand the target audience for many MC personalities is preteen/early teens - but still. 2. On the server side of things - What's the big deal these days? In my day it was bukkit and spigot servers. But it seems development for these has slowed alot? Specifically, I want a way to set up multiple worlds on my server and be able to teleport from world to world, and just don't know what custom server software to run to do this. the bukkit plugins I used to use to do this have not been updated for use with modern versions of MC.
  6. As far as customization, the yamaha system will be best (I'm partial to having an actual center channel speaker at the bare minimum - so I like separate systems) If you just want something that sounds as good as a bar with small speakers can - vizio is great. Heck, their $78 2.0 bar sounds amazing IMO. Plus - has a center speaker
  7. I didn't realize OEM and Retail treated moving systems differently. Good to know! I mean, technically it is against the TOS for OEM to be used for personal use - so - guess I cannot be mad if my key doesn't switch systems.
  8. Anything from Vizio is quite good. for 500, you can get their 5.1 system, which has a 3 channel front soundbar, two wireless satellite speakers and a subwoofer.
  9. Forum guidelines do care. But no. It will give an error saying it is in use.
  10. Dunno. I might give them a cookie or an espresso if they actually made it to my door.....
  11. AMZL-US. A term that means Amazon Logistics, but to me means I have a 50/50 chance of receiving my package on time, or at all. Up until this summer (2016), all my packages arrived on time and at my doorstep or my apartment manager's office. Since then I have had to return/refund many items because they arrive days late, or, not at all and I end up re-ordering or buying locally for more. I have watched them throw boxes 10 feet at my neighbor's door across the parking lot - and then get the notification that my package was delivered. Yes, they both threw the package, and, delivered it to the wrong apartment. I have had two phonecalls from delivery drivers who "cannot find your address". Well, I have no idea what to tell you - I have successfully received dozens of packages at that exact address. Many many "delivered" notifications, that, were never actually delivered (I work from home and have a security camera at my door, so, there is no way someone delivered and I didn't notice). "Office closed" excuses for why something wasn't delivered - why some decide to deliver to my door and some to office, I have no idea. This is in addition to the fact the office was not closed. USPS, UPS, FedEx arrive before noon. AMZL-US deliver at 3 or later.... Tracking info is non-existent. Top it off with the fact amazon will not do anything to help you for 2 days. I would gladly pay extra for UPS, USPS or FedEx. They at least always deliver on time, knock at the door, and even try to hide packages (its hilarious, they put my doormat on top of packages bigger than the doormat). /Rant Over
  12. Thats a Female F-Connector. 99% of the time is used for Cable TV or Cable Internet. You CAN use a set of MoCA adapters to send up to 1Gbps Ethernet signals over Coax, however these are $100+ https://www.amazon.com/Actiontec-Bonded-Ethernet-Adapter-ECB6200K02/dp/B013J7O3X0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1485545655&sr=8-3&keywords=MoCA
  13. There is almost no way to completely block out in-game sounds and others voices if you are using speakers of any kind at a normal volume. Question: Why do you wish to use speakers while playing games and using VOIP? Modmic 4 or 5 + quality headphones will provide high quality on both sides.
  14. You are looking at roughly ~1300 Canadian for the same specs as this one from Costco, built yourself. You could potentially get it slightly cheaper if you get a worse case, iffy power supply, etc. I would recommend taking that money, and building your own. Instead, including an SSD, as well as a better HDD (faster will help with Video Editing). You could also get a better GPU for the money as well, at least one that has better power usage.
  15. I personally would not spend more than $250 USD ($326 CAD) on it.
  16. Hi All, I see this was asked a few months ago, but wanted to bring up again. With CES2017 come and gone, the popularity and number of Smart Home/Connected devices are growing more and more every year. Alexa/Echo, Google Home, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, Phillips Hue Bulbs, Cameras and Security systems. Even the new Shield TV will be able to turn into a Smart Home Hub through partnership with Samsung's SmartThings. Smart home (and related) Technologies are growing at a fast rate, are no longer cost-prohibitive for nearly as many, and are more and more common as a standard feature in newer homes. It's also no longer a "geek only" item, with things like the Echo and Phillips Hue being HUGE sellers this holiday season as stocking stuffers and gifts. I feel it is close to time to include a section for these Smart/Connected devices. I would envision something encompassing: Smart Devices (Bulbs, Switches, Outlets, Locks, Water Meters, thermostats, Appliances), Smart Hubs (SmartThings, Wink, Vera, Homebrew), Smart Home Security (Cameras, Sensors, etc), Home Automation Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit IoT Devices Whether it is actually time for this or not, is up to the Mods - but here's my vote to have it added sooner than later.
  17. I've had a G4 since released. My first one had a bootloop issue after 1 year, and was replaced under warranty. Other than that, It's a good phone. Replaceable Battery, great camera, MicroSD. My battery lasts a day with my medium usage.
  18. Unless you need the ability to switch between Uni and Omni directional pattern, and need the modularity (short cables, long cables, mute switch) It's not worth it if you want to save the money.
  19. From what I have seen, after 3 months of owning a console - XB1 has many more sales Vs Playstation. Or, when somewhere (Newegg, Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop) sells a game for discount, the xbox version is sometimes cheaper than the PS version. On consoles, you have fewer cheap indy games, or, games that are very very old and on sale. Howeverm again, XB1 is better at the older games, as it is backwards compatible with a growing list of games. But as someone with a steam library hundreds of games long - I was pleasantly surprised at how cheap I could get games for my XB1: Battlefront: $5 (after using a $5 coupon) Need for Speed: $12 Rayman Legends: $6.60 Rocket League: $12 Gears of War 4: $30 GOW 1-3 + Judgement Day: $10, or free with GOW4 Assassin's Creed Unity: $2.00 Assassin's Creed Black Flag: $10 Metro Redux: $6 Terraria: $4 Telltale Undead Survival Bundle: $20 MGS:V : $12 Battleborn: $10 Fallout 4: Free with the purchase of controller Fallout 3: Free with Fallout 4 Halo Master Chief Collection: $9 The Division: $15 Battlefield 1: Free with console. Deathtrap: Free Thief: Free Sleeping Dogs: Free Outlast: Free Mirror's Edge: Free Forza Horizon: Free
  20. Try following this page's troubleshooting: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html Specifically, use an HTML5 browser (such as Chrome) to play the two videos they list. Run a memory test (http://www.howtogeek.com/260813/how-to-test-your-computers-ram-for-problems/) Slow boot times are expected if you are running anything other than an SSD.
  21. What do you want to do, and what are you running for hardware? For my case (Network backups, Network file storage, FTP Server, Cloud-accessible files, Plex Streaming etc) - I just use Windows 10 Pro. Pros: Easy, simple, I know how to use Windows and any apps I have wanted to run work fine. Cons: May be missing more advanced filesystems or configurations, windows is definitely more hardware-intensive, etc.
  22. Vizio Sound bars (any of them) are amazing. Every single one I have tested or tried, are very impressive. I just bought the 29" version for my parents, and am extremely impressed. It gets loud, more than 50% is uncomfortably loud. The bass is very good, even without a subwoofer. It sounds amazing - none of this crap "sounds like a speaker in a plastic tube" sound. More like the "if I did not already have a 5.1 system at home, I would buy this", sound. In speaking with a BestBuy guy a few weeks ago when I got the 29" he actually was trying to convince me to get the $50 cheaper vizio, instead of a samsung unit I was looking at. If anything is a reason to buy, having a sales person tell you to spend $50 less than what you were planning on is a good reason. Whichever one you get, get one that has an output for a subwoofer. You can get cheap used subwoofers at second-hand stores (goodwill, etc) and use them to improve the bass if it doesn't include a subwoofer. Here are some Vizio Units that are in the sub $200 price. $79 - 29" + Subwoofer Output: SB2920-C6 (same speakers as the 38", just, shorter physical size). $99 - 38" + Subwoofer Output: SB3820-C6 (Same speakers as the 29") $140 - 38" + Wireless Subwoofer: SB3821-C6 (Same speakers again, just, includes a wireless Subwoofer) $199 - 38" + 3.0 channels, Subwoofer Output, HDMI, and Google Cast Built-in: SB3830-D0 (This is for people like me, who cannot stand anything without a dedicated center channel).
  23. Watch youtube videos on gameplay in general, to get an idea of what you are in for (if you haven't already). If you can, play with a friend or two, as it makes it easier to handle the learning curve with supportive friends.
  24. Not sure what City you are referring to, but here in Oregon, I was able to buy two headphones (In my case, M50x and DT990 pros) at Guitar Center, try them for a week, and then return the one I didn't like (DT990s). Most places in the states have a return policy that lets you return in XX days purely because "It doesn't suit my needs". This does require that you have the money up front for this type of deal.
